  1. Did you clear coat afterwards or just the black?
  2. Just got done, two coats of krylon flat black/ primer 2 in one paint.
  3. Yea it came out nice. I have to touch up a couple spots where the bondo didn't get sanded down enough and repaint those parts but its all good. It got dark after my first coat so I touched up some little stuff this morning too. About $80 and 12-16 hours of work and this is what it looks like. Before And after Since my car was black to begin with that might be why it tool less coats. Again its not perfect but for the first time I've done any body work and any spray painting that wasn't on a wall or train, I'd say it came out pretty nice. Oh and by the way, the before picture was of the good side of the car hahahha the other fender did not match the rest of the paint and the headlight bucket was chipped something terrible. But the headlight bucket was replaced and everything is now the same color, even the paint chipped wiper arms.
  4. Done! Did it in about 5 cans, 2 coats on the whole car.
  5. Awesome thanks guys. Ill make sure to post some pictures when its all said and done. Unfortunately I think I got rid of the before pictures I had on my computer that showed the rust spots so I just have some old full pictures of my car.
  6. Hey guys, I was wondering how many rattle cans it took you to flat black your cars. I have a 280zx and I started the sanding, replacement of the headlight bucket, and small bits of bondo today. I am hoping to get the bondo sanded down tomorrow tape everything up and lay down the paint. So if anyone can give me an idea of how much paint to get I would appreciate the help. I am pretty confident in my spray can skills hahaha but if anyone has any tips, your knowledge is always welcome. Side note, It was cool to start doing this body work today. I was very surprised with some parts of the car that looked nasty but once I started sanding it was just whoever did the work before did a terrible job and didn't sand the bondo that they put on down smooth and stuff like that. I'm also happy I'm not paying anyone a ton of money to do this, just a friend some pizza and beer to have an extra set of hands around. Its not as hard as I thought it would be once I started doing the work. Tomorrow should be good I just hope it doesn't get windy around here when it comes time for paint. Between this paint job and the matte black XXR 527's that I'm planning on getting I think I will have a pretty sweet looking car, especially once I get it lowered. Slowly but surely moving in the right direction.
  7. Well your probably not going to get to far on here unless you start talking specifics. What do you want to do with the car, HP goals, that kind of stuff?
  8. I'm thinking about running these wheels on my 1980 ZX in the 16X8.25 +0 size. I feel like they should fit pretty nice with a 245/50R16. Edit: decision made... matte black, only because I don't think bronze would look good with all the chrome on the 1980zx.
  9. Does it run? What are your goals for the car? Stock motor I'm guessing??? I would look in the threads for the L motor and go from there. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/forum/32-nissan-l6-forum/ There is a TON on information on this site but make sure you search first and ask when you cant find it. Try looking in the members projects section too. A lot of guys have done a lot of things to there cars and put some pretty detailed write ups on just about everything. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/forum/58-s130-series-280zx/ That is for S130 cars but it doesn't hurt to look back at the S30 projects too because a decent amount of guys are running L28 motors in there S30s.
  10. The sizes from the group buy fit nice. 17X9 -13 and 17X9.5 -19 or something like that. Its the only offset those sizes come in. Some guys are running the 9.5s all the way around but when I asked them they said it was a pain in the butt to get set up in the front. but the staggered 9s in the front 9.5s in the back look nice. Search on here or google and plenty of pictures should come up.
  11. What size wheels and tires did you end up going with? I remember you had that fit issue before with the old set.
  12. Any idea what the shipping would be for something like that?
  13. Will the cover from a '76 L28 work for you? If so I have one that would just need to be cleaned up.
  14. Still looking for S130/280ZX body panels local or close to local. Fenders, doors, hood maybe, hatch with glass, rust free and dent free. My goal is to save money come body work time.
  15. That could be cool, flares are a little bit back on the wishlist right now, but I appreciate the heads up.
  16. Thanks but I am trying to cut my bodywork expenses with rust free panels. If its anything other than surface rust I might as well just stick with what I have.
  17. Those are pretty cool. I was more interested in the fenders and stuff from showcars but since they are no good Ill have to find something else.
  18. I have heard bad things about them from guys on here too, which sucks because his fender flares are pretty sweet and Im eventually going to flare my zx.
  19. So glad I checked on here before actually ordering anything. I have already been burnt on one occasion, thanks for saving me from a second one.
