  1. Bah! Give me a bucket of chum, a chainmail suit, and a saddle and I'd ride one of those suckers like seabiscuit.
  2. I know it's been mentioned here before, but I'm really appreciating the looks of this car. Made by an idependent design group, it's supposed to have an extraordinarily rigid frame, 2850 lbs, 1" narrower than a vette. Soo many great sportscar features for a mere $20 grand. Even if it's only gonna be a 4 cylinder, 2006 may put one in my garage...I wonder how long before someone throws in a V8?
  3. Hello everyone, I've got a bit of a stumper so if you're in the mood to help I'd appreciate it. My 327 has a steel 153 tooth flywheel that uses a pilot bushing that is slightly smaller in diameter than the regular sbc size. I tried to find one that fits a year ago with no luck and settled with shaving down the diameter of a standard sbc pilot bushing, it worked fine with no problems. Now I just did the same with my new transmission but thought I'd throw it out to you guys to see what you come up with. Any ideas on what type of application this 153 tooth steel flywheel with a smaller pilot bushing came on? Thanks for the help!
  4. Sorry about not getting back to you, I had company this weekend and got distracted. The club will be open tomorrow, I'll call and get his number.

    Rear end options

Your stock rear end should be fine for that level of power, get some good tires and see how it works for you first.
  6. I will see him this weekend, I know the car isn't going anywhere so consider it yours if it works for you. I'm not sure about the answers you want so I'll just pm you once I get his number.
  7. A buddy of mine from the nightclub I work in has a 1981 280zx, silver, dent in rear, recent valvejob, needs clutch and/or tranny(he's not sure). I saw it maybe a year ago so my memory of the interior is vague. He bought another car and doesn't want cash just a good home, so if anyone is interested let me know.
  8. I thought those cams would be pretty close. You'd definitely benefit from a single plane with that 282 since that dual plane won't meet your needs on the high end. You mentioned a victor junior which is a good choice, I went with a power-plus single plane which is a copy of the super victor but comes polished and cheaper. Grumpy convinced me, I'll never go back to a single plane in a Z. BTW, I'm really thinking about those nitto 275/50/15's for myself, I'd be running them all the time so was wondering how well they perform on the street. Good luck with the fine tuning Terry.
  9. If you don't have much interest in driving the finished product, have you considered building cars for other people? You could earn some dough that way without having to worry about selling it after you're finished, while still enjoying the creative process.

  12. Well, I went with the wcT5 w/ countergear stabilizer. So far it feels good and I particularly like the .63 od instead of the old .73, 80 mph is now under 2,500 rpm. Anyone know how long I need to break this tranny in for?
  13. Keep in mind that a bigger cam isn't always best, Don Manzo ran an 11.1 with 'only' a 230/480 hydraulic cam in his 383 Z. If you are traction limited in your midrange then maybe a bigger cam will help you out. I remember a while back some hotrod mag ran the difference in 1/4 mile times between 4 or so cams from a 262 to a 282(or something like that) in the same car and it surprised me how close they all were in the 1/4 mi. Not trying to discourage you, but it may be splitting hairs. The 383 mod on the other hand you'll feel for sure, you could wait and do it all at once. good luck either way you go.
  14. Thanks everyone for the compliments. The stairs with no rail goes up into the bedroom and believe me I know what you mean about being careful! Steve, from talking to the location scout you must work at channel 10. She wants to bring the producer by tomorrow to have a look, they want to do one day of filming here which is perfect for me so I don't have to relocate or anything like that. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
  15. I drop my car off today and of all things a V8 Z is there for tranny work. Those guys worked on my 327/T5 and did a great job so I'm back, glad to see (whoever you are) that you found these guys because they'll do you right.
  16. Funny story so I thought I'd share, a movie will be filmed here locally by the son of Walter Mathau(sp?) and they want to use a loft for some of the scenes. They heard about our building and so a location scout is comming over on wednesday to have a look. We'll see how it goes, if I'm lucky maybe I can get the Z in there somehow.
  17. Problem solved, thanks for the help!
  18. Matt, you're remembering it wrong...here's a table breaking them down by year. A '74 may have a 3.36, but it would be an R180. 19. Here's the problem: I'm getting juice to the dizzy but I'm not getting any spark. I am 3 months into my HEI so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
  20. I noticed that as well, omitting this possibility will skew your conclusions for sure. No matter how I think it through from the other side, this is where I also wind up. Good luck sorting things out.
  21. Sorry to say it but you don't have a 3.36 R200 in unless someone swapped it for the original. The highly coveted 3.36 R200 came only in a '79 280ZX 2+2 w/4-speed tranny. I can't recall what you've got but should be easy to find out, good luck.
  22. Nope, I'm bettin it'll be an injected 525 caddy stroker. Good luck whichever way you really plan to go Tim.
  23. Yeah, forgot the sticky tire part...I've got my eyes on switching my rears for some nitto 555's in 275/50/15.
