YEAH BUDDY! I'm totally stoked. After seeing a few questionable trucks, i stumbled upon a very well maintained 1988 2500 series chevy truck, 4X4 with a camper shell, V8, AC, a HEATER! 5 speed manual transmission, and i have granny low! Plus, a nice, kick butt tow package, bedliner. It runs good, looks good, and has been meticulously maintained. $3000 even. It isnt super duper pretty, has one dent, and the brakes are just slightly less than perfect. I am pretty happy though, I am sure that this thing will tow me, my Z and all my crap straight to wyoming! I should leave on Wednesday or Thursday. So relieved, i felt like i was melting when i drove that truck. My stress level just dropped like 4 eschelons(sp?). I get to go pick it up for good tomorrow afternoon. Wyoming, here i come, Joe

maybe i should go out and spray some more blood on my car... maybe the vacuum leak with go away! Well, you survived once again! Joe

I wish you much luck. Be careful... you know, now may be a great time to vacation in california... if you can get out. I really dont like the idea of having a storm that is bad enough to destroy everything in it's path anywhere near me... I have been lucky though, ive lived in the bay area, a mile from part of the san andreas fault, and i have never felt an earthquake ( never even woke up..). Be careful, be the luckiest man alive for the next week. Joe

If you plan on buying an electronic marker, or an autococker, or automag, you should only run HPA. High pressure air is the same deal as Nitrogen as far as the marker is concerned, same tanks and everything. C02 can be used effectively on normal blowback style markers, and pump guns without much fear, though o-rings will wear faster, because they are subjected to large temperature variations, and impurities. It is important not to subject the solenoid that operates the bolt to c02 on electronic markers. The a5 marker is the latest and greatest evolution of the trusy 'ole m98. they can come equipped with a nice integrated ball feed system, and auto response trigger. There are also electronic conversion kits that will give you the trigger pull that is matched only by the top dollar high performance electro markers. that component is sorta pricey though. M98s are beasts though, long, heavy, sort of crudely designed though they are extremely rugged. the bushmaster is a quality marker. if you take some time figure out how it works, it will not fail on you. keep it clean, and that is it. they have delrin bolts i believe, and are self lubricating. (like most electros.) did i miss somthing? Joe

actually... when i played tournys i was a back player. because we had guys that were thinner and faster than i. I'm not very small, nearly 6 ft 220. I was only about 5'5" 180 back when i was playing. But in recball i had no problem beating most people to the front line... you should try finding a generally safe lane to run and seeing if you can get to where you are behind the opposition... that is some tense action... rushing buildings, running the tape and bunkering the whole way... crazy. Once you get to know a certain field, you get a good feel for where people expect you to be... and how not to be there. Man i have GOT to get a paintball gun again... i have a beat up impy that i may be able to get working... but i need a HPA tank... The bushmaster is the best buy for the money though. it is a very nice and competitive marker, it is short (front to back) and light. I used to run a 68ci flatline tank with a Kapp Drop zone 2, the tank stuck out about 1.5 inches behind the marker, and i ran a 10" and a 12" dye boomstick, along with a 12" Dye ss. all on a BL defiant with cocker threads.... I went to an angel shortly after selling that marker. A great stock class marker, which may be better suited to woods play is the Phantom. Awesome, i owned one and i absolutely loved it. yup, Joe
-
yeah, i meant 290... And i used to run the chronograph I love speedball, it is a rush. There is nothing better than sprinting to mid field on the siren and madly taking people down. I played hard... I really liked bunkering with my pump PGP... They didnt see that one coming. Be safe and have a good time, Joe

http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/paintball-gas-systems-remotes.html those are remotes. they allow you to run a large c02 (or, more rarely N02) tank that you carry in a pack. like this: http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/040-5410.html the tank is placed in the center slot. The color of the marker is pretty inconsequential. if you are close enough to distinguish color on such a small surface, then you have already seen the guy. Chrome stuff isnt really acceptable if you want to be stealthy... But I always preferred to have flamboyant markers, that were compact, 12" maximum barrel length (the ball accelerates only in the first 7 inches of the barrel anyhow. any more than 12 inches is just excessive, trust me.) I like wearing bright jerseys and sometimes i would put a jester hat on... that was always fun... I noticed that the more people you have aiming at you, the better off you are, the guys cant tell where thier shots are landing sometimes, and cannot correct thier shot. Alot of players have to "walk" their shots to be at all effective... It is called the Spray and Pray method. http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/paintball-gun-loaders-and-accessories-loaders.html Those are loaders. Do not buy anything that is not motorized, if you have a slow loader, you WILL chop paint, often. Paintball is a great hobby.... i wish i had the cash to go back into the game at the same level i was at as when i left. I should post some pics of the paintball guns that i have owned... it was quite a collection! Joe

