    MASKING???

i painted my 280Z and the only things I took off were the headlights and buckets, but then again I wasnt going for show quality paint and Ive had a few years of masking experience so it wasnt hard for me.. for THE BEST results, take EVERYTHING off and apart.. if its just something to get you around then its just up to you how in depth you want to go...
  3. depends on how far you are willing to go...
  4. haha thanks! and still no luck... i borrowed a tester from a friend and I have power TO the hazard switch but not FROM it so in between has to be the issue. For now im just enjoying her haha Yes I did, the front had lowering springs that really didnt seem to do anything so I cut one coil in the front and 2 coils in the rear as per instructions from this site haha
  5. oil change and seafoam and made a HUGE difference! i didnt think it would really do anything but its very noticeable...
  6. haha thanks man, you can buy them if you want to.. i have my eye on some other wheels, but these were easier to obtain and I think they do look really good..
  7. ^^^^ i would have to agree, but these might change my mind in the right sizes... Im waiting on a set for my 350, 18's though so way too big for the s30 haha
  8. thats what I did before paint, and I did the 1500 to 2000 grit after because I wanted it smooth, but I was agreeing that the goal was not to take all the paint off but just to dull it so it doesnt shine and is scuffed enough to take the paint/ primer well... http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/99567-jz33s-build-thread-28/ all of the pics are there, not much info though so I can answer any questions... this was my first home project but I work at a body/custom shop...
  9. i just finished a project VERY similar to yours, and i guess everyone will have different opinion and what you should do or start with... im excited to see how your results differ from mine if at all... BUT i started with 400 grit and went up to 1000 grit (wet sanding) to smooth it but still no shine, like richracing said.. mine is painted with flat white instead of black but i think the results should be similar.... Good luck and post pics!
  10. So as some of you know i was getting rid of my RX7 (FC) and it took me a while but someone finally wanted her, and wanted to trade. Not just any trade, but something that i have wanted for (literally) 16 years now. a 1975 280Z that i can now call mine. I have already begun work on her with a friend of mine and we are sanding her down (previous owner had already done some body work) and getting some fresh paint on her. Then taking care of some suspension issues (4X4 issues) and of course the little things. She runs beautifully already so im not going to mess with that just yet... and for pics! engine shot just because: took some stuff apart like the cowl, air dam, and taillight assembly: working on the wet sanding to even out the body (my friend is helping me so we are each doing one side... but he worked in a body shop) she has been through a few different colors is see... and more progress... just getting the other fender done and the cowl... and reassembly! interior... and the suspension giving me a hassle... and my weapons of choice! i cant get my blinkers to work and apparently i dont have a heater, but other than that everything works even the AC! I traded my wheels for something a little closer to period correct haha and installed some fender mirrors as well.. Appliance mesh, 14x7 with 0 offset.... and my fender mirrors... next is to get the hatch to stop leaking and to fix the stereo and blinkers...
  11. Appliance Mesh 14x7 with 0 offset all around.. and huge tires haha...
