i found a web sight today that has some pretty intresting things on it. i think the fellw is off on some of his stuff but could be on to some other things.... here is the link: http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/lsd2/index.htm

i think it has something to do with your rims. they look similar to the rims i've seen on the porche boxters running around town here. i guess it gives it a sorta euro look.
-
The five lug 300ZX hub has a different offset then the 4 lug hub. You can swap the two but wheel mounting point moves outward about 1". Your new rims need about 24mm of offset to counter this new mounting location. the new rims are a 26mm offset. pretty close to the 24mm in which is what is needed. hopefully everything will go well. i'll keep you posted. by the way scottygnz a friend of mine saw the new pics of your car and argued with me up and down that it was a porche. and also has anyone figured out if the southeast meet will be taped on video or not. i'm not going to be able to make it and would love to see it.

LT1 intake manifold modified to fit GEN I heads.
biohzrd replied to zgeezer's topic in Fuel Delivery
the lt1 will far out flow the stock tpi. i have a friend that is putting out 517hp on the stock manifold and heads. we did spend about a total of 70 hrs of port work but it can floww some serious #s. darius240z has a suercharged lt1 that is getting in to the 650hp range. the lt1 flows alot better in the upper rpm ranges then the tpi. the down side is that it won't produce quite as much torque down low. but in a z who needs it. -
you would be correct sir. that is unless you do a five lug conversion which i'm only short the rear calipar brackets. after that it's almost a bolt on job.

So...who will be the first to attempt the 350z motor swap?
biohzrd replied to ratedZ's topic in Non Tech Board
actually shouldn't have been the 320z. if you go by the past numbering 240,260,280,300..... it jumps in spreads of 20. 350z sounds like it should have a sbc 350 in it -
the offset is about 2mm wide by my math. my machinist said he'd whip me up some shims to make the differance. as far as the center caps go i'm going to see if i can machine me a set with a z in them to fit. they should be alright. heck for 2mm i could always just put a washer behind each lug.
-
first of all if it's a 70' it'll be a 240z. to answer your second question the worst place imo is in the frame rails, followed by the floorpans and rear quarters. if you havn't seen the car yet expect the worst.

just so you guys don't think your the first. if you would like to see them you can go here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1855571836&rd=1 i can't wait for them to come in. not to bad of a price either. can't wait to see them on the z

sounds like to me the easiest "maybe not the cheapest" would be to find a donor car. i'm not sure if you know it or not but the only differance between the lt1 and the lt4 is the port height on the intake side. you could very easily port out a lt1 to flow as good as the lt4. if you go this route you could always find complete lt1 engines with sensors and wiring harness for under a grand. a buddy of mine can get complete lt1's with a t56 for $1400. the lt4s only came in vettes and are few and far between. as far as a computer goes you can get one for a 93/94 model camaro for around a hundred bucks. they can be reprogrammed pretty easy wihtout much money. for injectors look in jegs and order the ford svo 30lbers for aroun $200. they will work on ford and chevy and are alot cheaper then accel or another aftermarket brand. i've seen them handle up close to 500hp with no problems. just get an adjustable fuel regulator and turn it up to about 50 to 55 lbs.
-
it's going to be for a destroked 400.... a 377ci. it's a 406 w/ a 350 crank in it. the heads and cam are going to rather large to say the least and it will be fuel injected with a converted lt1 intake and an 1100cfm throttle body. i know it'll put out the #'s when it's set up right. i've just been told that two t3s would run out of juice around the 5500 rpm mark for my motor. i'm know expert when it comes to turbos so i could use all the input i could get.
-
if you are talking about the transaxle in the rear of the newer model vette.... i don't believe it bolts to a block at all. i think it bolts to a torque tube and to the rear subframe. in any case a LOT OF WORK to get it into anything including the original vette.
-
i need some help with this guys. in all the junkyards all i can find are t03s. did the t04 come stock on anything. also i have fould a couple of good deisel turbos. what's the skinny on these things. they're pretty big. would looking at a heavy equipment scrap yard be better. i know they use a lot of turbo deisel engines on those. any help would be great

LT1 intake manifold modified to fit GEN I heads.
biohzrd replied to zgeezer's topic in Fuel Delivery
just my personal thoughts on this one but i think i'd probly go ahead and let him do the transition. for what he's charging it's really a pretty good deal. plus he knows all tricks to it so to speak -
thanks for the info.. i figured the t3's would run out of juice befor i wanted them too. as far as the T72/P .81 goes what did they come on or are they a totally aftermarket unit. i know i can get my hands on to4s and put different guts in them to get what i'm looking for. i know that the dreaded spool up really won't be much of an issue with a big ci sbc.
-
i am tinkering around with the idea of going twin turbo on my next motor. i was wondering what size some the turbo experts here think. i would like to get around 700 to 800 hp on a big inch sbc. say 377,383,406 ect.... do you think two t3's would be up to the task or would i get better results with t04's and that size... kinda new to the turbo game so any help is great.

Shall I stand corrected???? Grumpy anyone....
biohzrd replied to ToplessZ's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
no you can't run heads w/ 2.02 1.60 valves. they will hit the cylender walls. the only exception to this is are the trick flow twisted wedge heads due to the fact they relocate the valves. other than that 1.94 are the biggest. -
there are ways around the thin cylender walls believe it or not on a 400. not too many consider this to be a safe alternative but my machinist has never had one come back on him. grout fill p to the water pump holes on the bottom end and on the head surface tap the existing holes and plug then with an flush fit allen head plug. after that go through and drill a hole in each hole about a quarter of an inch in diameter and your all set. my motor was done this way and has over 15,000 miles on it and hasn't given me the first problem with heating and i live in the deep south were it's hot almost all year. plus if you want to spray it or boost it your safe. i would recomend a good high compasity oil cooler though. by doing these things your good to go with about as much as you want to throw at it. oh yea i'd also recommend getting a 2bolt block and having 4 bolt splayed caps installed.
-
thanks for the link lone. as far as 4" being a little big i'm afraid thats what it's going to take. my motor is really going to have to beable to breathe if you know what i mean. for right now it's going to be the 406 but the 377 is on the stand and i'm waiting on the to4's to get rebiult. then i'll most likely end up killing myself. may find a twin turbo z on ebay when that happens and yes i may be a little

Just Installed Tokico Illuminas
biohzrd replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i've been debating it myself. is the performance that much better that it justifies the $$$$. by the way that is a pretty cheap deal on them. -
getting a little off topic what about giong from dual 3" off the headers into a single 4" from the tail hsg back? what i'm really concerned with is groud clearance. right now in my camaro i have about 2 3/4" to 3" . it's not really a problem until i get a passenger. also does anyone no of a company that makes oval pipe. thanks

i had an old car that looked like that... it's an old hot rodders trick. you can get the same effect by spraying your car with black primer and then spray a clear coat over it. looks pretty good when it's done right(not really that hard to mess up) i often thought of painting my z like that but adding a coat of gloss black flames on the front hood, fenders, ect..... and then clear coating it leaving a ghosted effect.
