  1. Yeah we are really lucky in NSW now with those new types of plates we have. I couldnt believe they were available. No probs, im not a member but i will join up tonight.
  2. Wow thanks for all the responses guys. Well i did some sums today and to do each pair it will take 2.5-3 hours including making a CAD model etc. I havnt priced the aluminium yet but im thinking $10 max for that. Im thinking around $100 US per pair +post and you can choose your lettering to say whatever you want (within reason, too many or too little letters will look funny). How does that sound?? The line in from the outter edge shouldnt be a problem. The boss is ok with it i have just got to do them sat arvo's or sundays. PM me if you are keen and i can get a quote on aluminium etc and get it happening.
  3. Oh ok. I wasnt expecting that but now i think about it i probaly should have. Haha. Yeah i cant see why i couldnt run a few sets off. I will look at material costs etc today at work and get back to you with some prices.
  4. Hey guys. Well the old "datsun" badges from the front fenders of my zed were a bit old and crusty so i was at work a bit bored and thought i might machine up some new ones with my licence plate on them instead of datsun. What u guys think?? The car is going pretty well now too (crap photo i know. I took it on a phone)

I see boost at 2500-2800 and full boost by 3400ish but that said, it doesnt take long for them revs to get there because before you hit boost it is still a 3ltr engine so it has the torque to get up onto boost fairly quicky. The turbo is sticking through the bonnet with that manifold and the 6boost manifold will do the same. On a rb30det in a zed you will need a custom manifold because they sit that bit higher than the rb's. Im in the process of making a steam pipe manifold to bring the turbo forward and down. Thanks buddy. No its not the the stock radiator. it is the stock tanks on a 4 row core. Yeah its definatly nice to drive.

  7. If you love the old school cars go for it. Origonally when i put the rb20 in my 240 it took me 2 months of flatout work after work every day from start to finish. Its not the first time its been done so its not too difficult. Its not really a bolt in and drive away but its not a massive project. Handling, i have no idea about a 2+2 but i know a 2 seater if setup properly, will handle fairly well. On par with most of the modern cars. Not as well as my old GTR but it also had hks coilovers.
  8. Depends. If you love the zed shape and you have a lot of skills and knowlage about cars etc etc go for the zed but be warned an rb26 zed is not an easy task. its not a car for the faint of heart either. You will need to upgrade brakes, suspension, driveline etc etc An s15 is a lot easier option and at the end of it all, it is a better, more modern platform to start with. That said, i owned my RB30det 240z and also an r32 GTR at the same time. I needed to get rid of one to make room, and i sold the GTR. Purely because the zed stands out from the crowd, I love the s30 shape, The zed goes harder, and driving it around knowing that i built it from the ground up gives me a sense of satisfaction.
  9. Thanks Clint. Long time no speak. Yeah it is definatly looking better than before. Thats not hard though. As Krystal said, i dont think it will be ready fo muscle car masters. I didnt even know about it. I might still go but prob wont take the zed as i have a lack of funding for rego:cry:
  10. Thanks. Probaly not the whhels i would have picked for the car either but i had them in the garage doing nothing so on they went. They look better than the old 14's anyway. For the future im thinking either GT42 or To4z. Probaly go the whole hog and go the GT42. I'll just enjoy driving it for now but when the power level gets boring (as it always does) i will ugreade the turbo.
  11. Thanks. The short engine by its self i dont think would have cost much as i did it all myself. The head rebuilt etc with the valves ground etc prob cost $1000 and the block with forgies, bearings etc prob $1500-1600 at a guess. Im in aus so rb30 stuff is fairly cheap. The turbo is a GT35R with a 1.06 exh a/r on a pre-made manifold from the parts shop but i am working on a new steam pipe one at the moment to bring the turbo forward and down. It has only been tuned to 15psi so far and at that it made 550 rwhp and the turbo is out of puff.
  12. Hey guys. After a solid week of work my rb30det z is almost done!! The engine and drivelinehave been done for quite a while but it looked like crap. I have finally finished painting it and it is almost back together. Cant wait to get back out there and start terrorising the streets again. Cant wait to hear that wastegate vent to atmosphere again. lol. Anyways, thought id just share a couple of progress pics. getting there no i didnt do the engine bay because im lazy and its not the worlds greatest paint job, i just wanted it to look decent.

