  1. thank you all for giving me car props... i do have some picture already posted but since you are asking i will post alot more pictures.......
  2. the babe was rented and the air ducts are customed u guys know anyone who makes fiberglass panels???
  3. Dear Brothers of the 280zx's, I am searching high and low for some one in hybridz who has made up fiberglass front fender panels/doors and rear hatch for my beloved 280zx. I have the means to making these parts myself here in malaysia but its very time consuming and this means i will have to take the panels off my own car and make the mould... i'm lazy and i dont want to have my car out of commission for so long... i have lotsa events and races to attend with my newly built RB30det 280zx... as you all can see from the picture i have made a fiber bonnet in the picture below.
  4. stealth-z and stony, yes the vg30dett pistons are dish like and are relatively flat. i'm hoping for a 8.5:1 CR but how does the 7.8:1 cr engine drive??? i hear its sluggish and would not be an ideal daily driver. stony you quoted RIPZ and he said to just use whatever we had. i dont think a 7.8:1 CR would be good right. is the only way to solve this by taking at least 2mm off the top of my block and closing the gap between head and piston @tdc? or is there another way of doing this?? bear in mind i'm also using a cometic metal head gasket at 1.2mm. dont think i can get a thinner head gasket.
  5. Careless, you are right about the rods.. the vg rods are exectly the same length as well just a tad bit thinner. going back to the piston, does this mean that i do not need to deck my block? should i have just left the block without skimming the top and dump the piston in as it is? i should end up with more or less 8.5:1 compression ratio? i am not sure about the compression height being so close between the stock rb30 vs the vg30dett pistons.... the vg pistons look much lower in height... only problem is that i have not put them in the engine and brought it uo TDC yet. pls advise.
  6. guys.. i'm going to use vg30dett pistons... i've decked the block, taken about 2mm off the top of it... i wonder if anyone else here has used these pistons and what will my compression ratio be........ i wonder why one one uses these pistons??? i also had to port the cylinder 1.5mm to make these pistons fit... i'm affraid that after i put this pistons in there it would'nt work and i would get an engine that has such low compression that it drive like crap. i doubt that the compression ratio would be higher then 8.5:1
  7. here guys, this is my 375hp daily driver.... its got too much mods....just check out pics and feel free to provide feedback.. its a fiberglass bonet..... customed.
  8. Guys i get 22mpg here on 97 octain gas in Malaysia. this is mostly bumper to bumper town driving and occasional highway boosting. i'm running on a TO4S turbine @ 1 bar or boost, 4.11 final drive on my R200 MLSD, stock rb25det 5 speed gearbox, SR20 injectors 450cc, with 375WHP. i have clocked close to 30mpg on highway cruzin b4 with the same set up.

cut and paste job on making my own adjustable custer arms... lower arms have also been cut and paste'ed...
  14. bro, the answers are here.... the stock turbine on the rb25 can only take up to 0.9bar of boost... that something like 11-13psi of boost before the ceramic fins blow. On 0.9bar boost your rb25det will probably only be pushing 290 flywheel horse power.... thats something like 240-250whp.... thats what mine was doing one a fully stock engine.. nothing changed... and i'm running a series 1 rb25det . hope this helps... z-monster
  15. dear guys, this is the second time i am typing this as i lost the last post i submitted. thanx for you inputs. I have gathered that only good things are to come from installing RCA's for our cars. I have a few more quick questions before running off to the machine shop though. 1) i was going to make the RCA with a little bit of an angel on the mto get a natural camber from the car.. i will make them to one inch thick and have 2 degrees of camber dialed into them. would this compromise anything as i have notice most RCA's sold four our cars are neutral. 2) By adding a one RCA i would have to lower my shocks by another 1 inch to get the same ride height I have now. As it is i have already compressed the srpings by 1/4 of an inch and would compressing the springs another inch would it compromise my ride quality and performance? this is all i have to find out before i go runnin gto the machine shop to get myself some RCA's!!! you guys make alot of sense to me and would really really appreciate your feedback on these last few issues. thank you Kevin
  16. Guys, I have been contemplating making a set of RCA's for my 1980 280zx to reduce bump steer in a lowered z. I have read somewhere in this site that RCA's were the way to go for lowered Z's but I dont seem to ba able to find the posting anymore. Anyways, I dont know how RCA's are going to help me my ride quality and reduce bumpsteer when my z is lowered to the extend that my lower arm is not level with the ground. I know from theory that thats the best set up anyone can ask for. So my big question is, should i go ahead and make RCA's anyways for the front or just to forget about it as its as good as it gets. I'm happy with my ride height but I feel things can be improved. I race my z ofthen and am always to look into areas of improvement. Has anyone installed RCA's for the front of their 280zx? I am currently running adjustable coilovers and can easily increase the my ride hight to get more of an angle on my lower arm and increase travel but thats not going to make the car more stable. input from yall is very much appreciated. Kevin
