  1. i understand you might have some pros and cons about the NPR intercooler's. i have two of them (the big one and the small one) and was planning one using one on my car. i will be running 25-30 psi through it. my spearco is just too small. so, am i wasting my time with these I/C"s or not? thanks
  2. contact TURBO ENGINEERING CORP( TEC) 303-271-3997 talk to jason, he will get you what you need. i have bought 4 hybrids from them. the best builder there is. stay away from the fly by night places(majestic-turbochargers.com etc.) they dont even have a VSR balance to balance the shaft. alot of them just buy the turbos from TEC or turbonetics and then mark them up.
  3. i have the JEGS 6 point in my car. only cutting was trimming pieces to length. i guess if anyone needs i can take a few pics. you guys must have a good source for cages if you have not jumped on the cage from jegs. around here the cheapest i could find anyone to do a 6 point was 1,500!!! and a wait of 4-7 months. i thought the kit was very good, no instructions but it is really self explanatory. i just had my NHRA rule book to make sure we followed their BS.

    SDS DISCOUNT

i remember a while back some of you did a buy-in with sds for a 20% disc. i think it may have been SCCA or someone that headed it. do i need to contact scca for this disc. according to SDS's web site the ten unit buy-in is a one time thing. after that the discount is always good. can any one tell me if i need to go through some one for this discount, or can i just tell SDS that i am a member of HYBRIDZ? or am i on crack? thanks
  6. thanks alot, i am printing that MSD info now.
  7. the injectors i can get from jegs. i found a place for the fuel rail, i am pretty sure i will need new injector bungs welded to the manilfold. ghole not big enough to fit o-ring injector.
  8. looking for some info on a source for an aftermarket intake manifold for the L28ET. or a place that would modify mine to accept the newer style o-ring injectors(instead of the barb/pintle junk) this would save me around $600 on injectors. i found the fuel rail at arizonazcar, but they are not going to make anymore manifolds. i can get my 720cc injectors for around $78 an injector in the newer style. the barb/pintle style will run me about $180 an injector. thank you for your time.
  9. i have had 6 L28ET motors and every one of them has had compresion in the 100-110 range.
  10. quote CLUTCH MASTERS STAGE 4 it is a 4 puck ceramic sprung hub. grabs pretty hard unless used to build boost off the line then it slips a little in third and fourth. [ September 27, 2001: Message edited by: SHANE ]
  11. quote the taller gears put more strain on the clutch.
  12. quote no, for an L28ET. V8's dont need the same holding power as a turbo. hell i have friends that run a centerforce dual friction in a 5.0. a car that runs low 12's, drag suspension and actually pulls the front end off the ground. yet put that same clutch in my turbo I6 and slip city!!! be carful think ahead, dont buy the clutch for the power you have now. buy for the power you expect to have in time. i am not saying mcleod is no good. just stating the price i was quoted over the phone. 300-400HP is not the problem. it is the outrages torque that a turbo generates. for example, DSM's like to run ACT full disc, 400+ hp, AWD but still a 4cyl. these cars will run in the 10's and get 1.7 60ft's on this clutch. i call ACT with my car tell them it is a 2.8 straight 6, roughly 350HP and 25PSI. they tell me the full face disc will not hold up to my car. too much torque. oops sorry for the long post [ September 25, 2001: Message edited by: SHANE ]
  13. you wont like Mcleod, when i called they quoted me around $700 for a clutch. in a not so polite way i told him he was stupid. get a puck style, sprung hub if you want, but unsprung if you NEVER want to slip again. look into ACT or CLUTCH MASTERS. even try RPS. i called all of them when looking for my last clutch. EXEDY is another one that wants around $600.
  14. yeah. i know a few DSM guys that love the DF. i also know alot of mustang guys that use them with great results. but i dont think it is a good clutch for big turbo's and I6 torque. 25psi and 26" tires is too much for it. with the centerforce i would hit third and it would slip, fourth and it would slip. now when i hit third and fourth the ass end wants to come around still think i need an ACT with an unsprung hub.
  15. right now i use an MSD pump from JWT. i think it was around $140. good for 550HP.
  16. fuel injectors are listed with the HP that they can support, ie 420cc on a 6cyl good for 400 HP. is this HP rating flywheel or RWHP??? i have the 420cc now and need to upgrade. i was looking at 550cc injectors which are good for 500 HP, but if this is flywheel HP then thats not enough. the thing that gets me is the price jump!! 550cc $86 600-720cc $170!!!!!!!! wow that is a big gap. anyways thanks guys.
  17. quote dont bet on it!!!! unless you dont make much power the d/f clutch is a total piece of trash. i went through two in two years and the stupid things NEVER did grab in third or fourth!! just be carefull before you plop down a ton of $$$$ on a centerforce check around, there are a few BETTER clutches for less - same money. my clutch masters stage 4 (4 puck ceramic) was only $350. ACT 6 puck $360. i paid 400 for my centerforces. i like the CM stage 4 but wish i had gone with ACT. FWIW [ September 22, 2001: Message edited by: SHANE ]

  19. quote first off who said 500hp???????? never been on the dyno. you want to see it fine drop by and look. sleeperz has seen it. nothing much to look at. 130,000 miles and counting. no big feat really, these motors are bulletproof and will stand up to anything as long as there is enough fuel, and pre ignition is kept in check.
  20. quote JWT ecu upgrade 420cc injectors 9x12 spearco intercooler msd 6al(yuck junk hate it) TO4E/T3 turbo (25psi) motor is bone stock msd fuel pump
  21. thanks guys. i'll do some checking around.
  22. uhh dont have any pics. here is a link to a poor quality video of me racing ARI YALLON at an IDRC race. my time in my sig is on slicks, this run is on street tires. dont have any video of my car on slicks http://206.124.12.142/hai/shane_vs_rx7.mpg this run was a low 12, god i hate street tires [ September 20, 2001: Message edited by: SHANE ]

    drag radials

ok, i see some of you are getting awesome 60ft times with drag radials(scottie for one). but i have noticed that most if not all are running an automatic. now i understand that an automatic does not produce the driveline shock like dumping a clutch at 7000rpm, but what else factors into this. i run 275/50/15 bfg drag radials and i absolutely HATE them! i have tried every presure from 22psi down to 11psi. long to short burnouts. every time it is the same, sideways out of the hole and sideways again in second. 2.2 60ft! at least with my ET STREETS i could get 1.7's. but the new rules for the street 8 class dont allow bias ply tires. anyone have any advice? i am thinking that ALL radial tires are worthless!(cars should come from the factory with slicks and skinnies ) thanks
  24. hello, new to the board thought i would try for some feedback. adjustable cam gear from arizona z car. any pros? cons? thanks