well. I have a pretty pumped little motor in my Z.. It is all sorta old tech, but it is putting down some power. With the Automatic, wheel spin is very predictable, and very controllable. Though i prefer a manual... I have 2 to 1 exaust, and it is pretty quiet. Just be careful with the power, you can attain much higher speeds than you intend to, and then stopping can be a problem. Joe
-
Lol.... I bet that you couldnt resist saying that.... So, uh, when IS that Rotary going to be in your z? I'm just messing around... Joe
-
Heh... It is sorta funny when you cut yourself and dont notice... It really can shock some people when you have blood just dripping off of your body and you are going on like nothing happenend. I have more scars than some ex prison inmates... Joe

Yeah buddy.... My dad doesnt talk to me like that. He wouldnt dare. We have come to the understanding that if we disagree on something, we talk it out calmly.. or i leave. Last time we had a yelling match, he didnt see me for 4 days. I had to get the anger out of my system.... Aside from that, I'm bigger than he is!... lol But, all joking aside, my dad is awesome. I wish he would work on my car with me, but i know that he really hates doing that kind of stuff anymore... but he is starting to give me alot of help with going to Wyotech, even after i dropped out of HS and got my GED. am i pretty frickin stubborn when i know what i want to do... Denting the car is one step farther than i would want to allow.. but... it's your dad, what can you really do? Nothing that will have a positive effect... good luck dude, you will get that thing to texas, just convince yourself that there is no other possible course of action. If you want it bad enough, you can do it .. Joe

Watching blood SPRAY from your body like a high pressure hose is always interesting... I hope you are alright. Losing alot of blood isnt a whole lot of fun. Joe

Denny... you are a savage. that is HILARIOUS... too funny... Alex... you are a sick young man, buddy ... Joe

there is no such thing as a sniper barrel in paintball, except for one that is named the sniper, it has rifling, which really makes very little difference with liquid filled orbs. (they are NOT perfectly round.) I must URGE you to get a chronograph and the proper protective equipment. I good paintball goggle setup with good range of vision, strong lenses, and good face protection is worth more than you would like to admit.. PLEASE play safely. Do not shoot at anyone above 190 FPS. under any circumstances. It sucks. It is dangerous. I have been shot from extremely close range in tournaments and on the rec field, numerous times. These paintballs are no joke. When you have 8 bleeding welts on your back, you will hope that you havent done that to someone. but anyhow... Get the flatline, keep it clean and dry, put a nice Model 98 underneath it, with a good paintloader... and just take people out, uphill, downhill, and further away than anyone would expect. have fun man... Joe

I know exactly what you are talking about. The guns are call AT85, and various other designations begginning with AT. they were used for police training, but if not perfectly maintained, the complex paintball cartridge is prone to malfunction. There are a few mods for them, but they are pretty expensive.. If you want realism, take a look at these.. http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/010-1656.html I am not familiar with that particular series, I never really considered having a realistic look paint marker... it is more dangerous than it is worth in my opinion, because i had to drive to paintball fields... The Tippmann is a very rugged marker. They do fire very fast for their design. The flatline barrel should only have high grade paint shot through it. Diablo actually makes a pretty good, competitively priced paint that will work pretty good in the flatline barrel. There are also alot of factory upgrades offered by tippmann, they have a responsive kickback trigger kit, (reffered to at the RT) that kicks the trigger forward with every cycle, so if you can get the pressure right, you can get it to cycle very fast. Though at really high rates of fire you may notice alot of velocity droop. Especially with C02 and cold weather. You may want to consider a remote tank setup if you decide to co with C02. The remote setup helps keep liquid C02 from getting into the power valve. that combined with a nice stock and expansion chamber could be a problem free system. But, C02 is a dirty gas, and you will need more regular maintenance. The A5 tippmann has a reciprocating auto feed I believe. I havent seen it in action...Car came, paintball went.... But Tippmann is a sewing machine and pnuematic component manufacturer, they do precise work, even though some of the early tippmann gun reciever (body) was made out of cruddy pot metal. I hope they have changed that process. The barrels did not always line up perfect.... my fingers are numb... Joe

