If it's at a fair price I will buy one too. I will start looking for a R230 diff. I think I have seen some cars in the salvage yard that have them. Keep us up to date on how far you are on making the kit. Seems you have plenty of buyers lined up. Thanks! Jason W.

OK, just let us know when you have it ready. Will everything be mostly bolt in? I love bolt in.

I wanted to be the first to post in this new forum. You snooze, you lose.

I am thinking of putting in a R230 in my 1971 240Z. I can not seem to find a LSD R200 anywhere around here. I thought someone here was, or is, making a kit to do this swap. What would I have to pick up at the salvage yard and what does the kit come with. Also, what's the price of the kit? Thanks! To anyone with info one this... Jason Winkfield

How much do the Momo "Fighter" and "Race" cost? They look really nice.

Centerline Wheels... got questions.
Jwink25 posted a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I am thinking about getting a set of Ceterline wheels but do not want to pay the $200 price tag MSA has on them. Does anybody know where I can get the Sabre Wheels cheaper. I have seen the same style in a Jegs catalog, but the lug spacing is different. Would they be able to get them in the Datsun spacing? Is MSA the only dealer for the Datsun lug spacing on these wheels. What is the wheel off-set and lug spacing on a Datsun Z car. How wide a rim and tire can I put on a stock 240Z. If I put on coilovers how much wider can I go? Thanks for any info you guys can give. Jason W. -
I need 350HP out of my 289. How can I do it?

Thanks for the info. guys! Jason -
I would like to get about 350HP out of my '67' 289. I will have the engine block reworked and have the internals balanced. I was thinking on using: Roush World Class heads Comp 280 Magnum cam I'll be running about 9.5 to 1 CR Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold Headers...whatever will fit. Can anyone give me an idea what this setup could get me? Any hints or tips would be great. I have never built up a 289 before. Also, this car will see mostly street action with a few trips to the strip. So good drivablity should be taken into account. I don't mind a ruff idle...just not to rough. Anyone ever run a 280 Magnum cam before? Thanks! Jason Winkfield

So what kind of HP are you getting out of your engine? Is it a stock 302 or have you beefed it up some. Also, are you running a 5 speed or an auto?

I love that website. I have been wanting to do that to my 67 Cougar for sometime. I think a twin turbo small block in a Z car would rock. Just gotta worry about body twist with all that power.

What about seats out of a Probe GT? I like those seats. I guess I could pull them out of my car and find out.

I got a digital camara (need to get it back from a friend). So I'll be able to take some pics. I am going to take some of the car now so I'll have before and after pics. I am going to use a C6 tranny in the car for right now. Has anyone one done this before? Will it fit just like a C4? The reason for the C6 is because it is already built up. I would like to get my hands on a 5 speed, but they are hard to come by around here. Jason W.

Well guys, after many delays (and changed minds) I finaly picked the enigne I am going to use in my Z. When I first bought it over 2 years ago I was going to rebuild the stock motor. Then put in a built 280 motor, then a Turbo motor, then a ....so on and so forth. I toyed with the idea of a small block Ford in it for a while. First a 302 then a 351W...well...now I have made up my mind for sure. I will be pulling the 289 out of my 67 Cougar(gotta make room for the 351W) and building it up to about 300HP. I am ordering a crossmember from alsil. It looked to be very well made. I can't wait to drop the V8 in. I bought my 1971 "early" Z for only $300 bucks!!! It was almost completely disassembled when I got it. There where boxes and boxes of parts. I aslo got enough extra parts to almost build two cars. The extra parts came from a 260Z that was tore apart by the guy I bought the car from. The car's body was almost as straight as an arrow, and had almost no rust on it what so ever! I could not believe my find. I had never really ever worked on an old Z car before I got this one. So it's been a learning experince to say the least! Not having taken most of the parts off myself didn't help either. There was alot of "hmmm..what's this thing" and "where's this go". I have since done alot of work to the car. I still need to finish the body work and painting. I sanded, painted, and then water sealed and under coated the underside and inside of the car. That was a lot of work but since these cars didn't come undercoated from the factory it was needed. I wanted to keep my car rust free. I have never seen an old Z car as rust free as mine. I have also redone almost every thing on this car. figured since it was already out of the car might as well as repaint, rebuild, or do whatever to it. I want to upgrade the braking and suspension on it. and put in all new urethane bushings. This car is going to be so much fun! I hope! Well, thanks for reading this long post. Feel free to give out any tips or hints on dropping in a 289. jwink25

Hmmmm....if it's a fuel problem, could it be that his float is sticking closed? When it starts to die try pumping the gas pedal sevral times. If the float is sticking closed you might be able to keep it running by doing this. If it works it might be that your float is sticking. Or maybe it is stuck opened and you are flooding your engine. Do you smell gas? Just some thoughts.

Where could I buy a front motor plate? I am going to be puting in a 351W. I am wanting to use a front motor plate. Would Jegs sell them. I thought I saw some in one of thier mags. I think they were the kind that bolted to the front of the heads. It was a two piece set up. One for each side. Would that alone be strong enough to hold the engine in place? Any help would be great.

I was wondering if it's alright for me to post pics of your car on another site? I was wanting to show them how good a Z car can look. Have you ever thought of making a body kit? You have one of the best looking cars of all time. For real! Anyway...I thought I would ask you if I could show some others how cool a Z can be.
-
Can you send me some pics too? I am going to try to drop in a 351W and would like to see examples of the mounts other people have used. jwink25@yahoo.com

It sounds to me that maybe you had a bit of help from above. It would have sucked to loose a fellow Z car owner.
-
About how much would you charge for your mounts?

Will a 351W fit into a 1971 240Z? I am getting my old Mustang back, and it has a 351W in it. I was wondering if it would fit in my 1971 240Z? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks guys! Its been a long time since I posted...does anybody remember me?

Thanks guys! What about that plastic tank in the hatch area? The one with the venting lines running to it? Does that have to be hooked up? I got my car in pieces...lots of pieces. So I have not had the benefit of seeing how much of it was put together. Any help here would be great. Thanks again.

HI! Can I use my stock 240Z fuel tank, if I drop in a mostly stock 1992 5.0, that has a carb? Will I get enough gas to it? Also, what about the stock fuel lines? Can I retain these as well? This will be a street car...and hopefully a fast one!

posted December 09, 2001 01:51 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone! I am kinda new here. I have been reading over some of the topics posted here. You seem to be a bunch of good guys. Most people have very good info. to share and everyone's attitude is good. So a big thanks to everyone here! Does anyone live near Joplin, MO? I am planning to either put in my Turbo Z engine in my 1971 240Z or V8 it with a 302. If anyone does live around here I would like to visit them sometime and maybe get some ideas and maybe get to know some other Z car people. Also, if I go the V8 route, does anyone know of somebody that would like to buy a good running 280Z turbo engine? Thanks! Jwink25
