  1. cool. probably a jet-hot or swain coating. sweet ride bro!
  2. itzgoten, how do you keep the turbo from melting your brake master cylinder reservoirs? i see the blanket on the turbo, but is your manifold coated? this is what happened to mine...i had my manifold wrapped, but then took the wrap off. gonna put a new wrap on this weekend, but i notice you race your Z too. wondering how those underhood temps are.
  3. I think it might be a Jaguar C-Type
  4. The 15x9 have the same backspacing as the 16x9, so yes, you would need coilovers and a 1/4 spacer for the fronts (unless you grind the perch) and poss. for the rear too, depending how far you want to push the rims out. If you have stretched tires, you can use a 10-15mm spacer for the rear. Otherwise, if you are running 225's or wider on them, you would need to probably roll the fenders.
  5. Sweet build so far. Im sure you know you can still go lower though...
  6. Btw, these aren't even close to filling in ZG flares. I have a set of 38mm spacers and zg flares, but I like how they fit and won't bet cutting the body anytime soon.
  7. I just installed some varrstoen v3's on my 77 280z, along with ground control coil overs this past weekend. Have a 1/4" spacer for the fronts, could have used a 1/4" spacer in the rear too, but it was to late to go to the store to find one, so I just had to grind the perch in the rear 2-3mm to make them fit. 16x9 +15... with bf goodrich g-force 205/45/16
  8. I'm working on the rears now, cut 8.5" up, then took 1.75" from that piece i cut off, I'm test fitting the 280z fronts in the rear strut tubes and there is a huge gap! Am i supposed to use a spacer when using the KYB GR-2? I thought that was only with tokiko. Can someone help me out with this? Thanks so much!
  9. hey akeboshi, thanks for your response. after talking with gabriel at TTT, he suggested i use 89-93 celiac all-track rear struts for the front (#365075) and the 280z fronts for the rear (361002). i got the 10" springs, and 200f/225r. can't wait to get them and install it this weekend!
  10. 225 isn't that much stretch on a 9" rim. i have a 205 and it barely has stretch, and the lip saver feature still covers the edge of the rim. there are people putting 195's on 9" rims. i use bf goodrich g-force sport 2s. if you want some ideas on tires/stretch, go to tyrestretch.com. you can look up your rim diameter and width, and look at different size tires, and sometimes they even put the type of tire they are using. good luck.
  11. wow. to be honest you might be better off finding a new car unless you have countless hours and endless money you can throw at this thing. i'd pull the carpet out and look at the floor pan, look under the car at the rails, under the battery, etc. if there is that much rust on the thing, there is probably more hiding, and if there is more hiding, you might want to find a new car.
  12. Hello, Im in the process of putting together parts for my 280z coil over conversion. I have a few questions after reading all the write-ups for this conversion (even though they're mostly all for 240z's) Most of the write-ups i've seen are for 240z, and the ones for 280z are using tokiko illuminas. Unfortunately, tokiko illuminas aren't in my budget right now, and working at a shop, Im able to get a really good price on KYB's. I can pretty much get a set for free at the moment, so that works for me. I will be wanting a 3-4 inch drop on my 280. After reading some posts, I've figured that i will be using the VW jetta struts for the front (#364014) and the 280z front struts in the rear (#361002) and will be section the struts about 2" (i understand when I'm actually cutting the struts I will be measuring and number will most likely change. My question is for sectioning the struts ~2", and expecting a 4" drop, what set of sleeves/springs will i be ordering from ground control? I understand the normal kit comes with larger sleeves, and 12" springs. If i plan to use the above KYB's, should i get the shorter sleeves (i think its 5-6") and the 10" springs for the 240z? I've read the sectioning FAQ and the dirtyS30 writeup numerous times, so i know exactly what i'll be doing when i get the parts, i just need a list of the parts i will be ordering so i can place an order monday for everything. If anyone can help me out with this, i'll be more than happy to do a writeup specifically for 280z, as it seems one is lacking in this department (some of the ones i've seen have people using 240z suspensions, and tokiko illuminas, and that won't work for me at this time.) This isn't going to be a track car, mostly just driving around on the street, possible few passes at the drag strip, so I'm lowering it mostly to fill the gap between my ZG flares, and the 16x9 (+15) rims i have. As far as spring rates, i'll probably be going with 250 fronts, 275 rears. If I'm missing anything, i'm more the happy to get some advice regarding what parts i need to get, spring rates, etc. Thanks everyone for your help.
  13. what is that? is it just a custom car stereo? or a tablet? i'd love to have something like that in my Z to show the megasquirt interface, and play some music or movies at the same time
  14. actually, i think the r8's are around 110-120k...
  15. are we done talking about clothes? good anyways, I'm tempted to get a set of these in 16x9 0 offset and use the 25mm spacer to push them out enough for zg flares. does anyone know what combo will tuck nice and flush under stock rolled fenders? i love the look of ZG flares, but wouldn't mind the hellaflush look with some 16x9 -0 in the rear, and 16x8 +15 in the fronts. is this a good combo? does anyone see problems with a 16x9 0 offset up front under stock fenders? thanks guys...