http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/010-3025-1.html there is the base model Bushmaster, Semi only. (you dont really need full auto with the trigger that it has.. i know) I had a defiant which is a bushy with autococker barrel threads, and i could set the trigger to where i could drum on the sid of the marker and make it fire... super short mouse click trigger. http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/010-9014-1.html there is a nice autococker. you would want to immediately upgrade the barrel to a dye boomstick. 10-12" . http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/010-1650-2.html here is a cool sidearm... There are only a couple of other markers that are under $500 that arent junk. (imho) I have owned nearly every single brand and type of paintball marker... I was really really heavy into the sport.. look around at paintball forums for really good deals... like this forum... http://www.paintballstar.com/pn/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=index&c=10&sid=24d73777a1000eeefe32efdfeb4d6622 and http://www.paintballcity.com which is down right now... but they usually have good deals. Joe

Co2 doesnt expand below 65*. and you can feed liquid C02 through the gun, which is bad for the seals, and will decrease your FPS alot. No2 is extremely stable. I started out with a tippmann, they run OK on C02 compared to most other markers. and the flatline is a nice barrel. though it is extremely long and not well suited to close range battle. (believe me, you will want to be able to tuck up close against bunkers... tippmanns dont allow this.) stay away from automags... they are paint blenders, aside from the E-mag... which is a great marker when combined with a warp feed but is very pricey. Joe.

In my opinion, the spyder markers are to be avoided... No offense. I have a LOT of experience with paintball guns, and i can completely dissassemble and reassemble nearly every single marker on the planet. A good reliable, inexpensive marker to get is offered by ICD. Look for B2K markers. They are the bushmaster series, controlled by an electronic solenoid. 12-14 BPS. you can set it to burst modes and full auto, but if you are going to use it on a field then you can only use semi auto. You can find them equipped with electronic eyes that sense whether or not the chamber has a ball in it, this feature ELIMINATES ball breakage in the chamber. you will need a high pressure air tank to run it though. I am partial to Autocockers, though they are not super simple to tune, they can be very reliable, fast, and stable. I like them. My favorite marker by far is the LCD angel. fast, smooth, reliable $800-$1000 used though. the bushmaster really is the least expensive quality electronic marker on the market. If you have any more questions you can e-mail or PM me. Joe

Update: I think that i met the SAME riced civic again tonight... and i handed it to him even harder this time! The Z LOVES 70* weather... i managed to get full throttle in 4th gear by manually shifting the tranny... wow... super duper scary crazy amazing fast. But, alas, i am nearly out of gas (heh, geegollydarn, i'm a poeet.) And i must quit wasting it upon the undeserving. plus speeding is dumb..... I need to get to a dragstrip... Joe

Any Hybridz guys out in Wyoming or northern Colorado?
JoeinCA replied to JoeinCA's topic in Non Tech Board
heh... We could build a Hybrid Z Mecca... have pilgrimages... a full religion! Z is power, Z is power, Z is power.... or not... During the summer months, Denver and Wyoming are absolutely stunning. Awesome nature everywhere. I'll still be around HybridZ when i go to wyoming, so if you do move, i will be easy to get a hold of. Joe -
Ah... i see. Dont worry mike.. Everything will work out fine... And if you dont want the wilwoods and the coil overs and all that trick stuff you got... send it my way I'd trade my V8Z for the car you are building.... eh... maybe not, i have put too much work into my car... Have fun man, shiny stuff rocks! Joe
-
uh... i hate to be .... well... ignorant. but how do you put a rotor on wrong? Dude, just calm down, take a break, do something completely unrelated to the car for a while. come back to it later, cool, calm, and collected. Everything will go very smooth. Anger doesnt belong in a garage... (in my driveway is another story ) As soon as you feel yourself getting angry... just shut down, take a breath, bite the urge to destroy. Dont piss your father off. If you have to take your frustration out on something then go find yourself a 4X4 plank and an axe. Working on the car is not a chore. it's a luxury. Joe
