  1. I'd love to see some pics of the coversion!
  2. My brother-in-law bought an Audi S4 (bi-turbo) last year. He says he's had no problems with it. And I know he drives it hard. The thing has some serious 'getupandgo' and corners like it's on rails. Very nice car. I suspect the A4 1.8T is pretty close to the same.
  3. I bought a Miller 130, Argon/CO2 mix tank, a couple of welding books, a bunch of scrap metal of various gauges and just started practicing. Weld something up, then cut across the weld to see how well you are penetrating. Practice, practice, practice. It's really not as tough to learn as you might think. A welding class is a good idea if you have the time and access to a local community college. I just tought myself. Good luck.
  4. I haven't been able to touch my Z for a full month (possibly longer) and it's causing me some serious frustration. Having a job that requires that I show up on a regular basis and being married with kids are the biggest reasons I don't get to touch the car. Not a day goes by that I don't day-dream about working on the Z and visit this forum. But, there is an endless list of honey-do's (gotta keep the family peace), kid related stuff and traveling for work. I just do what I can, when I can and hope that my car turns out Pete's on a timeline unlike Pete's (no offence, Pete )
  5. Are the 240 and 280 stubs interchangeable? I have a damaged stub on my 240 and was looking for a 240 replacement. If I can use 280 stubs, I'll go that route and be ready for the CV upgrade later.

Yup. I keep hearing things like: Shooting an empty gun. Hunting in an empty forest. A few walls short of a complete house. A few crumbs short of the cake. His porch light is flickering. No grain in the silo. Receiver is off the hook. Slinky's kinked. Too much yardage between the goal posts. Not the sharpest pencil in the box. About a half a bubble off level. Not the brightest crayon in the box. A few gunmen short of a posse. Missing some of dots on his dice? Only got One Oar In The Water. Not the quickest bunny in the forest. The porch lights on, but nobody's home. Too much chlorine in the gene pool. Not the brightest bulb on the tree. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. The cheese has slipped off the cracker. Not the brightest star in the galaxy. Not the sharpest tack in the box. I.Q. of two, but takes three to grunt. Thinks the Hard Rock Cafe is a restaurant for boulders. Tried to read a book "between the lines." A few chocolate chips short of a cookie. A few tantrums short of a toddler. A couple gallons short of a swimming pool. IQ lower than your average rock. A couple apples short of a bushel. Several aliens short of a UFO. A few CDs short of a jukebox. Elevator doesn't go all the way to the top. One brick shy of a fireplace. One bubble short of a bath. Wheels are spinning but the tires are off the ground. One eye closed and can't see out of the other. One tree short of a hammock. He thinks the Mexican border pays rent. If he blew up a balloon his head would deflate. Two slices of bread shy of a sandwich. A few clowns short of a circus. A few fries short of a happy meal. An experiment in Artificial Stupidity. Dumber than a box of hair. A few peas short of a casserole. The wheel's spinning, but the hamster's dead! One fruit loop shy of a full bowl. A few feathers short of a whole duck. Body by Fisher, brains by Mattel. Warning: Objects in mirror are dumber than they appear. Couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel. He fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down. An intellect rivaled only by garden tools. As smart as bait. Sharp as a marble. Doesn't have all his dogs on one leash. Elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor. Forgot to pay his brain bill. Her sewing machine's out of thread. His antenna doesn't pick up all the channels. His belt doesn't go through all the loops. If he had another brain, it would be lonely. Missing a few buttons on his remote control. As soon as I figure out who they're talking about, I'll let you guys know.
  7. I've spoken to Weir on several occasions. I like what I hear. The last quote I got was $560 + shipping. (Kinda spendy) but, by the time you factor in the cost of the late model clutch assy. and the special Centerforce flywheel, this isn't too far off. And replacing the clutch components later are more affordable. Their bell allows the use of any standard flywheel/clutch combo. Here is an article from Chevy HiPerformance on the product: http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/index.jsp?articleid=48446 It's the route I intend to follow. (in fact, the wife just approved the purchase...

