  1. i think its more like, "why not?" its like doing burn outs, or mudding in a 4x4. ya see it and it looks interesting, so you try it. then you try it and you like it, so you improve yourself to do it.
  2. i have a 240z rack on my s130, but my xmember is modified for it and i do say its not a walk in the park mod
  3. do you have a write up on your suspension setup? im interested in how you do the fronts.... i would just change out the entire suspension, but if i could retain as much "datsun" as possible would be great.
  4. Great looking zx mellow! that is one of the best all originals ive ever seen before.
  5. im starting to see quite a few posts of some of you guys swapping the complete 240sx suspension to the s130. just curious which versions you guys are doing, as s13 or s14? and was it worth it?
  6. i did modify the original oil pan to work as a rear pickup, but i felt its a bit risky. so i bought a new pan, and modded the crossmember to accept the front sump.... worked flawlessly. but for your situation, thats a lot of work you got cut out for you though. it should be worth it in the end.
  7. the detonation thing really isnt a biggie with me right now, because getting the ka's is like a walk in the park (cheap and easy to find). this is just going to be the starter block for now, because i will be building one up when i come back. i did the ka swap b/c someone already did the sr swap in a zx, and i really dont like the ca. as far as weight reduction, it is the iron block verson so its not to terribly much a weight loss, but having the engine so far back and so low makes it a really good choice imo. the coilovers are QA1 12" 425lb.... and trust me; it is not as stiff as it seems, it perfect for me. oh yeah the picture of the last zx is of my very first one after i was almost finished with it a long time ago
  8. ty, and sry for the pics not working for ya
  9. can anyone else see my pictures? can you see them mack? go here to see the pics i guess....http://picasaweb.google.com/roninjiro/S130
  10. my ka sits about 5 degrees on the the final install. and having all the extra room makes things so much easier to work on too as well as improve the balance of the car.
  11. here is my first zx from a long time ago (can you tell i love the the trans am racing look?)
  12. slownrusty coilover conversion Slightly modified crossmember for the KA Trial fitting fitting after paint mock fitting of almost everything and the updated interior a lot of the stuff ive done will be redone, because i didnt have much in funding at the time (charge piping, interior, suspension, etc.)
  13. dont forget about meh!! im working on a ka24det with my s130 with upgraded suspension and semi/interior. i couldnt sell or get rid of my car for the life of me, not even for a s30.....lol. the 280zx is just tooo sexy imo... hint the name "marlene" for mine. and marlene is in for a treat when i get back from iraq
  14. here ya go fellas... i read a lot of hotrod mag and remember this article. http://www.hotrod.com/projectbuild/113_0501_bonneville_national/index.html imo camaros have very similar aero as a zx, and if this car doesnt tell you that... delete the zx bumper and you kinda have the shape of the hotrod f-bomb. what made these cars go 200+mph with what we dont have; power and gearing for it.
  15. trying to see how many is too much. i have had a total of 4, and now just have one left... but i will be starting a collection next year! (280zx only of course)
  16. i think when i come back from iraq ima buy up a 2+2 and make it as this is.... truly the sweetest one ive ever seen, plus always need a place for the kiddos
  17. i was a witness to it and so were others on this forum.... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=76996 ...............and as i recall the body wasnt modified lightly (airdam, tail). but all in all it is possible and logical
  18. its ok man just messing with ya
  19. you should have about everything you need if you get the whole car. just see if the driveshaft is a direct fit, if not take the two driveshafts to a machinist to modify the two to work for your car. other than that i dont see any other problems.
  20. since the engine is an l24, now for this last question, are the input flanges on your differential and the skylines the same? (or are the differentials the same?)
  21. i've done a auto-manual swap before, but i used an L-series gearbox from a 240z, but... you wanna use the skyline manual and that i'm sure will not just bolt up to the L-series engine you have without an adapter i would imagine. but if it does work you will need these: -custom driveshaft -custom gearbox mount -manual brake pedal assembly -flywheel, clutch, pressure plate (assuming you can use a stock 280zx flywheel) -clutch master, and slave cylinder, with lines -etc...
  22. actually the problem wasn't the main power relay.... i also noticed that the fuel pump relay wasn't kicking in so right off i knew that the relays aren't the problem.. i tested the fuel pump relay wire coming from the MS system itself and turns out im getting 12.4 dcv there... so now the problem is indeed the actual MS board itself. upon further inspection, i have found that Q4 has two leads bridged together.....just buy looking at it is hard to see, but i ran a continutity test on it and sure enough unlike the other ZTX450 this one was certainly bridged... so i have to go over the entire board to make sure i didnt goof up anything else. any other ideas on why my board is sending 12vdc to my fuel pump relay output would be greatly appreciated btw i could still use a simulator if anyone is done with theirs....
