Well guys ive just came acros a deal i cannot give up. i can get a 2005 gto 6.0. well what i was wandering is what are the similarities between the ls2 mounts and the common 350 mounts. the ls2 already has well built heads. so i really want this engine. i know the driver side headers have to be custom made. and im pretty sure the mounts also have to be custom made. unless the 280z and 280zx mounts are the same. then i can get the ones made for the ls2/280z. also my car has a r200 diff and i know i need a camaro drive shaft shortened and with the new rear yoke. so any help would be needed on this swap.

well i can personally say i have experience with the 4g63, the 4g64 and the srt motor. my buddy has a galant with a 46g4 the 2nd gen gst turbo manifold, turbo and full exhaust all hook up to that. his car is very tourqey spinning the wheels with all motor and a few upgrades he can spin through 2nd. so ya plenty of tourqe. his girlfriend just got a 1st gen gsx. this one is fun. stock pistons for the turbo engine run $79 at autozone. and since they are forged can handle good amounts of boost. the srt motors are very powerful. i have a buddy with a pt cruiser gt, yes the station wagon thing, and hes in low 14s with a few mods. then i have a friend named j.d. with a srt-4 built really well holding 26lbs (low boost) and he runs in the mid 11's spinning slicks, so ya all of these motors are really good and powerful. my thoughts were pointed toward the 3000gt vr4 engines. they make roughly 300 hp from the factory, and with a few minor upgrades can be really nasty

with a nice hammer maybe a cutting tool and some tlc it will. i was going to put one in mine but i decided not to because it was a ton of work. i went to a junkyar found a 300zx turbo from 86 it has turbo etched into the seat and fit decently. i know for sure two bolts line up .

280zx_sliding replied to Cody 82 ZXT's topic in Body Kits & Paint
i have yet to do this but i know if u use the kitty hair it will hold really good. and should not break unless u get hit. and i think that would be the least of ur worries if u get hit... but ya what he listed sounds like a good idea. i do body work at my house when im not working at Chili's. lol but ya what he says should work pretty well. -
Well i have a 1981 280zx 2 seater. i bought the car from a guy who gave me parts that wernt yet on the car. he gave me tokico lowering springs, and kyb shocks which i put on. the car sits where the front tires almost tuck. well the problem im having is when i turn the steering wheel while not moving i hear like a click, or a popping sound coming from the front. and then if i straighten the steering wheel out and start driving which ever way the wheel was turned the car will pull.... and it pulls hard. have any of ya'll experienced this or have any of yall fixed this problem?

well living in texas i know u cant have the headlights the same color as any emergency vehicle. i.e. red, blue. u also cant have strobing underbodies. as ive noticed it distracts other drivers and once again is illegal. what i would suggest is setting ur lights up where when u hit the brights u have another light that is red. that way when u wanna hang out or go to a show just turn ur brights on. my buddy did that in his galant with green and it is nice.

wow i like the green headlights. how did u do those??? let me know i wanna do some of my own just not in green. also nice car. in my opinoin it needs to be lowerd. i have the same body kit and it looks really nice lowered. try getting some tokico lowering springs and kyb shocks. theyre very comfy. and give it a real nice ride height. -
not 100% sure what im seeing but i noticed the guy who had the car before me was a complete idiot... he didnt put the bottom bolt into the alternator and thats why the top one wasnt holding. my next question is that i have oil all underneath the car but its just a gasket leak. is the oil pan gasket rtv or is it a whole gasket. plus where can i get that alternator bolt???
-
well i was getting a sqweak from my belt area so i changed the belts. noticed that my alternator was pretty loose. I took the screw out and the threads had the threads from inside the alternator on them. what do u think i should do about this??? should i go with a new alternator or go with tapping the alternator again

thats really cool and as ronin knows i would be happy without a loud belt. its howling cuz it has a tooth or two missing. i just got my tokico lowering springs with the kyb shocks on. it rides incredibly smooth. just have a slight alignment problem i have to fix. i think the spring is turned a little bit. but it rides smooth. the front tires are tucking under the wheel well pretty good. ill take pics when i put the rest of the body kit on...when changing out the front rotors what tool do i use to get that little nut off??? -
clean shaved is always funner

ya i agree with what theyre saying. either that or do the rally style with the rear diffusers. kinda like darisus project. or something totally different that if done right would help the car and make it look mean as hell is the spoiler that comes out from underneath the car. if u dont know what im talkin about think gran turismo 2 suzuki escudo or whatever it is.

