  1. The Suby rack is about an inch longer than stock overall. I tried to line up the LCA pivot point with the tie rod pivot (with wheels straight). That point is about 1" up and .5" out. I had just enough adjustment with the AZC lower controll arms to make it work. I have camber plates up top so camber adjustment wasn't a problem. I never tried this setup with stock LCA's in stock location, but I would expect bump steer issues. If people are having problems with the ford rack it may be that they are not addressing this problem by moving the pickup points of the LCA. It would be interesting to compare overall length of the mustang rack to the Subaru, and to a stock rack. If someone could measure a Mustang rack, I will measure the Subie and a stocker. (tie rod pivot to tie rod pivot) Dave.
  2. Yes, it is a little faster. and it has more travel. (travel = angle) as long as you have wheel clearence. wheel clearance is going to be your limiting factor.
  3. Yes that would work steering wise, but I don't think it's a practical solution to this problem, the track is wider and geting the struts in the correct location may prove impossible.
  4. No, but there are plenty of other front steer power racks that are a lot easier to install, and there fairly cheep. Mine is a 99 subaru impreza rack that I got for $100.00 at a J yard.
  5. on a front steer car like our s30's the pinion is under the rack, so when you turn right the rack moves to the right. if you use a rear steer rack the pinion is on top of the rack and it will cause the wheels to turn the wrong direction if the rack is mounted in front.
  6. You will need to pull the cover, then it's just a matter of useing a sharp object or screwdriver or whatever it takes to move a little plastic tab from the inside. it will make sence when you see it.
  7. Mine is 2002 GM, It works with the Suby rack like its made for it. did you change LCA pickup points, and shorten LCA's to compensate for the extra length of the Suby rack? You may have some bump steer issues.
  8. http://www.PictureTrail.com/gid14620511 Stay tuned for some up to date pics soon.
  9. I have a set of Rebello bored 50mm SU's that I'm not useing that I would sell for $500, they put out 280 HP on Rebello's dyno, on a pump gas stroker.
  10. Can anyone direct me to more pics of cars with steel flairs? especially the beetle ones, the shot of that orange car got me thinkin... I haven't spent nearly enough time or $ on my car yet.
  11. This is how a Z looks in Viper Red, in the sun it looks more orange, especially when parked next to a real red car.
  12. That all sounds too simple. are you sure you wont have to shorten the flange or the halfshafts, or both? I assume you are talking about useing the 6 bolt half shafts,
  13. Its not as bad as it looks, but I was scraping alot with 15" wheels. all I run now is 17" theres still 3" or so under the skid plate.
  14. Thanks 78 Im still looking for the correct fittings, for now all I did was cut the original lines and flair the ends to adapt to AN fittings. Yes all that silver stuff is powder coated, Its called (near-chrome) not all powder coat shops will use it because it fades easy when exposed to sunlight. also they have to put clear over it because its soft.
  15. I have 8 good used stock coil packs. How many would you like at $15.00 each? the new ones are probably about $50.00 MSD packs are about $75-85 each on Ebay. if you want used ones just PM me. Dave.
  16. It's a 99 Impreza rack, im reasonably sure they are the same, but I remember reading somewhere there where a few years of Impreza's that where different. If someone knows what years these came on for both th Impreza and the Forester, that might be of some help to anyone checking for these in there local j-yard. I was lucky and found this right away for $100 and I knew the 99 worked from what I had read.
  17. Well the first impression is verry good, It feels like a modern car with power assist. but I have only driven it in first and second gear. its only been done a few days and tomarow is my alignment appt. also have some exhaust issues that will get fixed tomarow, while the car was down I built a new trans crossmember and the exhaust hits it. after that is done I plan on doing some street miles (Oregon wether permiting) as I have to break in a new engine and clutch. Tomarow I will try to get some more pics and put them in my album
  18. I just wanted to post a few pics of my ps install and say thanks to everyone who shared info in this thread and others. without this resource I never would have even attempted this. Thanks a lot. Dave.
