  1. Not sure if anyone has seen this posting at www.classiczcars.com. A cheaper alternative to sending out your dash for professional repair. From the pics it looks just as good or like a professional restoration. http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23919&highlight=dash+repair I'm going to try it out on a dash I have sitting in my garage that needs repair.
  2. I'm curious how much they quoted you. Did you bring the wheels in with you so they could give a accurate quote? When I had the wheels done for my cars they quoted me $125 or $150 a wheel. That included repainting and polishing the lip. I only had pebble sized nicks here and there on the rims. For major repairs I wouldn't hesitate going to them but, if you can find someone that will repair curb rash for cheap, fair price in the bay area let me know. Always good to have a few options.
  3. If you want to get it done proffesionally check out this shop in Santa Clara http://www.wheeltechniques.com/. Since you are in San Jose they are close by and they do good work. I've had a couple sets of wheels done there for cars and my motorcycle.
  4. Thanks for the offer but, I need to check out the fit on the correct back spacing.
  5. Hanson, Are you in the Oakley by Brentwood (Contra Costa County)? If so would you mind letting me test fit one of the front wheels on mine when I get it back? I'm in Brentwood. Here is a pic of how it looks right now. Actually this is with out the motor in. I don't have a current pic with the motor in. I'll see if I can get some posted.
  6. So my 74 Fairlady is almost ready to hit the road again. One last thing I want to do with it is add the RS 8 spoke Watanabes. I was wondering if anyone has done the 16X8 or 16X8.5 up front with std lower springs vs. the coilover setup. If someone has one that they would be willing to lend me to test fitment I would appreciate it. The ol lady is sitting at Z Car Garage in San Jose, Ca. right now. If you would like to help me out with this please PM me. Again all I need is one to test out or something that has the same dimensions as 240hoke's wheels
  7. If you need a LT1 with matching 460LE automatic tranny. PM me. It came out of a 96 vette with 40,000 or 50,000 miles. I can't remember. Awesome find! Project cars are always better if you can pick them up at that kind of price. + Oh I forgot the motor is at my parents place in the Seattle area. It would be close to you if you want to pick it up. I was going to use it in a Fj40 landcruiser project.
  8. Has anyone that has tried this method mixed in regular auto paint for custom color? Wondering if it will affect the durability of the rustoleum or how it sticks to surfaces.
  9. Ya its a true rhd. No fun in owning a conversion. Oh I forgot the other goodies its getting. 240sx tranmssion upgrade, Nismo r180 lsd and all so hard to find ZG headlight covers...BRAND NEW in the box. OH Yeah! Gotta luv it. That's it for now. When I get some more money the interior gets a refresh and the dash will get sent to get redone. I will try to get some more interior pics up.
  10. Thanks. Wish I could say I did the work. I'm just the dumbass forking out his money for his Z obsession hahahaha
  11. The current rims are JDM SSRs. I can't remember the model #. Those will be up for sale as well as soon as I get my watanabes .
  12. last batch. Interior and wheels I thought I was going to put on. Konig Rewinds....Not fitting for this car. Going to sell those if anyone is interested. Watanabes are the only wheels that this car needs.
  13. I thought I would share some pics of my Fairlady Z with everyone (1 of 2 Fairladys I own). It started off with black trim when I purchased it. Then I decided to change the trim color to silver when I started my engine swap F54/P79 with triple mikunis from the original motor. I also repainted the engine bay. Anyhow comments welcome. Let me know what you guys think
  14. Davy, I have 2 280z doors minus the panels that I can give up for the cause. I just saw the post and my girl wants me to clear the garage and since I no longer have the 280z...... I just moved up to Brentwood, but will be in San Jose Saturday. I can drop the doors off at your house since I will be passing thru Fremont. PM me with your address. When you are done with them you give them to one of the memembers that might need it. I also have a passenger door for a 240 if you need it.
  15. I can't remember where I saw it, but on one of the Z boards I read that one member used a blow torch to carefully heat up the problem areas on his roof and then used a damp cloth from the interior to cool it down. A heat shrink method. The damp cloth was used to snap the heated metal back to its original shape. I'll see if I can find the thread.
  16. Have you thought of trying that black chrome? The looks vary in different lighting. Sometimes it has that cool anodized look sorta like black onyx or looks like like chrome in other lighting.
  17. I did all the things posted here as well as replacing the return fuel lines and making sure the covers for the for the rear qtrs were sealed up