  14. Dont take my word for it but I have one on my R32 GTR that looks very similar and on it the pressure (out) side would be the one on the right on your pic. The center one is the return. Thats mine though (HKS) so it may be different.
  15. I am running 245-40-18's on my RB30det 240z. I originally ran standard yokahamas which had very little traction 1st-2nd-3rd and started to hook up in 4th gear. Now i have put nitto's on and it has made a huge difference.
  16. In Aus you are not allowed to use spacers but you are allowed to use bolt on adapters if you get them engineered. I have Z31 turbo front hubs on mine with adapters on the rear with 18' Ford falcon wheels. It is all engineered and legal.
  17. Depends. I have a standard r32 gtr that gets 14L/100kms or i have an RB30det 240z with a lot of goodies on it that gets nowhere near that.
  18. I see no problem with adapters whatsoever. Im putting 500whp+ through 30mm thick adapters with no probs at all. I only do it on the street and i check all the nuts every few weeks etc but i've never had a prob. I admit i would be a bit weary of using them on the track with slicks etc but i just have the proper offset rims for the track.

  20. No.Plenty of rb30s are revving past 8k.
  21. There are supposed to be some harmonics issues above 7000 rpm but i havnt had a problem.the crack is nitrided from the factory and the bore/stroke is exactly the same as a 2jz so i dont know what the problem is.i wouldnt take one above 7500 with a standard crank and rods though.

One thing i forgot tm mention to sooley.If you are going to run a GT35R,you will have to make a custom exhaust manifold so as to mount the turbo forward or backward of the strut tower.I had a "off the shelf" stainless one and the turbo is around 1.5 inches higher than the hood.I had a scoop on it but im in the process of making a custom steampipe manifold.It cant be lowered either because the turbo wont fit between the engine and the tower with enough clearance.This is mine with the old stainless manifold on it..

I see some boost by 2800 and full boost by 3800.Rev limit is 7500.It is fairly quick to get onto boost as im running 8.3 cr (standard rb30e pistons) so its still got the torque of a n/a 3 liter. It made 546rwhp on 15psi so i havnt felt the need to go any higher than that(the turbo is also out of flow) Im running a tial 40mm external gate. I was going 12,13,15,15 psi but now it goes 13,14,15,15 but with a slower boost curve.

Well if you already have all the gear for the sohc go for it.There are guys running 8 sec et's with sohc rb30's in commodores so why not.If you put a 25 head on you need to use a front facing plenum (greddy style) because the standard one doesnt clear the bonnet (hood for all the U.S. guys).I dont think the sohc has the same issue.It will still be a torque monster. With turbo selection,It is my opinion that a bigger exh a/r is better (xr6t turbo would be great).On the skyline forums they call the GT35R .82 a "hair trigger" turbo because the difference between no boost and full boost is a couple of hundred rpm.This causes a lot of wheelspin.I have a 1.06 on mine and i had it on the dyno for hours tuning the E-boost to bring on the boost curve slower to help a little bit with the traction,and it did help.Thats my opinion anyway.

Yeah.As 240z master said.As big as you can.I had 235 azensi's on it and i had mine de-tuned for daily driving down to a bit under 400rwhp and even at that power there are a lot of traction issues.Its all about the torque of the rb30.Mine is getting painted as we speak and while it is there they are lipping the arches as much as possible,so hopefully i'll be able to get some decent size m/t streets or nitto's etc. If you want to have a look at mine in a few weeks when it is done being painted,im just up in newcastle.
