  1. Well trying to keep busy until I build the rotisserie for the car. So I built a RT mount today
  2. Havent had much time to wok on the beast for about week. Finally got to work on her yesterday. Finished stripping the rest of the paint of the rear quarters and rear of the car. Beat out the dents in the roof and discovered that the right rear section of the rocker has seen better days. More patch work
  3. Started to remove all the sound deadening crap tuesday night and prepping the rear strut towers for some welding The last night removed the rest of the sound deadening crap off the tranny tunnel. Then welded up the rear strut towers this morning And a close up of the welds. LOVE my Hobart!!! Now starting on the roof. Found some dents and I hate bondo if you haven't guessed that now
  4. Thanks man!!! Yea haven't got to that point yet. Just getting some of the major repairs out of the way and testing my fabing abilities. I have never done any body work except for buffing paint. Really enjoying building this car and seeing what it will shape out too. Taking a break on it tonight. Need to just relax before I design a rotisserie for it. Then it's going to get the new floors and frame rails. Then of course a full SCCA legal roll cage.. So did you pick up that car over the weekend?
  5. At clutchdust-- is is a bone stock f54 block w/ flat tops n42 head. With a mild cam around the .400 lift with around 290 duration. Also a lightened fly wheel. Header. Triple 44mm mikuni's. A 5 speed tranny. 3:70 LSD R160 subi diff. This is a street car driven too and from the track. It has ground ctrl coilovers w/ 275 springs. And az brakes front and rear. Nothing else. Yes I agree a Vette will out run it in a drag race but it's going to have to be a Z06. And for the money at a 1/5 the cost.
  6. Here you go This is my buddies Z. Enjoy!! Start watching around 6:00 mins on
  7. Got the new panel cut out and shaped just finished welding it in
  8. Started to section out part of the body. I hate bondo so the less I have to use the better. He's the start
  9. You can go to pick and pull or any junk yard pull a lower end out of an 81-83 280zx non turbo motor. It's an f54 block w/ flat top pistons in it already. The pull a n42 head off a 280z or find a p90 head W/ the n42 head you wil get close to 10:1 compression. The a good came w/ about .500 lift w about 300 duration. Isky makes a great cam for pretty cheap. Then a good set of 40mm or 45mm triple side draft carbs. Pull a tranny out of a 81-83 zx as well good gear ratios. That's where I would start. My buddy has this combo and his 73 eats 90% of the cars on the street and eats most vets and 911's on the track. Very inexpensive except for the carbs. You will pay any where from $800 and up for used carbs w/ manifold and linkage
  10. Put in a Built L28 with a hot cam and triple carbs or put on a L28ET
  11. Last night shaved the pass bumper indent and seam welded/stitch welded to front strut towers and front frame rails
  12. Alright so I started to strip some paint off the drivers rear of the car cause I saw some bondo. Next thing I relize there is over a 1/4" think section of bondo. So I had to see what laid benith. DAMN.!!! More patching is going to need to be done I think
  13. Thanks!!!! Had a blast. That's why I am going nuts on building mine. The only thing that is slowing me down is $$$. Wish it would grow on trees Not working on the beast tonight didn't get any sleep last night. But tomarrow night will start prepping the body for a ton of stitch welding.
  14. Have all the SCCA rules downloaded. Will be diffently building the cage to thier specs. Makes class entry's a little easier Right now going to be doing the NCRC open track days to get the time behind the wheel. Just had my first track day on Sept 23. Had a blast Used my buddies car It's a 73 240z with a f54 block w/ flat tops, P79 head, all stock. Triple 44 mikuni's header and lightened flywheel. Here's the vid
  15. I have only about 12 hours into my build so far. I have a 11 month old so the only time I get is an hour or 2 during the day and a couple hours at night if I done have a honey do list going I guess being a mechanic pays off sometimes Finished smoothing the welds last night and filling the old antana hole Here's some pics
  16. Not too worried about that. My biggest concern is safety and riggity. I drive a jeep with a true full cage in it daily and not much more room than the z. I can't stand half cages do to the fact it's only a half cage only half the protection. After being it a roll over in high school in my buddy's truck. Is full cage in anything fast or slow for off road use and street use. If in an accident on the street in the z or jeep it's gonna hurt no matter what. Just saying. If I end up wanting to do a certain none modified classes then I will build another z. But for now I am going custom look and safety
  17. It's the handler 210. Great welder. Works great for my 4x4 projects and doing thin sheet. Love it
  18. So got the trim holes welded up and the left side bumper indent plated. Turned out alot better than I thought for being 22ga steel. Love my holbart!! Still need to do finish grinding
  19. Not sure yet. Will know for sure when I start the cage. No matter what it will be built to always take people for rides on open track days.
  20. So starting some body work while I get some $ put aside for baddog frame rails. Shaving all the rear bumper area to clean up the body lines a litlle Here's the start
