  1. correct. external oil relocation. basically i plug the stock pickup hole! redrill on side of block to tap into block source .. feed it to the side of where rear pickup tube can go .. and well yeh ! well now i converted it back to front sump for my 240sx
  2. No but i will once i get it running in my 240sx i will let you know! on this thread!
  3. sorry to post back like 2 years later lol. anyways that hose is what i used as a block breather. I could have machines the block and put in one from a non diesel l block but i didn't want to mod the block anymore more than i already have to get it to where it is now. Anyways this motor is now in my 240sx with a ka24e transmission behind it with l bell housing of course. I wanted to enjoy this old l motor, since I don't have a z to put it in i might as well drop it in something you know. Since this motor i have put a ls1 in my 240sx with 6 speed and well i love that power but i don't just want sell my 3.2 l motor because this is like one of a kind. As far as I know .. like 3 of these have been built and I know about 2 of them because they were friends.
  4. i read the write up on a rb25det in a 280z .. i know the connector that use to power the 280z efi. well i hooked everything up and well im having weird problems like tps having 12v instead of 5 and all that. im thinking i need to wire up a relay for my ignition wires for rb20det ecu and just use the 280z plug to trigger relay ? on rb20det only a few wires.. white/purple blk/red blk/white constant and 2 switched. of course your tacho wire, temp wire, fuel pump ground i wired into a relay and that works with ecu, does 280z already have relays that are connected to that old efi plug somehow ?
  5. ok i have a 1975 280z wth a 1983 280zxt motor. harness computer maf all that is from 83. the 280zxt i had running perfect before removal. i wired everything up as far as the sticky says. coil ignitor contants switched start signals fuel pump relay yada yada yada. anyways when i pull the coil wire off the cap and put it next to some metal to see it send sparks as i crank it. it only sparks 1 time per second or like revolutions. it should sprak every time the rotor passes the cap on each of the 6 cyl. i dont know whats going on . and when i go from ignition on to off it sends a spark. anyone know why it could be doing this ?
  6. i hooked all that up .. i still not getting a steady rytheme spark .. only sparks one time per few revolutions.. its super gay !!!!
  7. i should also add i hav hooked up the blue and red fuel pump signal wire because i cant find it on the 280z. does anyone know where this is ? please let me know and then i think the cas with work and i will get spark when ecu can sense the fuel pump ciruit in the ecu is getting used.
  8. hi i wired everything up according to all the writeups on sticky in the forum. when i crank engine over it only spark 1 time every second or so when it should be sprak spark spark spark as the rotor turns to send spark to each wire. anyone know what might be causing this ? please let me know im desperate. thanks.
  9. Yeah Np for the FYI! I was also thinking of possibly using a 240sx lower control arm so I could use a aftermarket 240sx coilover and 300zx brake setup. All in all its just easier to refurb your stock 240z suspension, install shock and spring and get some aftermarkey adjustable stuff. Possibly putting the sti rack also!!
  10. Yes the rear 240sx irs would be cool, but just thought i would check out the front
  11. I have never had any problems with moog ball joints!
  12. I have my whole 240z front suspension out to refurbish and put all new bushings, tie rod end, tie rods, ball joints, bearings, 4x4 brakes and more. While it was out i wanted to see how nice the 240sx crossmember sets inside the engine bay! I did it rear rack and front rack just to see. I think it would fit pretty good. rear steer rack 240sx style Mounted like a 240z rack and member would look, also it looks like it fit nice. mountning points more mounting points not perfectly lined up but you get the idea. again not perfectly lines up but just a rough idea! Anyways i would do a 240sx front setup on my z but! you have to fab or i will have to check and see how a front tension rods would be mounted to adjust caster of course and what sway bar to use or mounting for 240sx style sway! also i would use a 240sx style coilover setup and use the weld in z caber plates. The 300zx z32 brake calipers I would then use and sell my 4x4 caliper setup! JUST A THOUGHT!!!!!
  13. how is the 240sx dash install working out ? when i test fit one in my 240z the window crank got right in the way of the dash! have you considered that or noticed ? looks good in the z i really wana do it to mine.
  14. The way i have always hooked up newer nissan alternators such as rb ka and sr is. Get a nice sized red wire from starter/batt wire to the power on the alternator. Then the 2 wire single plug that goes into alternator you connect those 2 wires together as one and loop them straight to the possitive on the alternator. It should charge. If you want a charge light the thinner of the 2 wires you can wire to your dash. In my case i normaly dont have a stock dash in the cars i put these motors in
  15. how did the headgasket work out ? i have a 91 mm bore 1mm hks gasket now but water is leaking a lil into my oil i think ima take off and reseal!!!
  16. i built a 3.2 ld28 block and crank with 6 inch z20 rods and 90 mm ka24 pistons, i have a small video clip of me running it on google video. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2382048404444900926&q=3.2+stroker I need to put my bigger cam in. im hoping for 100 hp per liter. I have been pulling it up to about 7500 rpm np im having issues with my hks copper headgasket sealing with the copper spray. i have to use the copper gasket because i cant find a gasket with 90 mm bore. Only gasket i can find is the hks one!
  17. Could you tie into your roll cage ? Or tie in off the mustach bar mounts and diff mount somehow! Have you figured it out yet ?
  18. i have a 1984 nissan maxima .. datsun maxima i should say! rwd... it comes with a 2.4 liter inline 6 l-series .. you all probably know that! also the other cool thing is it is a front sump motor like the rb.. and xmember looks similar to a z but just for a front sump .. anyways i think it would be sweet to toss a rb20det into that thing .. it has irs and rear disc. i also put a 4:11 r200 in it. problem is i never see anyone drifting or racing those things. i have searched all around under datsun 810 datsun maxima .. dont find verry much. anyways another thing is when i pulled the motor from the maxima the soft motor mounts looked identical to rb20det rubber mounts .. it was werid
  19. yeh ... well the front sump issue kinda sucks but you can use the pickup and pan from a 240z but you have to route an external oil line to the front of block to rear. head bolt situation i just had the holes in the head made bigger to fit the bigger bolts, the l20b cover is not that hard to find.. comes in a truck.. and as far as the bore .. yes very small but . i was able to fit 90mm ka pistons in it by sleeving the block oh yeh and the rods .. z20 baby 6 INCH, and the ld28 crank everyone knows wasnt designed to spin very high .. so i got it knifedged and balanced with rods and 240z front pully.
  20. regrinds from stock cams .. try to find a cam with biggest lobes to use as cores so you have more material to work with. i havnt had any issues with my cams .. i have a guy down the street with a cam doctor, cam profiler and he checks them out before i use them!
  21. what kinda cam you want i can get one ground for you .. where you located ?
  22. thats mine. i posted in here look on next page on l-6 people wrote things about it.
  23. im hoping for 100 hp per liter ! well see i dont wana have high hopes and get shot down !
  24. here is the NEW video link LONGER VIDEO! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2382048404444900926&q=240z
  25. basically it is the same as a l20b that how the timing cover will work. anyways i dont have clearance issues with the hood but i would say i wish i could push the motor back about 6 inches more towards the firewall! but didnt wana bother with motor mounts and resizing drivline!
