Since your in Kiwi you shouldnt have any problems with Engine Choices. If you ask me forget the L28ET...well at least bringing one in from the US. Just turbo an L28 you find lying around in a junkyard....if done right they can be just as good as a factory L28ET. I say that if you want a decent amount of power on a budget go for an RB20DET or a 1JZGTE. If you want big power go 2JZGTE or RB26DETT. Nissan engines are great, but so are Toyota motors. RB30ET would be nice as well but I know that in Australia they cost way to much for what they are. Similar story in NZ im sure. Didnt you guys in NZ also get another version of the Commodore VL turbo? wasnt it a 2 litre or something??

It was around about a 5 issue cover on the transplanting of a 1JZGTE into a 240Z (RHD). A friend scanned these for me, its not all the articles, but the guts of it I thnk....ahh hang on...I cant post attachments here! Oh well....guess you all miss out... If anyone wants to host them let me know Cheers

I am not sure if the Auto box will fit or not. I do think though (iirc) that a shop in Brisbane/Gold Coast does some sort of $15,000 deal to turn your Rb25 into a 10sec (11sec? getting a bit hay here) and I think they use an Auobox

If your going to bother with anything like buying wholesale motors, dont go to the tuners/garages to buy the stuff, go where they go....to auctions. Come over to Japan and bring half-cuts andengines back, thats the way to go. Apparently the place to go is hokkaido...Havent been there yet but planing on a trip

ahhh, I can hook you up with parts, but not engines at the moment. A friend I know possibly can hook you up with an RB26 from either australia or Japan. I gave him your e-mail addy.... Ray

You can always even find ppl from Japan to send them to you in the states...like me If have a couple of things atm actually.....

They are all the same size. Most people put the early SU's onto the L28

Hi, I have found some Intake manifolds for my Triple Mikuni phh40's....One is a brand new FET manifold, and the other is a used SK Santo manifold. Does anybody know what price would be fair to offer for these? Does anybody know anything about these manifolds ? Cheers Ray

Hi, Just wondering how most Turbo's perform relative to their Advetised HP rate. I see some turbo's which are 'rated' at say 600HP...but people who are using them may only be getting around say 400HP out of them. Is it a matter of just turning up the boost (only if the engine can handle it of course) to obtain that advertised power? Also....if I was only getting 400HP out of my 600HP turbo....would I get more HP out of say a 700HP rated Turbo, or would it stay about the same? Its just that I see people who look at a HKS turbo which is rated at a certain HP, and they go "That turbo will give me xxx HP"....but I have never seen it work liek that. Cheers

Thanks Mike, Much appreciated. I have e-mailed Mikuni in japan to see if they have any manuals for them. Are the webbers/Del'lortas/mikuni all similar enough that I could buy a book on the other two and everything will still make sense ? Cheers

Hi, I just bought some Twin barrel Mikuni's but Im a bit confused. They have Solex written on them as well as mikuni...what does this mean? one side of the barrel is 44mm...and the other side is 38mm....so what size mikuni's do I have? Any other info on them would be much appreciated as well.. Cheers Ray

Datsun V6? What engine are you reffering to ?
-
Hmmm...I guess tuning would be a bit of an issue... I think that the THEORY of twincharging is much better than that of twinturbo's. I did a little bit of reading on the subject last night, and it seems that it might be easier to have the SC feeding the Turbo. The problem is though is that once the turbo starts spooling under its own power it will spin the SC rotors too fast. You could get around this though by having some bypass valve so then the turbo would not be pulling air through the SC.....
-
OK so these setups have the SC blowing straight into the Turbo? Hmmm...I guess that might be simpler....

Hi, I as just throwing around the idea of having a roots style blower and Turbo charger on the same engine being fed through the same intercooler. Basically the idea would be to have the supercharger engadged until the Turbo started making power, and then switch the blower off. The main problem I see here is the air eing blown back through the Supercharger and vice versa... Any ideas ? Cheers

I tried ordering the backissues...but they are already sold out. I THINK it was something like issues 26-31 or something like that

Funny you say that, I just got an e-mail from Kenne-Bell, he seems to know what he is talking about. I think though that the V6 3.8L in our commonwhores are not the same design as the GN turbo so probably not much chance of whacking on a turbo and making silly HP
-
Just wondering....In the commodore VR here in Australia we got a 3.8L buick engine...V6. They didnt come in turbocharg'ed form....but maybe a turbocharger could be 'whacked' onto it and put out some nice numbers. Did you receive the 3.8L in NA form in the states as well? How well do they hold up ? Cheers Ray
-
Yeah you could get one in Aussie for 3500AUD without a whole lot of problems. How much to 2JZGTE's sell for in the states? This would be the route I would go.....

There was actually a thread on the corvette forum, A Corvette owner was talking trash to this Civic owner...the civic owner wasnt really talking much trash back, but simply asking to have a race to prove his civic would take his corvette...after the corvette owner talked a bit more trash they finally met up....and the civic trounced him

Yep...but you were in Japan when you had the engine fitted and tuned....and you said you were planning on moving back there, so your situation isnt like most others in the states.

Local Drag Strip in Japan (No Honda's racing there)

I think it depends on how old your car is as to how often you need to get the shaken done.....I thought it was only once every two years...I could be wrong though, and yeah they can do you for having a smashed car. Funny thing is though, I see a fair few smashed cars around that are fixed up with Sticky Tape!! I kid you not...I pass this one parked Rx7 everyday, one day his front grill/bonnet/headlight was all smashed up, the next day he has stuck apiece of foam in the space where the headlight used to be, and in front of this foam he has attached a headlight! All bound up in Tape!! I wish I had a digital camera....its soo funny If you buy a honda in Japan because you want a fast performance race car....then well...your an idiot -
Wow....Im glad that your car did stall....its too easy to die out on the roads. When I was a youngen I used to be a chemistry freak and liked to make explosives(no I never blew up anyones property) and fireworks. My older sister use to always chastise my Father for allowing me to do this...he always said that its not what I make in the shed that worried him, but when I am out on the road behind the wheel that scared him the most. Too too true, I have had friends die behind the wheel and have almost been a victim myself a couple of times....damn scary if you think about it too much.

haha....I was about to point out that it was a 180sx...heh, I really should look past the emblem
