Are you talking about stock springs and shocks? Or are you talking about which strut should you use 240z vs. 280z? Just trying to understand better.
You might want the 280z stub axles since they are stronger, as for reusing stock components... I would personally just use after market stuff unless you know the shocks and springs are fresh. Not sure if that was your question...
No im speaking about on msa. You can buy either springs for a 9/74-78 280z or springs for a 70-8/74 240z. I have a 8/74 260z. Its has a full 280z r200 rear end in it recently installed. What combination of struts and springs should i purchase? I have figured that because of the extra weight that i should buy both 280z struts and springs. Will this fit? Also, what is the difference between the arizona z car springs and struts vs the, say, springs and struts msa sells. Tokico illumina and eibach springs vs an arizona z car set up. Which provides better handling? Differences? Similarities?

I know i am reviving an old thread but i have a question on this subject. I have a 260z, early 74, I am planning on putting a turbo engine in it and i have already installed an r200 rear diff. Should i get 280z struts and coils because of the added weight? Or should i get 240z struts and 280z coils? Ideas? Im looking for the best decision concerning optimum handling.

Or European...
Or Austrailian...
Most likely japanese though because aren't datsun's japenese made... and monza... :wink:comeon that just sounds japanese. Haha.

Driftn280zxt,
Love the drawing! Keep it coming!
Maybe you could post it in the main drawings thread I had going a while back?
It was rumored that this car was AWD because of the dyno it is on...
But if you look at the strut through the headlight hole and the centerline of the wheel it probably can't be AWD. stock strut?
Love the bodywork though. Brings some good ideas into play.
Also its probably a japanese car because the steering wheel is on the right side.

So is this project going to be attempted or has it died?
-
Hahha i never payed that close attention. They only film them shifting and not downshifting. So it seems they have more gears than they really have. Ha ill be thinking about that when i wartch the 4th one lol.
-
So this project is still in progress?
-
^same here. If im interested in the movie, ill watch it. Fast and the furious isnt too bad of a movie for an action movie. People into more of a dramatic movie probably wouldnt perfer this movie. Everyone has different "taste" in movie genres. And the 16 gears? I didnt understand this one

haha idk if it would smoke a ferrari. id like to say yes but idk. Ill tell u. right now this thing is nasty fast and scares the ♥♥♥♥ out of me, and its still having computer issues (which will be solved this weekend, and ill possibly have dyno numbers as well.). so we will see once i get this thing dialed in.
That will prob have to depend on the ferrari you race. You have a power to weight advantage even tho some might have a v12. But if your going with one of the lighter bigger engined ones.... hahhha gl. Did they tell you it was gonna be a RACE scene or did they just say it was a scene? mmhmm
-
Maybe it will be a role similar in the 1st movie where the supra pulls up next to the ferrari. A "sorta" main role like that. The ferrari was probably owned by the driver.
-
You probably should at least watch the first one, the new one is suppose to tie directly into the first one, charactors and plot. I dont think 2 and 3 are gonna be related to the 4th.
-
So you really did get in? Wow. Your car is gonna be famous after this. The s30's will probably be recognized more too.
-
Hey wait a sec, when was that fast and furious' fault?
I'm not like a huge fan of the movies or anything, but the AE86 prices are nearly 100% caused by initial D, a huge spark of the current USA drift craze.
I'm hoping the wangan anime doesn't catch on. Could have the same effect on the S30.
Drift craze? sorta i guess. I would call it JDM craze. But fast and the furious has some fault in it... but not all.
-
Alright ill be looking forward to some pics.
-
The grated shifter should at least be given a chance...
-
I think it would be a good think to have s30's get alot more recognition. But as mopar was saying, it is gonna get more expensive. The s30's are already hard to find, with a new flair in popularity it could make them impossible to find, like a nissan skyline. As long as they don't show people how to rice out a Z that would definitely be sweet!but on the other hand, like mopar says...Its pretty darn hard to find a $250 dollar ae86 anymore... Don't want that to happen to Z's

I've heard that Aziza Z has them interested in his car....
Woah! are you serious? Man, i hope he gets in on this.
-
I really like the gated shifter idea. Maybe I can start to take some measurements on my 5speed and make a prototype in a few weeks.
I like the idea also and would be interested in it if it was to be made.

Has anyone in the Los Angeles are heard about this? They're making a new fast and the furious and they're looking for cars to be in the movie. Seems like a quick way for someones car to get famous...
-
at first glance it reminded me of the type 3 only much more modest
To me it looks like a "smoothed" version of the msa 3. I wonder how it would look installed....

My car is a 280ZX, but close enough...I actually think the S30 has more room to plumb an intercooler than the S130.
I designed my Intercooler on AutoCAD and had my buddy Corky Bell build it for me. Needless to say it is the largest intercooler I could squeeze in there and its designed specifcially for the nose of the car.
And I am using this spoiler:
If that helps you any.
Yasin
How much did it cost to have it made? Whats its efficiency?

This airdam is off zfiberglass.com. http://www.zfiberglass.com/imagelib/sitebuilder/misc/show_image.html?linkedwidth=actual&linkpath=http://zfiberglass.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/airdamscraper2roundducts.jpg&target=tlx_new&title=Z%20'scraper'%20air%20dam%20with%202%20large%20round%20ducts
It is a unique style. I was curious if anyone has used this airdam or if it has been sighted in any pics?
-
Are you interested in just the style, or are you more concerned about how well it will work?
Both.

Heres another idea of intercooler placement with the msa 3 body kit. Any member on here done something very similar? Feedback/comments on both?
intercooler placement-changed
headlight bucket lines-smoothed
bumper-smoothed