Huh? Pay attention to what? What are you guys talkin' about?!
  9. Cool! Can't wait to see the pics. I still haven't figured out what I'm gonna do for tail lights on mine...
  10. Teo - Welcome. The VR will be an adventure for all of us! TeeZee - I just got back from a trip to Mississippi and Tennessee last night. I'm tentatively planning on driving your direction on Sunday. I just hafta clear it with the boss. If she doesn't have a list of honey do's, I'm heading your way. I'm guessing it's about a 2 hr. drive from PDX to Fall Creek. Does that sound about right?
  11. Suhweeeeet!!!!!!!!! Is that 180 degree headers I see stuffed in there?
  12. Yup. It's sitting on my garage floor. We need to plan a little get together to compare notes on our projects. I'll email you in the am.

    Russian girls

I spent a summer traveling in Russia, the Ukraine and Crimea (Black Sea coast). Hands down, no contest the highest concentration of the most beautiful young women I have ever seen. However, the stereotype of the big Russian babushka was true. Because of the russian diet and liberal amounts of vodka, the typical woman over 30 yrs was getting large and not so pretty any more. At the time (1989) the area was still under Soviet control but, once the locals found out we were Americans, we were treated like kings. Everyone wanted to talk to us and be our new best friends. It was a VERY good summer.
  14. Tomahawk - Your not alone. I lost my license for a year a few years back due to speeding tickets. 5 in one year. The kicker was that I had a Whistler One detector. I got so used to the ^$! thing going off for every store security system that I passed, I learned to ignore it. Now I have no radar detector, pay much more attention to the hiding spots along the road and I get maybe one ticket every 2-3 years. Slowing down was/is not an option.
  15. What an unbelievable weasle!! Pete: I guess you could consider that some kind of twisted form of flattery but, man for that guy to claim your masterpiece as his own... What a jerk. It'd be fun to embarass him... BTW - Davy, what are you doing with a picture of my Porche in your post?
  16. Pretty cool when a plan comes together. I've got my stripped 240 on a rotisserie I built using two engine stands. I had the two stands laying around already. All I had to do was remove the casters, mount them to some blocks of 4x6 post to give them the required height and and get the pivot points to level and fabricate the body mounts. I got lucky on guessing where the center of gravity was going to be. It's only slightly bottom heavy and I can rotate the car with one hand. It's been a GREAT help this week while installin the subframe connectors. I'm guilty of spinnin' the car just because I can.
  17. Put me down for "e) Velo Rossa (VR Engineering)" My VR kit is scheduled to show up at my door late next week. Like VRJoe, I've got my 355, T56 waiting to go in. I've got coilovers, 5-lug conversion, Outlaw brakes all sitting on the garage floor. I'm hoping to get most of the way down the road on getting the sub-frame connectors in this week while the car is on the rotisserie. The fun never ends...
  18. Carbon fiber stock replacement by a Hybrid member Here and a replica of a Ferrari dash at Stable Autoworks Good luck
  19. I'd LOVE to weld our cat closed at both ends. It's my wife I'd have to worry about after that...
  20. ZCC Welcome! I would love to see pics of your subframe connectors. I just got my Z up on a rotisserie and am in the process of getting materials together to emulate Pete Paraska's connector design. I'm also putting in a T56 so, your design sounds very intriguing.
  21. Personally, I don't know a thing about spray guns. However, RacerX and Terry O (blueovals) will chime in. In the mean time I've seen a few guys post this forum as a reference: Autobody Store I've checked out some of the posts and learned quite a bit. The guy that owns the store/site seems to be very helpful in answering questions like this
  22. Just out of curiosity, why do you need to strip the POR-15? I was considering using it on my engine bay. I don't want to cause myself any problems...
  23. Personally, I like the Supra Lights a bit better than the 300ZX lights. Both are good lookin' on the Z. However, I'm building a Velo Rossa so, neither of those looks will work for me. I need more of a classic look. I'm not crazy about the Mazda RX3 lights and various other basic round lights I've seen. Gotta find something cool, yet classic to match those classic body lines. I toyed with the idea of a modern interpretation of the 250GTO and thats were I got the idea for the Supra lights. I've since changed my mind on a modern update.
  24. Mainly street use. But, I plan on knocking over some cones at the occasional auto-X.
