  1. My issue is that people are now building them that way on purpose, but taking it WAY overboard. It's become a parody of itself. A perfect example is the '36 Ford recently featured in Popular Hot Rodding that looked as if it had rolled out of a barn after having been in there since the '50s, complete with worn-out hand-painted racing signage and rust holes...

...and it was a brand-new from the ground up fiberglass-bodied car! The rust was FAKE. Nothing on the car was old.

Hahaha, like the VW guys that had rusted hoods on their cars. I can't find any pics right now.

  2. Well my foot is nicely placed in my mouth, so I'd like to apologize, ls1. I didn't read your whole post and just assumed that you were some newb who heard about this magic POR15 stuff that cures all rust or whatever. Sorry to jump to conclusions and welcome to HybridZ, by the way.

  3. Well, the ZX is sitting in the driveway at home right now. Something is up with the fuel pump relays so I'm waiting on replacements right now. After I get that figured out I still need to do some carb tuning on the 305 so I can drive it around this summer. As for plans, I picked up a 89 L98 block from Mobythevan (Brian) a couple weeks ago and plan on a Cam/Intake/Head build on that eventually. But before I can do any of that I have to start working again, lol.

  4. I read that article, and they claim that they followed up with 3M to see if the adhesive really would transmit heat. Supposedly that tape is made specifically to be thermally conductive, so at least the tried to make it legitimate...I'd looks like something I'd be tempted to use on IC piping, but I worry about it getting enough cool air across it under the hood to matter.

I've heard of some kind of 3M tape that is designed for thermal conduction before, specifically in computer heat sink applications. I'd assume it's the same stuff?

I would never seriously suggest you are baned for a comment of this nature....its just my flippy response, sorry if it came across hard ass.

I look at it this way...that Pantera is of vintage collector status....it made it this far because its unique and not "just a car" ..... it is a shame to see its not being taken care.

Choice of words can have powerful interpretations.....as we both are seeing. :D

Jerry, I didn't think you were serious. I knew you were being facetious. I agree that it is gut wrenching to see such a rare and beautiful car outside rotting, but I'd rather see a car rot than a man destroy his life to save an object.

  6. Ban this dude!

    Owch...

I'm not saying they not superb cars, I'd love to own either. Hell, I'd love to just drive either. All I was trying to point out is when it comes down to it, they are just piles of metal. I love cars and couldn't imagine myself with out a project car, but some people get in over their heads and start ruining their lives for, once again, a pile of metal. Do we know the circumstances of these cars being left in the snow? Who is the owner and what are his plans/goals for the cars? There's a lot more to the picture than two very nice cars being left in the snow.
