  1. Bumping an old thread , So i orderd a set of wheels 15x9 0 offset all around has anybody had any experience with this setup and how much tire can I fit under there with the one inch drop

Not enough to constitute the 9" wheel.  Keep the fronts as spares for the rear and get a pair of 7"s or 8"s as you can't get a tire for a 15x9 that is not 27 inches tall.  BFG has a new 225/45/15 that would be perfect for the front with a 7 or an 8, but they are not recommended for a 9.

  2. I think it is a good, comprehensive list.  It is kind of like learning English in billiards, until you do it a few hundred times you really have to think about which way it will go when hit it over here or over there.  After the practice it comes pretty naturally.  If you really want to show the miatas something get to a track with some elevation change, that will level the playing field.

  3. I wish 20 gallons of fuel weighed 80lbs.  Try more like 130 for the full 21+ gallon tank @ 6.15lbs per gallon.  The only time I have ever lost it in a zx was with almost no fuel in the tank (there were other factors, poor driving not the least of which) and I'm sure the lacking 100lbs contributed to the tail happiness.  And yes I would love for some one to weight a stock exhaust.  I'm single 3" right now, but there is a dual 3" aluminum side exit in my near future.

  4. Just so you know the reason sub 250lb springs are recommended with those shocks has absolutely nothing to do with what you've seen, how they look, ride quality, or harshness.  If you are after performance you should follow the instruction of those who came before you.  The rigidity of the chassis and the shocks them selves are what determines how much spring you can run for the best performance.  I would suggest you do more research than just trying to find the ones that are $100 cheaper.  That's what I would do.

  5. The cam is in a box in my garage.  The stainless steel valves are in a box in my attic. I have a running rebuilt l28et in the car, and a n42 sitting on a shelf.  I will most likely put the cam in the stock engine and save the valves and n42 for later on when I get one of those PITA large exhaust AR's like your talking about.

  6. I have never understood why people lower cars beyond the limitations of their suspension.  I completely agree with the argument to lower the CG, but I will take a CG 1 inch higher for a car that has travel and traction.  Don't frown too badly on a heim jointed semi trailing arm suspension.  If you think it can't be fast don't look at 510's or serious prepped 280zx's (if you can find one) or e30's for that matter.  If you don't lower your car beyond what its geometry allows you will never need this mod, and then you can concentrate on that engine build you've been compiling parts for.  That's what I would do.  But PPK's car is slow, ahem, I mean low and he makes it go sideways so everybody should go do what he does.

  7. What are we trying to accomplish here?  S13 bolt in coil over?  Cheap bolt in LSD?  It'll be the only one in my neighborhood?  S13 coil overs essentially bolt into the rear of s130 already.  LSD assemblies can be had for $500-$600 (lsd only) and it bolts in to your r200.  I'm pretty sure if you have coil overs and lsd in your 280zx there isn't another like it in your neighborhood.  If there is I will move there.

stretched on a 225/60/15 Falken ZE-512 all around.  55 would have been perfect but modern makes doesnt make weirdo sizes anymore.

Technically 245/45 would have been perfect, but nobody makes good tires in small sizes anymore.

  9. Just bought a 82' 280 ZX slick top and am looking for LT & RT FRT Rails, floor pans, RT rear bucket where spare tire goes (Inner RT QTR Panel), LT & RT Fenders, and LT & RT Quarter Panels.

Yes, I have a POS, but I love it!  Bought it as a pure turd but having owned one before I know their notorious for rust.

What I don't have of the above I have a line on.  Let me know, dude, I'm local.

  10. I wonder if it would just be easier to get a T3 flange just welded into your stock exhaust.

The easiest thing would be to dig up a bunch of 9 year old threads asking questions that have already been answered because you're too lazy to search.  The recirculating ball system that you have is probably heavily worn any way.  Why don't you do what everyone else does and swap to the rack and pinion set up.  It is a lot of work, but it is not that difficult.  I have heard that notching the box is an alternative, but I would go rack and pinion (power or manual).

  11. Dash Cap:  5.8lbs

This is the stock cap, as detached from the frame.  This is the part that always cracks.

    Dash Frame:  9lbs

Metal frame, NOT the knee bar.

    Glove Box: 2.5lbs

    Vinyl's:  7-7.1lbs

Both left and right side.  The ones with the seatbelt eye.

    Rear storage frame:  5.4lbs

The metal piece that bolts in behind the seats, creating the storage bins. It has had the speaker holes enlarged slightly by the PO to allow for bigger speakers (woohoo).

    Strut tower plastics:  5.7lbs

Left and right side weighed together again.

    Center console:  4.7lbs

No shifter boots or bezels, just the console with lid.

    Elec. Antenna Gizmo:  1.5lbs

This is an aftermarket piece, and was popular in the day.  I'm pretty sure the PO removed some sheet metal upon installation  as there was some crap generic bracket riveted on.

None of these items have hardware included as I have kept it all together and when the interior goes back in the unused hardware will be weighed together as I feel this is a more accurate way to measure it.  At the moment I am not sure what exactly is going back in.  The only thing I know will make the list is the center consol.  Its (relatively) light, very low, and in the middle.  The dash will be modified, everything else is on the chopping block.

Crawling around inside the car behind the seats is the only time I have ever wished I had a 2+2, but this one is lighter so whatever.  The last time I gutted one of these my back and knees didn't hurt so bad.  Z cars make you feel old.

  12. The wheels are garage jewelry until I get the chassis done. The injectors are off getting cleaned and flowed. And the damper will go on when I swap the new cam in. Hopefully all done by end of summer. Just trying not to set her on fire for the time being. Your ride has come along nicely btw. Let me know if you decide to do the pinstripe as I have black vinyl and the last ever "stripe cutter". Sorry for the off topic guys...
