  1. Hey folks, looking to buy a decent used or new wiper motor for my Z car. Poor thing was on it's last legs for a while, and finally died. If you have one laying around or could pull one from a donor car, that would be fantastic. Ebay lists some nice, new replacements for ~$140, so I'm looking for much cheaper than that. Please email at jmurphz33@gmail.com for a quicker response. Thanks!
  2. Hey Z guys; alright, I've had my 280 for a while now, running a stock, FI setup. I'm getting horrible mileage (compared to what it should get), and I analyzed the exhaust gases, with a CO percentage of about 7.2%, and an estimated AFR of 12.8-13.1 at idle. Not good. I've ruled out the ECU, ignition, pressure regulator, both coolant sensors, and switches. I'm down to the AFM. I just purchased a very clean, working one off of ebay. I believe it's a 7 pin, but I'm not totally sure. The clip on the harness is missing two connectors, but I'm not sure if I have a f*d up harness (previous owner was STUPID), or the wrong AFM. Any help would be great! Thanks guys. -John
  3. Oh yeah--- nice pics! They do make it look great! I love the fender mirrors as well. But I hate to say it, I've already seen the pics... ...I'm guilty of looking up your car on cardomain many times. Haha it looks/sounds amazing!
  4. WOW. I would kill to have an original 432-R. Hey, I can dream right?
  5. I was trying to decide whether or not to go chrome--- and I decided against it. Chrome bumpers are pretty tough to find for a decent price, everywhere I've looked. Weight is the enemy, and so is cost. So I'm going with the FG. If $$$ wasn't a problem, I'd probably go CF or just chrome...
  6. Sweet--- I'm diggin the twice pipes, doesn't sound too shabby. When I was thinking of going N/A, that's the setup I was probably gonna roll with.. before I decided to go turbo. Good luck with the supercharging and all that, though!
  7. Nice writeup Drax--- haven't even gotten started with the major modifications on my 280, but a buddy of mine works at a very well established dyno-tuning shop... looks like I'll be heading there after I'm running turbo. I mean, I knew tuning was important--- but some of those hp increase #'s blow my mind! Thanks for the insight.
  8. Wow.. very thorough, and extremely helpful. Nice detail, this helps a lot. I'll be looking to Modern Motorsports for some adaptors.
  9. Oh no------ I feel your pain. The roof of my 280 looks sort of like a giant golf ball... it's not pretty at the moment. But filling and using the long sanding block sounds like a good plan--- or that flexible sander that racerx posted. Looks like I've got some work to do. Thanks for being so thorough and willing to help, fellow z guys. I'm impressed with most threads I read on this site because it seems like everyone is really into helping eachother out. I dig! -John
  10. Nice job man! Looks like a pretty intense "de-rust" process-- but well done. I'm going to have to do some of that to my car too, not looking forward to it. But this inspiring me, maybe it won't be so bad. BTW, great detail and pictures. -John
  11. cozy z cole-- thanks for the link! I read that thread before, but I was just looking for a diagram. But the thought counts And mopar69, nice little diagram, and helpful. Going to order the bumper on monday and fab up a couple brackets. Thanks a lot! Oh, and I see you're from spokane-- how's the weather been over there? Suprising, it's raining up here in B'ham...
  12. Hey fellow Z guys-- I know many of you have put the smaller & MUCH better looking 240Z bumpers on your 260s/280s... and I know that a little bit of custom bracketry is required for a good fit. But is there anyone who has made the brackets, and is willing to supply me a little sketch with dimensions? (As I'm just buying the bumpers from MSA or another, I don't have the original 240z brackets). I can work with metal, but it'd take a lot of guesswork out of the picture if someone could throw some numbers at me--so I could get started fabricating. Thanks!
  13. Austin, nice post (pictures and writeup)--- very helpful. Can't wait until I have the time to do this to the 280!
  14. Alright nice. Thanks for the help guys! I'm not totally sure if I'll never crank the boost up past 15, but I'll be tempted to. I might as well go forgings, I want this motor to be strong. Thanks again!
  15. First of all, I'm a new user---but I've been browsing the forums here for quite a while, and I like what I see. Seems like most of the guys here know what they're talking about, and it's encouraging, especially since I'll probably have a lot of tech questions down the road. Anyways, onto my issue. I bought my 1978 280Z last fall, and have until now been making it as close to out-of-factory driving condition---- now I'm ready to take the plunge and go for the L28ET swap. I already have my F54 block, cleaned and ready to be honed, P90A head w/ some porting and a 3-angle valve grind job, crank polished, and rods ready to go. I'm having MAJOR trouble finding a good set of pistons, however. I'm looking for forged, none of this cast garbage---don't want them to shatter if detonation occurs (high boost setting will probably be about 15? ). So, any help, or a link to a known good distributor would be AWESOME. Thanks for the help. ...oh, and also--- anybody know if the bottom end in an 83 ZXT comes from factory with forgings?
