  1. Thats a bloody good price if the body is in anyway good.
  2. Cheers. Also, ppl should check out www.toymods.org.au as I think Australians have had a lot more to do with 1JZ's and engine conversions and the guys here are QUITE knowledgable. I think I will try and hang out for a MKIV W58. That way I dont have to stuff around with adaptor plates and it will be a reasonably strong box
  3. ahh K, I thought that the supra rear-end was something like a 3.2 or something around there.
  4. Dude, you party pretty hard Your car looks well wiked as well, I like the steering wheel. What sort of wheels are they ? Pity that you didnttake pics of the mount when the engine was out of your car.
  5. The 6spd os definately NOT a good idea (well, if money is an issue). First of all they cost a bucket load and the ratio's of an R200 would be a bit off Im sure. An R154 is not all that easily found here in Australia. Next best option is a W58 from a JZ engine. Im a bit cash strapped at the moment, so the project is on hold at the moment. Im actually working on changing out the pedal box from auto->manual.
  6. I heard (any maybe 260Det/Richard may know about this) that one of the members of the Qld Z car club was selling an AWD Zed project which he had started. Maybe he realised it was too much work.
  7. I have seen them on yahoo auctions a few times. I wouldnt consider getting one though, simply because it'd just be easier to get a manifold done up for your turbo of choice.
  8. Well I was gonna be out there possible fiting up the engine this week but I got Chicken Pox One thing I must say....If you can get a Manual halfcut for $3000 or so do it, as you wont be able to do it any cheaper. Im upto about $1500 for Engine with all wiring and ECU etc (have a spare wiring loom left over as well). R154 is going to cost upto around $1500. The guys in Zoom did the job pretty arse backwards...well in the sensee that they used an Auto bellhousing, then an adaptor to fit a W58 box up. Thats where most of there problems came about. RB25 might be an easier swap, but it aint the engine a 1JZ is EDIT: re the shifter posistion, the R154 and 6spd sit waayy at the back. with the W58 hooked upto the adaptor plate on the Ben's car, and the engine sitting waay back, they only just got the shifter up thorugh the hole, so depending on how far back the R154/6spd shifter is, it may work out just right
  9. Have you ever bought anything from yahoo? If you can buy stuff from yahoo, its a great way!! However...I would never buy things which are too big (even a turbo is too big/heavy IMO, if you are sending via post). It would be a hassle to have just one motor shipped over from japan. I agree with Bob on this. Plus you dont get to see it, no warranty etc. If you really want a cheap engine, have some money, have some contacts in Japan who are in the know, come over to a wrecking yard and just pull a container load of engines and send em back to the US. That way you have a VERY cheap engine, and you can make a killing from the selling the 30+ engines in your container
  10. I've bought several items from yahoo auctions. You need to fill out a registration form. You need to give an address in Japan, and most important of all, you need to give them a .jp ISP e-mail account. If you cannot read Kanji (or get it translated) your gonna be pretty much stuffed. Once you have your account you can start bidding, once you have a succesful bid, you will get an e-mail from the person (in japanese of course) and they will tell you the account to do a 'furikomi' into. You need to be able to read Kanji or get it translated for the bank account. YOu then need to go down to the ATM machine, and transfer your money to their account. Although some ATM's have english, they only have limted english fuctions. The bank I was with (Tokyo Mistubishi) didnt have there 'furikomi' in english, so again, you need to read Kanji because a translator wont help you in this case. I dont read much kanji, but I read katakana and hiragana which helped...but was still a bit trickey. Of course if you are not in Japan than your pretty much screwed anyway (unless you have someone to forward it to) PS: RB26 turbo's often go for about $500 USD in Australia...and we speak english
  11. Let me know if you ever are coming to Brisbane. But future changes are possible, there is a Haynes book by Simon McBeath, Competition Car Downforce, which looks interesting. It may be described on www.haynes.co.uk Actually...I live in Brisbane
  12. Hi, I have heard that there are a couple of differnt size ZG flares floating about.... Im guessing these would be the big variety ?
  13. Richard, I would be interested in seeing that setup oneday.
  14. Just wondering...is it hard to get adaptors made so we can fit 5 lug wheels ??
  15. kalium99

    Went racing

They all suck...except for the first one which is cool
  16. hey hey hey....lets not forget the 1JZ.
  17. I got all the original articles on dead tree format about a month ago. I dont think its gonna be that hard of a swap
  18. hehe, I think they came in Datto 1600's
  19. The 7M-GTE is a great powerplant, or a piece of **** , depending on who you talk to. I know people who have had to rebuild about three of these engines before realising it was a lost cause. Then again, others will say that after changing the headgasket and re-torqueing the head you shouldnt have any problems with them at all and can make huge HP 'reliably'. They are an old engine design though... Im actually looking at eventually grabbing a CT26 turbo from a 7MGTE, highflowing it and putting it on my 1JZGTE. There are people out there who are getting 550HP out of a highflowed CT26...and thats on an Aussie dyno! You Americans would see even higher figures!
  20. OK, well the engine is sitting in my garage now. How much does the AEM ECU cost? I am not looking at spending mega bucks on top of the range ECU, just want something that is half decent and will do the job. The Wolf 3D seems to fit into that category so far. I went to look at a W58 from a 1GGTE on the weekend. They wanted 600AUD for it, but I was speaking to the guy I got the engine off, and he reckons he could get me a box that has a JZ bellhousing for that price.... I just had a look in the piping from the compressor outlet of the front turbo...and there is oil in it Maybe this means I will be going single sooner than what I thought.....
  21. Im in hte middle of trying to gather the information together...will keep you posted. I can tell that it isnt going to be all that straight forward though
  22. Well, I went out to see the engine the other day and I decided to buy it. I am going to pick it up on friday. Its the 1JZ engine, with wiring harness, and the other usual stuff. Except no gearbox, and no ECU, which is no problem as I am planning on getting aftermarket ECU.... I would have gotten a half-cut, but all the half cuts are Auto's and I picked up this engine REAL cheap. My 260Z wont know what hit it
