  1. Not to hijack your thread, but if anyone has more than one i need one too.
  2. Well this RB20 build is officially out. Next August I will be deployed to Okinawa Japan and maybe I can pick up a few RB26's instead:biggrin:.
  3. The head seems to be in good shape other than the rust on the cams from sitting for a while I will post pics later. Let me know if anybody is interested in any of this s**t I would let it go for pretty much anything plus shipping if anybody needs something that wasn't damaged.
  4. just like to let everyone to know that i just got my RB26 valve covers in the mail from stealth-z and they bolted right up on the RB20.
  5. Well I got the engine from JTaylor on here for some carbs and a hood and it did not look that bad with all the engine parts on it. John said he really didn't know anything about it other than it was purchased from someone else and stored at his house. So I wasn't expecting much but this really sucks. Oh well at least I did not drop a couple grand into like i was planning.
  6. only 5 missing main bearings (found in oil pan with a nice oil/water mixture), 1 bent rod, and 1 busted cylinder so far ( before i gave up for the night)
  7. I recently came across an RB20DET and this is what I have been planning as my powerplant but look what i ran into during disassembly.
  8. People get flamed for this all the time every new guy comes in here and ask the exact same thing. Just search and you will find pretty much everything you need for this swap. There is actually a sticky on the RB swap setup. Good luck and take lots of pictures to post when your complete.
  9. Thanks for the replies guys! Has anyone purchased a after market harmonic/vibration damper? If so where did you get it and how much?
  10. currently am in search of RB20DET performance parts and will post links as soon as I can. If anyone knows where to finf the following parts please post? Vibration Damper-? Light weight flywheel-? Rear sump oil pan-? Valves-? Exhaust Manifold-? Note: I have found some of these products but I am still searching for better parts.
  11. So with factory RB26DETT crank and rods with after market forged pistons. What do you think the RB20 can handle comfortably?
  12. From the pictures it looks like with a different plenum and a little fab it would be possible. Unless the bolts dont match up, DO THEY? Will the RB26 valve covers seal the RB20 head? Thanks for the help.
  13. I know that the order of engines that can handle the most power on factory internals is. RB26DETT- 600hp RB30ET- 500hp RB25DET- 450-500hp RB20DET- 300-400hp Even though some of the engines are larger thus able to create more power. Is the reason that the factory RB20DET can only handle 300-400hp is because it's internals are not as strong as the RB26 or RB25?
  14. Of the Rb series engines are the heads all the same dimensions? Would the valve covers, cam gear cover and the plug wire cover be inter-changable between each of the engines. For example would the valve covers from an RB26 fit on the RB20?
  15. That is so beautiful I could cry! LOL
  16. I have found that with the Rb20det build up there are a few different ways to go. Using the RB20 block. 1. RB24DET= RB26 crank & rods + 4AGZE 81.5mm pistons 2. RB22DET= RB25 crank & rods + 80 mm bore 3. RB22DET= RB20 crank & rods + 82mm bore HYBRID MOTOR 4.RB24S= Rb25 block + RB30E head + RB20 crank & rods This is suppose to be a much higher revving engine do to the smaller stroke. This engine is suppose to have alot of torque to. If any of my information is incorret please feel free to correct me. Thanks, Donald
  17. I have been searching for info on the RB20DET built to a RB24DET with the RB26 crank and bored out to 81-82mm. That seems to be all the info i can find. Is there some one on here who has done this and got great results? What kind of power are you making at the wheels? What turbo setup did you go with?
  18. I don't know much about my 240Z's history other than i bought her from a guy who bought her from a guy that did some unusual engineering to her. I got her off Ebay for $1300.00 not to bad I guess, I drove her around for about six months before i left on deployment. The only problems we had were the carbs gave which gave us some tough battles. When i returned I bought a house and a new car (Honda Fit) so she went to the garage where i began the tear down process. The only problems i ran into were the usual, you know floor pans and framerails which i need to replace. It's ok though i plan on doing a complete rebuild from the ground up. I am thinking RB26DETT or RB26DET around 500 WHP and a 50 shot of nitrous. I will be going for a show stopping domestic killing machine. The color will be a surprise! I will update when ever i get the chance.
  19. Thanks pretty sweet color, just not what I expected.
  20. so these rb30 blocks are pretty easy to find?
  21. EY0-Silica Breath skyline I have been searching and I have found every skyline color but this one. Just curious has to how it looks. THanks.
  22. I have been researhing this engine for a while and I am in love with it:-). It is one of my main engine choices for my 240z. What i would like to know is that these engines with out tranny's are costing any where from $3600.00-$7000.00 for factory engines. Would it make more since to buy a N1 block and just build an nearly indestructable engine that to take the chances with a used engine? Or would the build up take you way past average used price? Also i read somewhere here that the N1 block is not cast iron but did not say what or how it is made does some one know this? Other than stronger block, water passages, and crank fix what are some of the differences between the blocks? And thanks again for everyones help.
  23. Does anyone know the differences between the generations of sr20 heads. I need to know like port sizes valve sizes and air flow. apreciate the help guys.