yes insignia red is the same as ferrari red. just the official name for it. i found this out yesterday talking to the local rx7 freak. he painted his fd insignia red. but his fc is absolute white. he put it next to his friends fd which was factory white... it made the white look yellow.

ya when i get te video from my friend I will show you some of my fun i had in it. i need to put my suspension and clutch in and then it will get better... u dont have to wory about breaking ur car if ur a good driver... practicing in a empty parking lot is my favirote thing to do. -
what about the newer mustang head lights. the round ones. i saw a set of these on an s14 drift car and it looked very good. i think the setup u have there would look really good with the round headlights from the mustang. or if that dosnt work i would suggest some integra headlights. once again the round ones. those look really goos also. it will keep along with the bubble look... not trying to lable ur car. good body work by the way. im going to do alot of body work to mine. starting with a molded body kit...

well age dosnt mean anything. we are brothers. we all need to get z rings or a national z sign like when we see another z just put it in the air. lol i understand alt of people dont understand drifting. but drifting started by a pro course driver who practiced it to keep him from spinning out... the reason i like it is cuz it not only clears my mind. (i know its weird) but also cuz its an adrenaline rush for alot of people. -

MomsZ u forgot one thing... you forgot about at the drift course... i went out last night with my buddy who has a 240sx and we went drifitng around... i was in second gear at like 2k rpm and punched it and broke the rears loose. he on the other hand clutch kicked to break his loose.. Thats how Z's Role... But what makes mine different is that the speedo dosnt work, its got the eagle alloys (5 spoke chrome 14s), its primer with a high heat aluminum racing stripe (got bored and had a can of it) its getting painted for real as a christmas present. Its not a T top and the chrome strip has been removed, well other then that it is all the parts i have yet to put on it. i.e. dual fricition centerforce clutch, tokico lowering springs, kyb gas shocks (i know not good for after market springs), front slotted and drilled rotors, and 6-2-1 headers. also it has no muffler, its got about a 1" pipe after the cat. and the last thing that makes mine different is that i take it sideways... though alot of yall dont like it i still do it pictures will be coming as soon as my buddy puts them on the computer -

280zx_sliding replied to 280zx_sliding's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
well i dont have the passenger seat rails. i have the 240sx seat rails though. how much modification is needed for those rails. -
ronin the only thing i can think of is maybe cleaning some of the electrical stuff. i.e. the tps, swap the ecu, check vacuum lines... just do little things like that to get it all under way. i would like to come see ur z. since i am in killeen

HEy guys im new to the forum and the datsun world . i was wandering what seats will directly bolt into the passenger side of the 280zx? i have a corbeau racing bucket in the driver side and need another seat for chicks when i go drifting so i was wandering what will direclty bolt in without much hunting and looking? i have a 240sx seat at my house, an integra seat(91) and 2 89civic hatch back seats. i dont mind how it looks as long as it is somewhat comfy for the chicks.

well if u get a rb offline with an automatic tranny it should cost u roughly 1.5-2g an rb25 or 26 then get a ka24 standard tranny off of a 240sx. this bolts right up. drop it in and do the wiring. cost of all this... 2.3g if u do the swap urself. cost with swap done professionally around 6g

smaller steering wheel or even getting a turning accelerator. thats the non professional word for it. i have seen a few of them that it takes like a 1/4 of the turn on the steering wheel compared to stock. it just goes onto the sterring column itself after the firewall
