  1. I'm hoping that's what's going to happen. I'll find out in a week or two. I'm pretty much all ready to connect the motor to the trans, then drop it in! The metal on the mounts was pretty thick so I was able to turn up the heat and weld them quickly before the high temps soaked into the poly. Didn't really have a problem at all. I finally got all the brake lines done! So I am able to bolt the wheels on the car now. Looks CRAZY with the tube frame, and giant tires all around. I wanna drive this thing soo bad!!!
  2. Been a while since an update. but I've gotten a whole lot done! Although it doesn't look like much. All the work I've been doing is very tedious, and hard. Fitting these aluminum panels is a HUGE pain in the ass. Have to drill hundreds of holes and line everything up, silicon, then rivet it all together. So with the panel layed in place you mark it, remove it, and drill it, then install it, and drill the holes through the frame, then remove it and clean the debris, then install it again for riveting. And of course it never lines up perfectly after removing it... OY! Its late.... Here are some pics. I got the engine pretty much all buttoned up and ready to go. Still waiting on a few things like starter, water pump, and alternator. I'm using a set of poly Ford 4.6L mounts. Modified them to fit on the 5.3L. I got all the pedals installed, I had to redrill the place that they provide with the kit. When everything was installed with the original holes, Some other holes didn't line up at all. Great QC! But after a few modifications I was able to get it all worked out. After getting a bunch of the aluminum paneling installed, its really starting to look like a car now. Pretty Exciting!!! I cant wait to drive this thing around the neighborhood in its "frame" form, with open exhaust. Its REALLY going to piss some people off!! Haha. Time for bed!
  3. I actually did adjust the coils a little bit on their brackets, I remember it being a HUGE pain to get the wires through there. I also used a heat wrap around the outside of all the wires. I think I eventually switch to a set of custom wires that all routed towards the back of the head and plugged into the spark plugs from the bottom side.
  4. I'm dead serious too! Having to walk past the car every time I get home from work and not be able to work on it is torture.
  5. Got lots more done to the car this weekend! Actually looks like I've accomplished something this time. Was able to get the rear end installed up in the car. And the rear shocks / springs installed as well. Out of the 3 available rear end options, I chose to go with the 4 link. Other options were a 3 link with pan hard rod, and independent. Independent would be cool, but costs significantly more. And I was worried that the 3 link wouldn't be a strong enough set up for what I plan to do with the car. I also got the steering shaft installed, and was able to start riveting some of the aluminum paneling into place. This coming weekend I've got 3 days off of work, but unfortunately I have to spend them on vacation in Las Vegas. Oh well, here's some pics!
  6. They are factory mustang brakes. 11" rotor. Probably the best brakes I've ever had on any of my race cars. Sad huh? Hahah
  7. Been working on the car for a little bit here and there this week after getting home from work. Pretty much was only able to get the front brake components installed. Also, I picked up a used engine harness and have been "re-working" it a bunch at work. Not too many update pics this time... Awwwwwww!!!
  8. Ya man! The Z is all gone. Actually ended up getting shipped to Japan believe it or not. Which is another crazy story. Well I'm actually going to be posting every picture of the car that I take in this thread, so better subscribe if you wanna see the entire thing. So far, things are going slow. But it'll come together.
  9. No ABS, I think the supplied hub is a ABS / Non-ABS hub. One size fits all kind of thing.
  10. Made a bit of progress on the car this weekend. Now I'm pooped!! For starters, I was able to get the car on some harbor freight dolly's and pushed onto the driveway. Once I had the car on the driveway I was able to remove the body off the of the frame. And put it on the side of the house for storage. What a pain in the ass! I can't express to you how horrified I was removing this thing. Have to stretch the front outward the start lifting up, trying not to snag on anything, meanwhile you're hearing all the creeks / cracks / snaps from the fiber glass body. There was even a spot I noticed on the Gel coat that had cracked. Should be okay, since it will all be sanded down before painting anyways. Well here are some pics of that nightmare: So after body removal, its time to start installing some parts onto the frame, first I started with the control arms, Spindles, Hubs, shocks / springs, and steering rack. The hardest part about all this is going through the box's and bags trying to find the correct nuts / bolts for the part you're putting on the car, and the directions aren't exactly clear about which box you go into to get said bolt. Oh well... I guess its all part of the fun. http://home.tiora.net/davidc/Factory%20Five/Daytona%20Coupe/Suspension%20%26%20Steering/DSCN2942.JPG
  11. Cool man, Thanks! I'm excited to get started with the thing. I currently have not even touched the car at all since I got it last Sat. I have to get the car out onto the driveway in order to have enough room to pull the body off and store it. THEN I'll start with installing everything on it. I'm also waiting on a few back ordered parts that I need to put the front suspension on. no suspension = no wheels = no rolling = no driveway = no body coming off. So I'm kind of in a waiting stage at the moment.
  12. Well, I've actually got a 5.3 long block that I had bought as a spare for my Datsun. So now, its going to make its way into the Coupe. N/A for starters. We'll see what happens after I get bored without boost.
  13. Well... That might just have to be another secret until the time comes.
  14. Right, The GTM is a one price, kit. (no basic vs. complete) Buy the kit and you get 8 boxes with it. Rest of the stuff comes from the C5. My kit was a complete, came with 23 box's. Basically all I have to provide is engine / trans, Rear end w/ brakes, wheels / tires, and bodywork / paint. Everything else including every nut / bolt is included. I just finished doing my inventory count on everything, and I am VERY impressed with the packaging, and the detail that went into getting this kit dialed in. For the money, I think its a steal for what you're getting.
  15. Haha, ya you almost had it right on the money. I was so torn between the coupe and the cobra. Figured the coupe might get away with a little more racing, since its got a roof. I also love the whole front end coming up when its time to work on it. I would like to go take a tour of that place someday. Looks awesome!
  16. Okay okay, The wait is over! So yesterday about 4pm I get a call from the driver, "Hey man, are you excited yet??" Hell ya I'm excited! "Cool, cuz I'm about 4 miles from your house." So 10 minutes later my buddies and I are all standing in the drive way, and here is what turns the corner! So of course I'm pooping my pants at this point, Its finally here!!! So once we get the car off the truck, its placed on a dolly and rolled into the garage, and placed on 4 jack stands. Along with the car, I've also got a windshield glass, hatch glass, 2 door, and 23 boxes full of goodies. Once the driver leaves, I don't hesitate to start opening them up and doing inventory. There is a HUGE check list of each box and its contents, down to every nut / bolt / washer. So I start going one by one and checking stuff off the list. On Friday my wheels came in and before the day was over, I mounted my tires up. Tires are a 315-35-17 in the rear, and 255-45-17 in the front. So even after staying up until 2am last night going through boxes and checking stuff off the list, I've still got a few more to go. This has got to be the coolest thing I have ever had delivered to my house!!! See, I told you it wasn't a cobra. Its the Type65 Coupe.
  17. my garage went from empty, to a frame, 2 sections of body, 2 doors, racing seats, and 23 box's of early Christmas opening fun!!! I think I'm going to pull an all nighter. Getoff - I love you too.
  18. Trust me, I am more anxious for the updates then you are.
  19. Can't say yet.... You will all see in a matter of a few days.
  20. I will post pics of it as soon as it arrives, as well as the entire build. Ford fanatics beware, you might not like what you're about to see. BTW, NO I am not building a Cobra kit car.

  23. I have no idea what you are talking about... I don't know if I'll be allowed to make a build thread in here, since I'm Mr. Z-no-more but I would if no one really minded. The big truck is scheduled to make its delivery on this Saturday October 22nd!!! Wahoo!!!! Can't wait!
