  1. Check out Jeromio's site. He did a pretty good write-up on sectioning struts for coil-overs. Click Here. There are a couple of good pics on Tim's site: Click Here. Although, I don't think Tim sectioned his struts. There is also a few pics on Mike Gibson's (scca) site: Click Here. Mike's way of installing is a bit different from Ross's
  2. I checked out this car in person at last years Portland Auto Swap Meet. VERY nicely done. I agree, I wouldn't classify it as a sleeper, I has a decidedly V8 lope and rumble even at idle, but it is definitely a Honduh I could have a whole lotta fun with!
  3. Very nice! and Very clean! Great job on the engine bay. What side view mirrors are you using?
  4. I've seen Tim reference McMaster-Carr before and this is the first time I have followed the link to take a look. Holy smokes! What a great resource! This is bookmarked forever more...

    plug foam

Douglas - I'd like to see them. You can upload them into the HybridZ gallery: Click on the Album link at the top of this page, click on HybridZ Picture Gallery. Once you're in the gallery, there is a button at the top left of the page labled 'upload pic.' Once, you are on the upload pic page, it is pretty self explanitory. -Marc
  6. Drax and Jim are right. The plugs are not going to solve the problem. I was experiencing the same thing on my 280. The water was coming in via the rain pan and base of the windshield gasket. Buy the plugs to seal the holes, but find the source where it's coming in.
  7. Gotta have a Sawzall and at least a 4" grinder/cut-off tool. Both are indespendable for "Hybridizing" I also bought a 10" cut-off disk for my compound mitre saw. Works great for cutting square tube and angle stock. I know a guy that uses 10" cut-off disks in his circular saw to cut steel stock. I'm with Tim. My next purchase is a nibbler for sheet steel. God, I love tools!
  8. I gotta get me one of those aluminum foil hats.....
  9. And if that doesn't convince you, I'll send a guy named Guido to have a little 'chat' with your cat and your cat's family. Dooooood, you gotta do that swap. Too cool!

    Rotisserie

Lots of people build 'em. Find a plan, hit the scrap metal yard and weld it up. I used a couple of engine stands and some custom parts. Here are some links to plans: Rotisserie 1 Rotisserie 2 Rotisserie 3 A couple shots of my cheesy setup

    JTR??

Jags That Run The most basic comparison is this: The Scarab 'kits' place the engine higher and further forward in the engine compartment. Having driven one, I felt pretty uncomfortable with how it affected the handling characteristics. The car was definitely 'nose heavy' and didn't corner as well as a stock L6. The JTR kit places the engine further back and lower within the engine compartment and gives the car better balance. With aluminum heads, waterpump, etc. and moving the battery back to the rear of the car you can achieve almost 50/50 front to rear weight distribution and get the car within 125 lbs of stock weight. If you are considering the swap, buy the JTR book.
  12. No doubt. I certainly have too. I look back and think that I am lucky to be alive. I have, at times, deserved to be 'culled from the pack.' I was responding more to 280Zen's quote. I am just tired of warning lables and legislation designed to save us from ourselves. It's ridiculous. There is a reason for natural selection. And that includes the human race as well as all the little critters...
  13. I know it sounds harsh, but I am a believer in the process of 'natural selection.' I'm not making light of someone's demise, but I agree with the quote 280Zen posted.
  14. I use this feature almost exclusively. However, it has always worked kind of strangely for me. It almost always lists more unread posts than are actually listed when I click the link. Like just now it listed 65 new posts, but when I click the link there are only 39 posts on the page and no second page listed. EDIT: Duh, multiple posts on a single thread might explain that wouldn't it? Think, then post...
  15. I believe Bob is correct. It's probably not street legal in any car. Although, with mods the referees might be persuaded to pass it. I don't really know. As the other guys posted, you have a better chance of not getting caught if it's installed in a pre-'74 vehicle. It's not that it's legal in pre '74s, it's that anything manufactured before then is not required to go through emissions testing. If you were pulled over in an RB powered '71 240Z and the officer was able to see under the hood and was astute enough to recognize what was in there, you could still be in trouble. I had a 280Z that I sold in favor of a 240Z for just that reason. I may still get in trouble but, the chances are less with a 240...
  16. Volvo P1800 Opel Manta (GTs were cool but, I like the Manta's better) Fiat 124 Coupe Alpha GTV Renault R5 Saab Sonnet BMW Isetta - Don't ask me why. I don't know why I like 'em either...
  17. I knew Dave had that picture. I was going to reply earlier but, didn't have the link to "Dave's Store of Knowledge" on my office PC.
  18. HAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! That was hilarious!
  19. I bought the Weir bellhousing and should have had it fully installed by now, but life keeps interrupting my project. I am hoping to have it installed in the next few months. Sorry, not much help now. Have you read the article from Chevy Highperformance Mag?
  20. Love Mozilla. I've been using it on my Linux based laptop for months. I'm using NS7 on my Win2k based laptop. Love that tabbed interface. I may have to install Mozilla on my Win box to see how it looks.
  21. Don't forget Ross Corrigan at Modern Motorsports and/or Mike Gibson at fonebooth.com Both of those guys can hook you up with everything you need. I bought my coilover setup from Dave Turner Motorsports in Cali. They suggested 200# springs front and rear with Tokico Illuminas for a good combination for street and track. I bought my Outlaw brake upgrades/5 lug conversion from Mike Gibson and I am planning on a purchase from Ross soon.
  22. Sounds like you have Pete's plans. With the sub frame connectors (ffr's) and a 6 pt cage intalled, it should handle 400hp fine. I would ad front and rear strut bars for a little more stiffness. Triangulate the fronts if at all possible. I doubt most performance shops will have the steel materials you need. I bought mine from an industrial steel supply place. They had everything I needed in scrap bins. Cheap too. You can rent a cut-off saw at most tool rental places or you can get 10" cut-off discs that will fit your basic chop saw (or even Skil saw) and cut the steel to length yourself. It's not too tough. Are you doing your own welding or are you farming it out?
  23. Yup. That is the front of a 250 GTO kit. It isn’t mine, though. I ‘borrowed’ an image of a completed car and cropped it down. I am building a GTO inspired kit on my 240Z. I’ve got a complete Velo Rossa kit from Reaction Research sitting in storage and ready to go. My car is still sitting on a rotisserie and waiting for it’s new V8 and 6 spd. Follow the link in my signature and you can see some pics of my project.
  24. Cody - I bought mine during a group buy here on this board. Got it from Mike Gibson at fonebooth.com. I paid $300 plus shipping. It is still untouched in the box and ready to be installed. I have since decided to holdout for a Quaife ($1200+). Guys on this board have mixed feelings on the performance of the Phantom Grip. I have read some positive testamonials and some luke-warm ones. I'll sell you mine for $275 + shipping (under $10 more than likely).
