  1. On the rebuilt items they usually offer a lifetime warantee or a minimum of a year. I just had that problem with a starter I bought three months ago. It just went bad so I got a new one in yesterday for free.
  2. I know what you mean. The good thing is that most of my parts have a lifetime warantee so WHEN they go bad I just have to figure out what it is and get a rebuilt one shipped. My car is like your car I've got a 82 Turbo motor in a 81 non turbo body, with a Z31 fan/fan clutch, hooked up to a 83 non turbo tranny with a 83 digital dash and a soon to be installed late 80's Z31T ECU.
  3. Thanks Momz same to you. The problem with the old cars is that nobody keeps parts in stock or makes new ones. So until they make a new one I'm stuck with rebuilt garbage. It sux too because evertime I have to get it replaced I have to repaint it and wait for it to cure before I can use my ride That was the problem BTW, the starter.
  4. I had the starter checked and Autozone said it was bad which is supprising because I bought it only a few months ago(< 6 months). I have a new one being shipped that will be here tomorrow under warantee . I hope that's all it was.
  5. I checked the connections to the battery terminals and they are on good and tight without any corrosion to prevent a good connection. I tried jumping the starter and it wound up with the car in the off position but when I put it in the run position and tried to jump the starter nothing. The thing that sucks is that the started is only four months old but at least it has a lifetime warantee.
  6. The battery is only two weeks old and when I try to turn over the car the head lights don't dim.
  7. I have a 1981 280zxt and it was running fine until I decided to put a boost gauge in. After I put it in I didn't have the right size hose to fit over both the gauge vacume hose inlet and the intake vacume hose outlet. I needed an adapter. I just rigged it on there yesterday until I could fix it today. On my way to work this morning I was doing 70 and the vacume hose fell off the intake manifold. The drive to work and back was a total of one hour. This made it barely stay running. I was going to fix it when I got home but when I went to leave my friends house after work the car wouldn't start. It wouldn't even turn over. Just a one initial click. No starter trying to turn over or poor running engine. Any suggestions? I think it may be a bad relay but don't know which one.
  8. Looking for working original tape player/radio combination. Anybody have one lying around?
  9. I heard that there was going to be a suped up 350z with 450-500hp called a 450z. It was just hear say as far as I know. Would be cool though. It is suppost to be out in 2008-2009ish. It was suppost to be a V6 that could compete with the V8s and go back to the basics like the 240z. No fancy stuff.
  10. That should be enough for now. I just want to be able to turn up and down my turbo without destroying something.
  11. It's cool, I just wanted to know if there was a more affordable one. Thanks though.
  12. Supposedly my mechanic said that 19lbs is the most it can handle and he has seen it done. He works at a Z shop here in Florida. I only want to run 16lbs at the most but there might be that day when I want to push the limit just to see so I want to be prepared. I know about the HKS kit but that is way too far out of my price range. I just thought maybe somebody knew of an intercooler that I could buy seaperate and then a piping kit for the 280zx somewhere for around 300-500 total. Thanks for the info.
  13. Does anybody know a a fairly affordable intercooler kit for the 280zxt? One that is already cut, shaped, and measured. I want to run a maximum of 19lbs of boost off a stock turbo and need something to support that. Thanks for your help.
  14. I thought that the controller for the voice was in the dash. I guess I will need to pick that up from the parts car on Saturday. Thanks for the info again. I haven't had a chance yet to play with the tach because I got in some 280z wheels that I am cleaning up. The black/silver wheels will look better on my black Z vs. the gold/silver ones. I'll let you know if that makes the tach and the talking lady work.
  15. Did that wheelie bar actually dig into the track?
  16. Thanks you've been a big help. I'm going to go try that now. The stock wiring harness for the radio is untouched so that shouldn't be a problem. I do have an aftermarket radio in there now but it has a completely seaperate harness that I made that goes straight to the battery and rear speakers.
  17. So the tach wire runs from the - side of the Ign. Coil through the fire wall to what part of the wiring harness? Or does it it have to go straight to the tach itself? My next question was going to be getting the VOICE warning system running. As I understand it it plays through the center or left speaker. Is that correct? I just found out last night that it isn't hooked up. Both of the front ones are disconnected right now.
  18. I might have to change that speed sensor for it to work. Good call. On the harness I have the new one thanks for the info. The guy I bought my dash from had the entire dash completely together in mint condition so all the harnesses were hooked up and there. I just need to figure out what sensors to replace. Thanks for both of your help. That was a lot faster than I thought.
  19. I have a 1981 280zx 2+2 that I swapped the non turbo motor to a turbo motor and now have swapped the anolog dash for a digital 1983 dash. The temperature sensor isn't reading right and the tach isn't turning on. If I read correctly I should replace the sensor for the temperature reading in the thermostat housing but what do I do to make the tach work? Thanks for looking/your help.
