The valves are adusted correctly, I am sure of that. What do you guys mean by the dizzy being off by a tooth? the timing is at about 12 degrees so it shouldn't be that. I am gonna pull the valve covers and check the firing order tomorrow and ill let you know what I get. Thanks for the help Brad

It has plenty of gas because I flooded it once already, its hard to get it to idle and run at all, the clutch isn't slipping and my brake isnt seized. I can push the car when the brake is off. sometimes it will back fire through the carb when I try to start, or when I get it to run it it backfires through the carb and dies. Right now I think I have the wrong cam, but I wanna make sure I do before I buy another one.

I have the HO firing order and I tried the other one but I couldnt even get it to start it just back fired through the carb. I believe the timing is around 12 but I am gonna get it running and recheck it later tonight. I was never able to get the exact year of the engine and what it was out of, but it is a roller cam. Could I possible have a cam meant for an HO and mine isn't? or vice versa?

After a year of work I finally got my Z running. It has a ford 302 with Trick Flow Twisted Wedge cylinder heads, performer rpm Intake, edelbrock 600cfm carb, MSD 6AL ignition, Summit HEI Distributor, and a Trick Flow Cam. I dont have the current cam numbers with me but if you need them I will post them. I completely rebuilt the engine and got it running today. I drove the car down the street and it had no power. It wouldn't even spin the tires in first gear, couldn't even get a chirp. It felt like it had about 50 horsepower, it should have around 300. I have no clue what I did wrong, and the only thing I could think of is if the cam is off by a tooth? It has Idler gears for the cam. Please help me figure this one out I am lost. Thanks Brad

I think they are mid 11's depending on the driver and I would say around 13's with the passenger, so id say you did one hell of job building your car. At first I was wondering if my dad raced you with my mom on the back but then I saw you lived in New York, lol.

My Dad has an fjr1300, and he says its surprisingly fast for how heavy they are, and it's hard to race all out on a motorcycle when you have an extra 120 pounds or so over the rear axle, you just wheelie when you nail it. But besides that you still need a pretty fast car to beat a motorcycle, good job!

I pulled a boat with my dads 1997 toyota T100 and it has a 3.4 V6 and it pulled the boat fine and if you drive it careful you get around 18 or 19 around town, 15 at the worst, and thats speeding everywhere. 20-22 on the highway. My brother has a 1999 ford ranger with the 4.0 V6 and that pulled the boat fine, personally I liked the toyota better, and we pulled the boat with my sisters 2000 4runner with the 4 cylinder and that pulled it almost as good as my dads truck, its only about 10 or 20 horses less than my dads truck. But for your needs any truck with a 6 cylinder will be more than enough power and some 4's, in my opinion.

When people say not wearing a seatbelt throws you out of the car away from the wreck, there part true. You do get thrown from the car, then the car rolls over on you and kills you, like my cousin. Im my opinion not wearing a seatbelt has to be one of the stupidest things ever.

I measured the width of my dads 4.6 dohc and It was about 2 inches skinnier than the width of the Strut towers and I think it is possible, but I could of been wrong on my measurements. Let me know what year the engine is and what supercharger it has and any other goodies it may have.
-
Is the Lincoln the 5.4 or the 4.6? and if its the 4.6 is it the 32 valve DOHC or is it the SOHC? The problem with these engines are there size. My dad had 99 mustang Cobra and that had the 4.6 dohc it wasnt supercharged though but that car was fun and it wasn't to bad handling either. It had around 320 hp and around 02-04 they started putting on the superchargers and those had around 400. As compared to the Chevy I would personally choose the Chevy for simplicity, The Lincoln (or ford whichever you prefer) will take a lot of work to get inside the Z, and I have only seen it done once, cant remember his name though. It's in the ford section I believe you should contact him to see whats involved. I hope this helps

That paint job is sweet! Nice car

HAHA, well I'm not really into video games but the one game I used to play was Gran Turismo 3 and I had that car in it, and I must say in the game that car was insane, one of the fastest cars in the game, but then I eventually got a faster car but not by much. I know video games aren't all that realistic but I just thought I would share.

Aren't detroit 2 strokes diesel? and a diesel 2 stroke wont start without a blower because it can't get enough air to start, and the turbo is for more power, or so I've been told. Not sure how accurate this is though. Can someone let me know?

