  1. I'm about to section my struts on my 240z but the weld on rings don't fit snug whatsoever to the strut tube, is this right or have I been sent the wrong rings?
  2. I doubt it could be mounted the same as LHD z's due to RHD steering clearance issues, its very close now. I'm using a T5 with a custom Dellow straight up bellhousing, the only problem I thought was the driveline angle as moving the engine to the left would move it in the opposite direction to the diff. I'm a bit confused though Tony, as I've swapped the plates and spacers to move the engine back and to the left, isn't this the same as LHD cars, just a mirror image so to speak and is the only difference a slight weight distribution to the right?
  3. Done!! I swapped the plates over as well as the spacers, it fits great, thanks for the help guys!!
  4. I've trial fitted my SBC with the JTR kit, I have the spacers on the opposite side to you guys because I've got RHD, but when bolted up the engine tilts on an angle down towards the passenger side, is this normal? I have the kit on the drivers side in order of spacer(large), plate, mount and the passenger side, plate, spacer(small), mount.
  5. Ok I found an article on atlanticz site regarding this and it seems like the outer metal sleeves on the front and rear control arms aren't needed with the ES kit?
  6. I've got a set of ES bushes for my 240Z and I've seen that most people cut the metal sleeve where the rubber bush and spindle pin go into, just wondering where do you get new sleeves from as they don't come in the bushing kit and I can't see them on the MSA site?
  7. Nice lines Dave, I think I may have to buy one of those tools myself.
  8. I noticed in the JTR book it says to reroute the fuel and brake lines, I imagine this is because with spacing the motor towards the passenger side the tranny gets too close to the lines but I have RHD and space the motor the opposite way so I wouldn't have to do this?
  9. Here is a pic of my latch, looks like it might fit, I guess cost is a factor also as a small diameter MSD dizzy with 6AL will cost about $900 AUD and an MSD HEI will be about $200. From my JTR book it says with a HEI the tacho needs to be replaced with a 260z model, is this the case with your dizzy speedracer? One more option I've been thinking of is modifying the stock hood latch, maybe cutting off the whole bottom section of the support leaving just the top then welding two support arms to the firewall on a wide angle?
  10. This looks like it might work. http://www.msdignition.com/product.aspx?id=5593
  11. Definetly going carb, want to stay away from EFI, the smaller MSD looks interesting, i might mount the motor in place first then do some measurements. That MSD dizzy says it won't accept a vacuum canister, isn't that needed?
  12. I was wondering what options there are for the JTR kit so i can keep the stock latch, I've seen there are magnetic type which seem to be a lot smaller, anyone used something similar?
  13. Good read Pete, now I'm thinking of a TKO instead of a T5.
  14. I've been looking into this also and quicktime list a bellhousing to mate a mustang t5 up to a SBC http://www.quicktimeinc.com/products.html#chevy
  15. I dropped the panels off to get dipped and the rest of the car I'm doing myself with paint stripper.
  16. Probably a typo, check the sizes again it lists 15x7 and 15x8
  17. The flares had to come off to fix the rust behind them and I love ZG flares. Got the car stripped, dropped off the panels to be dipped as well so time to start paint stripping the car.
  18. I'm trying to find the right part number at Rock auto for the S12 solid disk caliper but when I pick the make and year(toyota pickup 1980) a heap of different calipers come up and I'm not sure which ones I need, can anyone help?
  19. Hmm, maybe I got the wrong shocks, I guess the other question is do I really need to section the struts. The 240 is in resto stage at the moment but I'm running the SBC with zg flares and 16x9 and 16x9.5 watanabes. From what I've read if you use camber plates that drops the height about 1.5 inches straight away, I'm still new to all this mechanical side of things and it gets pretty confusing.
  20. Thanks for the info, I think I'll go for 200f and 225r. Also I bought the 240z illuminas but I see that some of you guys are using mr2 fronts, will my ones work okay with sectioned struts?
  21. The place I was goping to buy the GC coilovers from says the spring rates for the illuminas are 425/250, does that sound right to you guys?
  22. Mostly spirited sunday driving, it may see the track every once in a while but not that much, I'll probably get another mx5 down the road and use that as my track beast. I guess the main thing that worries me is will the stardard rates from the GC coilovers be fine.
