  1. Hi guys, I posted a couple of years ago some pics of my top chop s30. The progress is slowly, but the body starts to get shape. Not only the body is modified, other parts are suspension, steering geometry, engine position/angle, supercharger or in other words, only the tail lights are original............ Some floor mods to make room for the exhaust For the first time in the open air New wheels at ride height with suspension installed I have more pics on picasa. https://picasaweb.go...494375/20120609 Have fun. EDITED: 4.8 megs is much to large of a image size. Please change camera settings or manual re size before posting on HZ. Thank You.
  2. For the side windows i am using lexan in the modified windowsupport and the same for the rear quarters, because the lexan could be bent in the correct radius and cut easy for the shape. And the modified stainless steel window support will give the car it original classic look BUT in the shape like it should have had from the factory. The frond windscreen is still stock and the hoodlid has only a the vertical lip modified. I can still use the stock weather strips to keep the water outside. Greetings from Holland, Jack
  3. Hello tony, I think that when you used for your chassismembers metal from 2mm thickness, it wont be a problem. An Important piece will be from the chassismember to the lower area from the topmounting plate. This will give extra strength to the chassis. For the engine mounts is it an option to weld the towers direct on the chassis member. For more pics look at the link. I raised the floor and chassisrail and chopped the top. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=20355&size=big&cat= Greetings Jack
  4. I am planning front fenders, hood and roof panel from aluminum. I had also door skins in mind, but when i fabricated the quart of the front fender that matches with the door, i figured out that it is too difficult to build a door. I am still in a learning process and the aluminum "patch panels" that i already made are the first bigger parts. My biggest problem at this time is to make a mirror image from left and right with the same shape. And for the roof panel i first made a zagato style doubble bubble from the original roof with a welded lower part, but when i put the car on the road for a better view, it was not the shape that i had in mind. At that monent I made the decision that the roof had to be reshaped, this time in aluminum. To build all panels from aluminum can be someones dream, but you have to do what you can.......... I think this project is big enough, first finish my panels and body, then the rest. It can take a while before i have new pics, when I am working on the project, I can not be on hybridz. Ps thank you Tony for looking after the pics. Greetings from Holland
  5. how is the car looking at this time, look at my pics, have fun

  8. I have already for one front fender the aluminum parts to weld together, a zagato style roof in three pieces to put together on top of my top chop 280z
  9. where can i find the other crazy people who chopped the top? http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=891 http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=909 greetings from Holland
  10. I lowered the roof at the topcorner of the windscreen +- 50 mm and tilted it backwards 5 degrees. the roof was shortened +- 40 mm and i put the complete windscreen channel +- 15 to the front. When you just tilt the frame backwards, you will get a gap in the middle of the windscreen where the hood ends. For the rest of the story, look back in this thread. this is the link for the pictures. http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=891
  11. If you want to see some pics, than you can look at my pictures in the hybrids gallery search for jack280
  12. How is the project at this time. Is there anyone who picked op the saw? I am planning aluminum body panels. Why not....... greetings from holland.
  13. Two years ago, i started with my project. The plan was just paint it and drive it. After removing all the rusty spots, i made new frame rails to get a straight floor to lower the car 95 mm, after that i made steel fender flares to add 25mm in front and 40mm in the back. After that i was thinking of a top chop. Two weeks ago it happened. I cut out the front window frame and raked it 5 degrees back, lowered the roof with hood in one piece. after a day and a night welding and grinding, the stock windscreen still fit in its frame. The result is that the car is looking much wider than stock and most of the orig parts still fit like hood, bonnet ,suspension and crosmembers. My only problems to solve are the door and quarter windows from bend lexan, because i want to open it like original and i still use the stock modified frames and rubbers. After putting the car on the wheels, the height of the car is 1150mm and the lines of the car are only getting better. This is still al lot of work to finnish this job, but to cut the car from front to the back will be much more work. Good luck with your projekt.
  14. I think that we have the same ideas about the modifications of a Z. In july 2006 my project started with a rustfree body and a lot of spares. After a little planning and a lot of work, now i have space to lower the car almost to the bottom. I replaced the chassismembers and raised the floor. After creating new fender flares i am looking for the different collour codes for a '77 280z. Is there anyone who can help me? Greetings from Holland