Good Luck on quitting! My Grandad has smoked since he was about 13 He is 75 now. 62 years, that's a long a$$ time to be smoking and he has tried to quit atleast 5 times with no success, and I am pretty sure he still smokes. My dad and I have talked about it from what we have noticed with people that we know closely that smoke and it doesn't make you die sooner, it just makes you incredibly unhealthy and miserable. I am only 18 and I love to party but I just got back to going to the gym and getting myself back in shape which is a pain due to 2 bad knees from sports and 2 bad shoulders from lifting wrong( I weighed 150 pounds and was benching over 260, the football coach loved me until I quit, then I bought my Z and I've never looked back) but I am making myself not drink for a couple months and hopefully it pays off. Last night was the first night, and wasn't easy but lets see how long I last. But I just think of all the money I will be saving, 2 12 packs a weekend one for Friday and one for saturday thats a good $25 a weekend, all that will be going into the Z instead, or food Gotta eat. Good Luck!

I think what makes my car so unique is the fact its on jackstands and been there for about 9 months:( . Oh wait no others probably already have that lol, but definetly the ford 302 completely rebuilt with some aluminum heads, cam, and every other top end peice you can buy that will be going in the engine bay if I ever get the car painted, and I stress ever getting it painted. Anyone wanna help? -
I have an idea I am not sure if it will work because I am used to looking at a ford 302 under the Z hood, but here goes. With my engine you can move the radiator back about 4 inches or so? (just guessing) If you do this and get a nice fan then leave the IC in the same place or even move it forward and put a fan on the IC. Would that work to keep the temp. down? I know it would be a huge cluster or crap and it would add more IC piping etc. but this is just some food for thought.

Take the radar detector off of your dash when you get pulled over and put it under the seat. Thats what my dad does in his car and on his motorcycle he puts his gloves over it, and hes never got questioned about it.

It might be I am not sure though, we went through crow canyon road to Castro Valley, took a right and went about a mile then took another right went about a mile or so and then we were in the middle of no where. After one of our runs the rx7 was getting hot so we stopped for a little and let his car cool down, and of course a cop rolls right by us. he goes down the road then turns around stops gets out and checks to make sure our cars arent stolen, and tells us to have a good night and dont drive speed, too much. haha.
-
No it's not crow canyon road, I'm not sure of the name but I know that the road goes off in a few different directions and you can get to moroga, oakland, and a couple other places from it. It was a sweet road and I'll be going out more often when my friend goes so I will find out the name and let you know. Also when I was in his car I looked at his dash and thought hmm... that would be sweet in my Z, I'm not sure if it will fit but I will take some measurements when I see him next.

I went out tailgating in my friends s2000 last night, right around castro valley and boy was that insane. We were in some swervy a$$ forest roads with 3 other cars, Acura integra not sure of the year with only minor suspension mods, 240sx with suspension mods, a rx7 all stock with some decent tires, and then my friends s2000 100 percent stock with some nice tires on it. The integra was first then me and my friend in his car and the other 2 cars followed. The driver of the integra was F****** crazy. he stayed in his lane the whole time never set up for any apex never even crossed the yellow line and after about 5 corners we couldnt see him anymore, my friend was doing everything he could to stay with him but he just couldnt, and everytime we would get to the end he would be standing outside his car waiting for us. We made about 10 runs through a couple stretches of this road and it was amazing. I kept telling my buddy to downshift into second, he wanted to try to come out of the corners in 3rd but his car has no torque. and well it made for an awesome night and was a nice little rush. Cant wait to finish my car!!

Thanks for the replys I just emailed him to see how much they weighed and to make sure they are 4X114.3. As long as they aren't to heavy I think I will buy them and get tires mounted and see if I will need to roll the fenders before I paint. Well off to find body parts

What is the easiest CAD program to learn? (Don't have a clue)
24 oz replied to a topic in Non Tech Board
I am in an Archectural Design class and we use AutoCad im not sure of the year i think its around 2003, but we have dummy books for it and they work wonders. At the beginning of the semester I felt like an idiot, and now i can use the system pretty easily without any problems. If you want any info on the dummy books just let me know ill try to find it all out. -
Ya she has insurance, its not the same company, I have State Farm, and ive never heard of hers it was GMAC. but the car is insured up to 4500, which is what I got it for. The body shop I took it to is my uncles best friend, so theres no worries about it not getting fixed right. The only thing is he said hes not sure were to get parts for it, so weres the best place so I can let him know. My car would of been totalled if I didnt do my brake swap (4x4 toyota calipers) because before the swap I couldnt stop for sh!t and I barely would of got slowed down. The thing that pissed me off almost as much as my car getting messed up was that the cops didnt give her a ticket or anything, but the cops were really cool and were on my side so that makes up for it a little bit, I guess. I can finally get the few little dings I have out of my car, I dont really care if I have to pay for them, but im sure the guy will do those for free cause theres only 2 little things.
