  1. It appears everytime i post something, i figure how to make it work !!! anyway, found a good article on how to use easytherm http://www.extraefi.co.uk/software/Temp_Sensor_Instructions.pdf I tried it and this time i was able to flash my MS without messing things, the only down side is that my temp readings on the head sensor still seem out of place, been idling for two minutes and it shows temps at 130F...(seems too high, but i could be wrong) Its getting late so ill call it a night, tomorrow ill check the resistance when cold and see if it falls within the curve. Tomorrow ill set timing, finalize idle and sensors, and if all goes well...take her for a spin later.
  2. I got it running. I gave up on the IGBT trigger and used the GM HEI instead (using fidle). Car fired right up...but could not maintain idle for long. To fix this, i set my trigger angle to 60 degrees with 0 addition. The car now starts up on the first crank . I now need to fix the "rich condition"...my wideband (connected to MS) reads 10.0 when idling. I also need to figure out how to use easytherm to set my Head sensor and air temp sensor... I input the temp info, generate the inc files, and copy them to my car folder.. I then hit the "download to megasquirt" button and it start programing and finishes with no errors (i do jump the boot terminals). My MS restarts, but i cant communicate with it again so am forced to reflash it using the flash utility that comes with megatune2.2. Can anyone provide help on how to properly flash my MS unit with the correct 280zxt head sensor? Thanks
  3. Ok guys, I need your help on this one. As the title says, I have no spark. I am sure I have fuel…but no spark, so car will not start. My setting. L28et with 82 distributer. (running just fine with stock ecu) (77 280Z) MS1 with MS1/Extra rev 029y4 installed (bought used from a board member) Relay board with all connections as per www.diyautotune.com I have made the modification to enable me to use the stock coil (followed www.diyautotune.com instructions, and also the megasquirt MS1-extra manual for single coil ignition.) For “code_Variant†am running MSNS-EXTRA i've got it hooked uu like this.. manuals/MS_Extra_Hardware_Manual_files/v3one-coil.gif For timing: -used mobythevan approach…set to BTDC, moved back crank so notch on dampner was approximately on 60⁰ (near oil pump line)…then moved the distributer until the middle led (with has been set to IQR trigger, turned on…oh fuel pump also turns on!!). I cannot fine tune my timing because I have no spark..hence timing gun will not trigger. My “Engine RPM†reads about 230 RPM with cranking. When cranking, the middle LED blinks, but the first ( LED 17) doesn’t…its always off. My settings are as shown below. I have checked and rechecked my connections…FP runs, injectors open, MS is always powered on, internal mods have been rechecked,….yet no spark…am I missing something. I have attached my MSQ file as well as pics of my setting. Thanks in advance. settings pics.zip 280zxt_200905241314.zip
  4. i also did the same exact repair on my car...i found it easier to get a rust free section from a donor car..(just post in the wanted section). Fabricate the flat section and use the curvy section from the donated parts car. Ill post pics or PM you later. This made it so much easier.
  5. IF you have a welder + Patients + time, you can easily make one yourself and save some money. Just remember to buy extra pieces to cover those Ops! moments.. ( I just build one myself for the first time, and i will never pay anyone to do it..if possible) Best of luck.
  6. Very nice work, I just build a 2.5" for my car and that was a major pain... Anyway, i was just wondering what Throttle body your running? Thanks
  7. Ok, I have tried searching but couldn't find an answer. Well, i am swapping a 82 280zxt drivetrain(engine, tranny, diff) into my 77 auto. All was going well until i noticed that the tranny appears to be "short". I just wanted to check if this was normal and i have to cut into the tranny tunnel to make it fit. Everything else bolts up ( engine mounts and tranny mounts) but as the pics below show, i cant fit the shifter. Please advice.
  8. Keep us updated, ill be cleaning up my rear end too!!
  9. Very nice progress your making there....what color are you going to paint the car?
  10. The stuff you’re referring to is primarily used for sound dampening and insulation. I just did the same thing to my car, and there numerous post on here on how to remove it. Just search “ sound dampening”. I had the best results using a "Pneumatic scraper" http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=95826. It worked wonder for me.
  11. Thanks Roost, i have already come to the realization that the easiest way to do this is replace the whole section. I am currently looking for rust free front clips that i can simply replace mine with. Ill keep you posted on the progress.
  12. Hello all, Please refer to my webpage for pictures http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeyavnq/zbee2/id6.html I just wanted to ask for some advice. Am sure this is not the first car to rust at this area, and was wondering what some of you have done. My plans were to totally cut out the rust and replace the metal, but that is turning out to be a headache especially since i don’t have all the metal working equipment. Trying to duplicate the tube like structure that runs along the side is harder than it looks. P.s, if you want to see the rest of the car, please check out my website at http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeyavnq/zbee2/ Thanks in advance.
  13. Might you have more pictures? that’s the exact paint schema i want to go with....please post more pics....or PM me with them...thanks in advance.
  14. AM currently fighting the same rust spots...my hing area looks identical to yours but my battery box isnt as bad...check out my site at http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeyavnq/zbee/index.html ...i might just copy your handy work there.
