  1. He really didn't make your day, writing you up for 21 mph over the speed limit is bad news in California. 20 mph or over boosts the fine and makes you ineligible for traffic school, at least that's what a cop in Marin told me two years ago when I got my last ticket. Hopefully things have changed, good luck.
  2. Welcome back, read what grumpyvette says in this post and also read his "picking a cam" post that's down a dozen or so posts. Good luck! http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=30289
  3. I'm having the same trouble despite having vent baffles and only running breathers. On the passenger side breather(I don't have a pcv valve) - it likes to spit oil on my headers, which it would probably do in your case too. I was thinking about putting the oil filler plug on the passenger side and running only 1 breather on the driver's side, basically reversing the usual setup. Any problems doing it this way? I haven't done it yet and am curious what others think about only running 1 breather on a 400hp 327.
  4. Thanks for the info, looks like another good alternative.
  5. 9.5 comp or less I'd go with the comp XE268H - 224/230 @ .050 and 477/480 max lift or for 10:1 or higher the XE274H 230/236 and 487/490, both are at 110 ls. That 230/230 with .480 max lift you mentioned is also a good cam.
  6. You haven't seen much of him and that's just how he likes it. This is not to say he isn't busy, as he's had a hand in shaping more policy than any vp in the history of the US. Unlike presidents of the past, insiders have remarked that important policy ideas must go through Cheney's office before leaving the White House.
  7. Ebay is truly amazing, seems like a lot of ship for only $7 mil.
  8. Sounds good Larry, I'm buried in work through this week but I'll be in touch.
  9. I dunno Mike, but I wanted to make sure you saw this T5 as it looks pretty stout the way it's built: http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-5.asp
  10. Thanks for the advise so far everyone! Nic - I guess I'm used to the power and ready for an upgrade. Cole - I have most of the accessories you mentioned. If possible, I'd like to have a look at your Z sometime. fl327 - It'll fit under my scoop with a 4-barrel on top, no need to break my wallet with an exotic carb setup.
  11. http://www.edu.gov.nf.ca/snow/photo.htm Wow, no traction for sure!!!
  12. The expressions on their faces are too perfect as they look around - like they don't know what to make of it or what to say next!
  13. Here's the car that's been blessed with that engine: Here's something else that Rick Dobbertin built(it's seaworthy, of course):
  14. Hello again all, looking at the time involved in swapping my truck 383/Z 327 motors and components plus the price of the flywheel to match the 383 to a T5($320), I started to look at small superchargers as a possible alternative. The new Weiand 144 "teflon" will fit, but $2000 kept me only half interested. I just found out yesterday that a B&M 144 would fit under the scoop on my Z and the price on ebay is usually around $1,000 for a setup. I'm running a 327 with 9-9.5:1 comp. The power is about the same between my 383 and the blown 327 according to DD2000. Any experience or thoughts about these or Weiand blowers would be appreciated.
  15. Here's an engine with one of these plus a couple turbos/nitrous:
  16. We missed out, this would've been awesome in a Z: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33741&item=2453437552#ebayphotohosting

  18. Yahoo news story: "This is not a mechanical robot hero in a Japanese comic book but a prototype rescue robot named T522 Enryu that is unveiled at a new year's annual fire brigades' drill in Kitakyushu, southern Japan, Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004. Co-developed for the last three years by Kitakyushu-based robot making venture company tmsuk, Kitakyushu Fire Department, National Research Institute of Fire and Disaster in Tokyo and Kyoto University, the 3.45-meter(11-foot)-tall, about five-ton robot can be operated manually by a man aboard it as well as remote control and lift heavy objects that weigh up to about one ton with its two arms that move like ones of a human. The developers plan to improve the robot to be used in rescue operations at the actual disaster sites by the endof this year." (AP Photo/Kyodo News) I wonder if they do custom work? Having a Z with pincher claws would be cool...
  19. I had a gripe about this years back. I had an interceptor when Cali went to a mandatory helmet law. My premium didn't go down a bit, athough it stands to reason we should've gotten charged less for insurance.
  20. v. owned, own·ing, owns To have control over: For a time, enemy planes owned the skies. Never underestimate the power of a dictionary.
  21. It's great to see an idea this extreme taking form in such meticulous detail. The lights create totally different accent angles in that rear area. Such an undertaking can mess up the lines but you got it right on the money!
  22. Wow, that's a lotta revvin, has anyone managed to put one in a Z yet?
  23. "Hooker Aerochamber." That's my muffler too, I can't recommend it enough. I did add 2 small moroso spiral flow mufflers in the 2.5 sections (after the headers, before the Y-pipe) and the result is perfect for me, not too loud and not too quiet and sounds nothing like borla or flowmasters.
  24. Based on what Don Manzo just did at the track with his 383Z, I'd say you would do fine with a smaller cam. He also has afr heads but with a hydraulic 480/230@.050 109 lc lunati. With an open diff and slicks he ran an 11.7 and with the new limited slip and tires he just ran an 11.165 @ 122mph!!! Your car will scream either way you go, you would have a more streetable car IMO going down a notch. P.S. Your 9.5 compression may be a problem with the bigger cam.
