  1. this is the site i went to http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/products/turbochargers.html i guess i don't see what yer talking about??
  2. i didn't join in 2000 but 2001. i only have 248 posts in 6 years gees! i still poke around here and there. and have a bunch of inactive periods for a month or so. i usually come back cuz no one in the other forums can answer my questions. also i like people who can make an idiot understand. like me i kicked around zcar.com for a year or so before i found this place. that was back when zcar was an on place to go. now they drive me nuts! to many ricers kill in z's. i haven't been there in months!
  3. where can i see these new garrett turbos???
  4. ohh.... i guess i have been misunderstanding? i thought compounded and sequential was the same thing. but yes i meant one after the other in series. thanks for pointing that out
  5. yeah, but i like kickin around here either way. i found other sites that are fun to go to. but this one seems to provide the most info... alot of people here cobble thing together and get creative. at other site they buy "kits" and thats no fun
  6. i guess lets say you had 2 dodge diesel trucs. mod for mod they are the same. but one has compound turbo's and the other had true twins. i'm betting the one with compound set up would win?? but could the one with twins hold it own? would it still do ok? or would it just lag behind like it had one single turbo??
  7. lol your a funny fella.. i know how compounds work... i know how twins work..... i understand compounds are more efficient as far was low and top end power. but why not have a set of twins? i guess just to be different. i don't really have a goal in mind.
  8. no no no........ i don't want compounded set up!! yes i know what compounded turbo's are. most dodge diesel guys utilize the stock turbo and add a hx50 and up to a hx60 for home grown compound set up. see all the diesel guys are using a compound set up. but why not true twins?? never been done as far as i know..
  9. so i couldn't use for exaple 2 t3's or 2 t4's???
  10. lol that would help huh? but i guess most subjects have been discussed on here at one point in time. if we all searched no one would post does it matter if it on a Gasser or diesel?? bet that hasn't been discussed
  11. just woundering who the oldest member here are. i was looking at my account. never noticed i have been here since 2001 lol been here that long and still never got a v8 in my z but i do still own a z
  12. whats better and why compound turbo's or twins?? i realize you could probably compound a set of twins for 4 separate turbo's i ask because this is the best place for info i know of. sorry this is not z related. but this set up would be for a 5.9 I-6 cummins diesel. every one on the cummins site i go to buy the kits (compound turbos) i was thinking of cobbling ups a set of twins. what do you guys think?
  13. good to know i learn somthin new every day
  14. really? i guess it's a bit different going from gas to diesel cuz most of the guys around 300hp diesel's are swaping out for a hx40/35 hybrid. i just picked up a cupple of hx40's i think i may use on my cummins. my dodge came with a wh1c it's like the older version of the hy35 or an hx35 one or the other.
  15. i'm not dowing the hy35. i was just thinking for future up grade purposes an hx35 seems like a better foundation. because the hx's series can swap and trade parts to make a better turbo, where the hy. well..... doesn't match up to an hx. but you can aloways swap em'. i think it's a direct swap from an hy to an hx. should both bolt up to the down pipe the same way. but an hx 40 doesn't also the hx40 uses an t4 size flange on the exhaust. i have a dodge diesel so i have done some of the reserch for upgrades. thats the only reasion i know a lil about em'. so far i have a 4" exhaust, 10# torqueplate. and an hx40 turbo. i havn't put the turbo on yet. i would like larger injectors and a down pipe to match of corse. you can buy one of those banks "quick spool exhaust housings" with a larger waste gate. for either the hy35 or hx35. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Banks-Quick-Turbo-w-Wastegate-94-02-Dodge-Diesel-5-9_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQhashZitem280036726385QQihZ018QQitemZ280036726385QQrdZ1 i seen em' go cheeper. but i think you might like this. the dodge guys with minimal upgrades love em'
  16. turbo's are exhats driven we all know this ther are two types of superchargers/ blowers. to me i call a "true" blower the kind that mount on top of your engine with carbs/ or FI. forcing air and fuel. then there are those others that just force are. i refer to them as a belt driven turbo. on an other note i stand corrected! 8v92 is a 2 stroke! i asked my buddy this morning.
  17. why an hy35? i'm not trying to be rude but would an hx35w be a better choice? about the same size exhaust housing big shft and larger intake housing. also the for the most part the HX series parts are interchangable. like you can later go with an hx35/hx40 good for over 40lbs of boost. sorta like a t3t4 hybrid. you can however buy a banks quicks spool exhaust housing for an "hy" tyrbo. but when ordering keep in mind hy35s came on automatics only.
  18. i believe the 92 series is 4 stroke. a friend of mine ahd on in his boat.over 1000hp! he's soon replacing it with a D-deck 8v92 for more power.
  19. nope! NEVER a supercharged diesel! i'm 100% sure. the blower was to force in and push exhaust out. drtroit 2 strokes have ports on the side of the cylonders to allow this to happin. it was not to add horse power on a 2 stroke detroit. there a gut i believs it PDR "piers diesel reserch" trying to make a supercharged kit for diesels . it works but not well. they say they aare having a hard time trying to get the boost out of it. when a diesel turbo we are boosting up around 40+ psi.
  20. there isn't any supercharged diesels. it's just not effictive. they can't make enough boost. seen people try and they ar not "true" suprechargers they only force air not fuel and air. true as in 6:71 4:71 4:53 etc.. top mount. a blower on a 2 stroke diesel is NOT for proformance!
  21. well i just started friggan around. the old ihi turbo i been holdin on to seems to be seized up. damn it!!! luckly i think my buddy has one i can buy for like 25 bucks i put the pb blaster to mine to see i could un seize it but i donno if it's gonn come out of it. well if i hae to i also have some good t3's i could use but seemslike a smaller ihi rbh5 would better for the application. also any one know where i can fine a flange for a ihi turbo? i ave the exhaust "out" flange but i need one to weld to the exhaust "IN" to the engine. i could make one but i rather just order it.
  22. oh ok simple enough i already have one i didn't realize what it was. i have a stainless exhaust from a jet ski i parted out i thought i might use for this project.
  23. what this expansion chamber all about? show me i'm a hands on type of guy
