  1. MSA: $32.95(each) for 70-83z. I have no idea about the CV joints
  2. I'm interested in contacting them also. And, i emailed showcars-bodyparts.com about their fiberglass front end, along with just basic stand alone L/R fenders, hood, and headlight buckets, for pricing; plus pictures of some of their flare kits, and i got no response. Anybody have stuff from them and know prices? Also, the JC Whitney website said the front end was for 70-74 240z, would that fit my 77 280z? i didn't think there was that much difference, but i'm not positive. Thanks.
  3. Sorry for my laziness, but i didn't even do a search for this one because i didn't know what to search for... i've been told i over think things, but i was thinking...if i were to weld on frame rail re-enforcers, or other parts i couldn't access both sides of after the fact, how do i rust proof the new metal? i first thought, well i'll pre-paint them, but then i know welding will just burn the paint off again. rambling now, sorry, anyway, i'm lost as to how to prevent new rust Please enlighten me thanks. Pat.
  4. eh, the 345/25 20s i saw at work are HUGE, not saying they'd fit, but they're big. i work at UPS in toledo (we get all of tire rack's tires going to NE coast) btw...STOP BUYING TIRES NEW ENGLAND !!! i mean jeez, 100-500+ a night, every night, since Oct. last year is a bit much. ever lift a mounted tire over your head to load all the way to the top of a semi-trailer? repeatedly? sorry, just got off work...but yea, i see some interesting tires.
  5. There is a "Turbo & High-tech Performance" magazine article about a guy turbocharging a triple throttle body induction, but i think he pretty much modified the bejesuz out of it to handle a lot more fuel. The owner of the car is Tod Kaneko and he owns Ziel Motorsports., but anyway, i guess if you have the motivation i'm sure you could supercharge a triple mikuni/weber setup. oh, btw, its the August 2001 issue. Patrick.
  6. Not to change the subject again, but i was thinking about trying to fit a centrifugal blower (vortec, powerdyne, etc.) onto my 77 NA 280. Possibly in place of the A/C or on the opposite side of that. That would take care of a couple of the problems listed above, because the centrifugal setup is kind of like a belt driven turbo, and you can pretty easily intercool them. BUT, i would have to fab up a bracket, some kind of crank pully setup to spin it, and all the necessary piping to get the compressed air through the intercooler and into the intake manifold. But then there's that wow factor somebody mentioned...so i don't know. If i do anything with this idea i'll be sure to take plenty of pics and post them on my page.
  7. Ok, thanks for the help. it seems that could be the cheaper route vs the RB, even with the added $1500 for the SDS. Thanks again. Pat.
  8. ok, i've been doing a lot of reading about both lately, and i'll try not to be redundant, but i have a couple questions regarding both. first: i live in the states and i was wondering where i could get some z31/rb20 motor mounts to put a rb25det into my 77 280. also, how big of a PITA would it be to wire up? money is a huge concern as i have little, but is factory ECU do-able or should i look into SDS or something? (note:i hate wiring and all things related) second: about how much is a 7m-gte motor going to cost? i haven't even checked the salvage yards yet because the 2 i know of around me just suck. plus i don't know what year supras had that engine. ok, thanks for any help, and hopefully my 3g(hopefully more) insurance check will make this all a little easier. (was a passenger in a car that got rear-ended at 60mph by someone not looking, so 3Gs isn't too much right? i was at a dead stop.)
  9. my 77 280z is running rich to the point of spitting the occasional flame at kind of high RPM, full off the gas decceleration. it also sends a little blackish colored smoke on WOT. I'm thinkin i need a new FPR and have been looking at Top-end performance's adjustable one for $59, or something with Aeromotive. So far the only mods are headers, 2.5" exhaust, electric fan, electronic ignition, big bore throttle body and cold air intake, but i would like something that i could adjust to fit further modification. Oh, and any help getting rid of some of the emmissions crap in the pic below would be a great help too. Thanks a lot for any info. Pat. http://www.geocities.com/pmcguff/PICS/eng1.jpg
  10. Yeah, nice cars. Those aren't both his cars are they? That would be nice. I like the wing, but it needs to be about half as tall off the car as it is now. I only wish my money wasn't quite so tight right now, or i would have somethin to worth showing on her , ah well.
  11. Go to www.bfgoodrichtires.com , they have some pretty big 15, 16 and 17 inch tires. Euro T/As have all the way up to 305/50/15 and are H rated. Do you really need a tire that can withstand more than a sustained 112mph? Cause Radial T/As have some pretty big sizes too, but are S rated. Comp T/As are big and Z rated, but those are 17 and 18". My biggest problem finding a wheel and tire combo is that I want wide, but also low profile for improved corning response and I don't want to pay 1600 for the whole thing Oh well, good luck.
  12. I think the temperature difference you're seeing is because you have one piston calipers. The majority of clamping force is being applied to the inside of the rotor, therefore creating more heat. Could also be your wheels letting in air to cool the outer side more then the inner, which ever, shouldn't effect performance too much, but in my opinion, multiple piston calipers would be better than the single kind. But with all the surface area of the 12" rotor and the contact area of the big pads, I bet you see a sizeable increase over stock braking anyway
  13. I don't have the shorter steering knuckles (unless they are a 280 part), or have any idea about being 510s or 280z's, but it seems to me that they would make highway speed steering kind of touchy. I don't know for sure though.
  14. oh yeah, whats up with arizonazcar.com lately, i haven't been able to access their site at all lately?
  15. Sorry if this is been asked to death, I'm relatively new to this forum and search turned up nothing. But anyway, I want to put some stock looking fiberglass fenders on the front of my '77 280Z, so far I've only found ArizonaZ that carries these, but their web site says they don't ship glass if the purchase is less than 1000 bucks, and all i want is the two front fenders and probably both headlight buckets. Any ideas for other vendors? thanks for any help.
  16. Yeah, a lot of places sell 6 into 2 headers and a collector that takes them into one, so dual would be simple, but routing them back seems like a lot of work. goto http://members.home.net/pparaska/index.htm its a V8Z, but theres a lot of good info on what went into his true dual exhaust though his doesn't exit like you want. one idea is to get the system ovaled, you don't lose any flow, but because the tubes are ovals they take up less space at least in height, so maybe you could avoid major body work.
