  1. Wow, I saw the face first too, and as soon as someone said sandal I can't see it anymore either! Too wierd!
  2. Damn, I really wanted to go to Claude Rouelle, but being my final year of FSAE I really wanted to be around for the roadtrip home with the team too. In retrospect I think I made a good choice though. We did some sightseeing on the way home, and saw some great places like Wall Drug. (after 2 trips across the US seeing the signs for hundreds of miles, we finally stopped to see what all the hype was about, figuring there was a guy in a shack making signs and that was it) I wish I had the chance to do it all again though and hit Claude Roulle's seminar this time around. (I guess I could just find a way to cough up the $1500+ its going to cost me)
  3. If you are getting a 3" downpipe made, continue on with 3" piping all the way back... 2.5 is too small for anything but a stock turbo engine. (and probably too small there too) 3" pass through muffler, etc. Lots of people here have compared, and its been said over and over again that the 3" exhaust is the single best mod you can make to your turbo car.
  4. Those pics are a bit bigger. Looking sweet. Specifically, how does the turbo you are using compare with the stock one for spoolup, midrange torque, etc?
  5. Most likely the CAS is a magnetic trigger of some sort, and not optical, in which case the amount of dirt you'd aquire in a couple hours of driving will NOT be the problem. Can't help you with the specifics of the L-jetronic system, but I know there are bosch books out there specifically on that system, I'd recommend looking into them.
  6. I'm no skyline expert, but you are right and your friend is wrong. The R34 came with a RB26DETT. (twin turbo 2.6L inline 6) The R33 and R32 came with a R25DET (single turbo inline 6) Like I said I am no expert, but I pretty sure this info is correct. Definately correct regarding the inline 6 part! (I'm not 100% certain that the R33 and the R32 both came with the RB25)
  7. Hey 240jz, whats up? I was one of those crazy UVic guys in detroit last year that crammed into your van heading downtown... were you one of the ~20 people in that van too? Hmm, didn't realize you guys were running 7's in the rear... thought your setup was the same as ours for wheels and tires. Or were the 7's just a testing thing?
  8. Haha, for some reason I was thinking it was a 4 channel.. yeah the L+ and L- assessment makes much more sense as others described.
  9. Yeah... how do you like the new turbo? Got any more pictures of your car? The ones in your profile seem to be the wrong height:width ratio and are kinda smallish.
  10. Judging from Honda's bike engines it doesn't need to be that beefy to survive 9000rpm. Worth further research however... Anyone know if it uses balance shafts? Usually it seems that is reserved for the larger 4 cylinders mind you...
  11. Is this with the new turbo in scotty? Good stuff. Oh and by the way, the place you live has one of the coolest names I've seen.
  12. I'm a bit of a NIN fan... more into Tool, Rammstein, KMFDM however. But damn bastaad, you have some cool stuff on that site!
  13. I think you have a vacuum leak bastaad and at night since its darker, the air is heavier (more pigment than daytime air) so it clogs up the leak for you.
  14. Well in the case of bob's post, he's not a moderator so I believe he cannot lock a thread. Otherwise, good point.
  15. I wish I had a 75 or 76 tank for my car...
  16. Uh, don't the ECU's have to be grounded? That is the case with most of them...
  17. It was our feeling that between the non-tech board, and the motorsports board, you pretty much had "I'm telling ya" covered. Great to hear you are happy with your turbo swap.
  18. I'm not really sure what the refresh rate is on the SDS LCD monitor. I was thinking valve springs too actually... but it doesn't seem that it should 'brick wall' like that even with bad springs.... It would be good if we knew the history of the valvetrain/head.
  19. You are supposed to leave the metal sleeve in the mustache bar, but not in the front control arms. If sport Z is telling you to take the sleeves out of the moustache bar, they are contradicting how energy suspensions directs the bushings be installed, as well as the experience of hundreds here. I'd suspect that sport Z is a bit wrong in this case. (and by a bit, I mean totally)
  20. Yup, worked well for me too. I did burn everything out before hand though.
  21. Or the V8Z crowd. These cars are beasts. Throw on a 20mm restrictor, work your ass of to get 80rwhp out of the engine through the restrictor at 13,000rpm. Make as much torque as you can. (usually about 50ft-lbs) Feed it through the 6spd gearbox. Then you take a ~440lbs car, throw 13"x6" super-soft tires on it, a zexel torsen limited slip diff, big brakes and some serious gear reduction. 75m in 4.01 seconds. This is how the acceleration event is run in Detroit. Most top teams are doing about 70mph at 75m. 0-70mph in 4.01seconds. Throw in 1.5g's of cornering and braking. However, your first meeting with an SUV wouldn't be a good one... unless it was the Canyonaro and you managed to go under it.
  22. Not the same setup at all, but for me to get a tach to work (without coil packs mind you) I had to hook it up to a wire coming out of the computer, not at the coil.
  23. I'm fairly certain all Z's had hardened valve seats...no? First off, take a look at both engines and tell us what casting numbers are on the head. (between #1 & #2 sparkplug) Should be E31, E88, N42, etc. This will sortof determine what way to go. On one hand you can have good fuel economy, decent power, and EFI cold starts. On the other hand you can have simplicity, a bit less economy, a bit more power and a choke. In the end, you can't go wrong with either setup really. If you are planning on driving the car a lot, I would say EFI should be chosen. If its a weekend fun car, the SU's are just fine for that.
  24. Well James, you could always switch to Pepsi. But if you can't stand doing that, then I guess you'll just have to make due with New Coke. Or you could wait for Classic to come out again, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.
