  1. I was just wondering if there was a better way than the one that I came up with.
  2. Other than the way I have it right now. I cant really put on inside the engine bay because the crankshaft pulley is way to far forward. And this project is something I bought off of someone so its not my fault its so far forward. Any suggestions would be helpful. This is how I have it right now
  3. Ah, that would explain my confusion, I thought they were more like manuals in that respect. I guess you learn something new all the time.
  4. Yeah, it fired up good. Thats how it hit the wall. Umm the problem was that when I turned the key for the starter the relay I had powering the coil lost power. So I hooked up the coil straight to the battery, I thought I had broke something so I didnt take many safety percautions. I had also put way to much gas in the carberautor so when it started the back wheels did a little burnout and then slamed into the wall. Luckily the truck was only about 2 feet away so it didnt have much speed.
  5. Thanks, I got lucky, could have ran myself over. As far as body work though I might just end up replacing the cab so I can one 74 or older. Netrual is on only gear that you can roll the vechile back and forth, right?
  6. Heres some pictures of the damage. What I dont is it should have been in netrual because its free rolling or maybe im missing something.
  7. Well, im probaly the stupidest person alive. I thought I had it in netrual but evidently I didnt becuase the truck ran straight into a concrete wall when it finally fired up.
  8. Yes I have looked im not quite sure what I should be looking for but I did check the continuity of the wire and it was good.
  9. Okay I hooked up the distributor to the negative side of the coil, so thats the only thing on the negative side, and it still doesnt work, any suggestions?
  10. Okay, that would probaly explain why its not working. I'll try firing it up tonight. Thanks for all the help.
  11. Thanks for all the input. But now I hooked it all up so the coil has +12 volts and is grounded and the wire that comes from the distributor to the negative side of the coil. But when I crank on the starter it turns over fine and I have fuel but I dont have spark. Is there any easy ways to check the coil/distributor?
  12. The wire is coming out of the bottom of the distributor as far as I can tell. How can you tell what type of distributor it is?
  13. Okay, I have a 350 sbc and there is a single black wire coming off the distributor. Im assuming that it is a ground wire but thought I would ask before I wired it wrong.
  14. Ill be there. It sounds like its going to be alot of fun.
  15. Heh, super old thread revival, anyways I currently live in Clackamas Oregon.
  16. I just checked the plugs and I have them hooked up right and they are on tight. Im using the cheap bosh plugs with the copper and single electrode. I tried using better gas 91 instead of the stuff my dad had sitting around and it still runs pretty much the same. Also I was searching around on the fourms and was wondering if some of my problems could because I dont have the knock sensors or the oyxgen sensors hooked up?
  17. Im pretty sure that I have the spark plug wires hooked up right, but ill check again tonight. They are new spark plug wires and spark plugs. The wires are Taylor full metal jacket wires and the plugs are some kind of Bosh plugs.
  18. Hey guys will you guys watch this video to see if my engine sounds like its running right. It sounds like the timing is off. When you rev it it makes popping sounds with you let off the throttle.
  19. Yeah, I meant that it had airbubbles in it. But it doesnt have any now that I have added more fluid. When I have the car at idle it seems to be in the hot range and I still have the problem so im worried my tranny might be bad.
