  1. These are just my thoughts and nothing more. Use/adhere at your own risk. I think people often confuse the notion of smog exempt cars. Cars < 75' years are smog exempt from registration purposes. If a cop really wanted to be an ******* and you deserved it, he can still send you to the ref. If i recall correctly, you may also swap a motor from the same family of cars to an older car of the same family as long as the smog equipment is also transferred over. This brings up the question of whether a RB can be swapped into your nissan _______. G&K did the original smog modifications to meet CARB standards, so technically the RB should be registered for use in the US. Although, gtr's are AWD and only require a sniffer test. I get mixed reviews of state ref's. Some are pricks, some are relaxed, some are helpful, etc. I think if you actually took the time to do things right and legitimately from the get go, getting advice from a willing ref, his help can go a long way.
  2. Hey I want ILSoju stickar

  3. that has to be one of the best feelings. figuring out the bug.
  4. Freaking sick! Another 2j 240 in California. You should check out supraforums, they often have a few aem ems for sale. Everyone is going gen2 aem and selling their old one. I swiped an 2jzge NA aem ems for $900. Just need to get a MAP sensor and a AIT sensor.
  5. I have a feeling the 2j 240 is going to get a awd transplant
  6. Thanks for taking the time for the help guys! Any and all comments are welcome to help the newbie. Not sure what wire im using, nor flux or gas, but i prefer the innershield wire a lot more than the copper one it came with. The innershield wire is very brittle compared to the copper wire. With the innershield, the penetration is far superior, practically eats the metal. Practicing lines on a 10 gauge metal, you can clearly see how hot it gets from the back side of the peice. The regular copper wire wouldnt even get it hot enough and just clump up. I use c25 mix from my local airgas. What i do, under estimate the wire feed and adjust the "penetration" with the voltage. If the weld starts to clump, i would raise the voltage and if it keeps blowing through, decrease the voltage and slightly increase wire speed. Definately agree with you. When i weld a thicker metal to that from the Z, i start with high voltage and low wire speed and start with the thicker metal. Get it hot, then i would have my partner or whomever on hand, lower the voltage and move the weld pool into the thinner Z metal. works like a charm for me.
  7. Thanks! I bought a lincoln 140c as i only had 110 outlets. Will try to clean the weld area before welding.
  8. Your car was a real head turner! Its not everyday that you see an R32, ESPECIALLY in Cali. Too bad you're selling it!

But hopefully I'll see you around in your Z.

  9. I was wondering if you may critique my welding. If you may tell me if its worth what im doing(stitch welding). I think it's better than nothing. Any and all comments welcome, Thanks!
  10. Yea, I want to just hang out check out what's up with the Z's. Either way, you're building one proper as for me, I'm jsut daily driving and doing little stuff here and there..

Hahah yea, he said he'll get a 34 before he dies. LOL

I have the 2.8L fuel injected mated to 5 spd, CAI, Ansa Exhaust, dropped, front air dam, 240 front bumper.

  11. Formula D?? CAn I come by and check out your Z sometime? I'm in Glendale a lot..

oh, and Jason asks how much he'd have to pay to drive your 32. haha

  12. WOwzers..cause I know from your blog you got one under major construction, but Jason saw a black? one with jdm mirrors n errthang.. Damn i need those s30 fender mirrors too... -_-

So what do you think about this Sat? I'm trying to get more Glendale heads to go along with some Raceline heads..

  13. The stock gtr intercoolers are good up to 600hp. Again, r34 intercoolers being a little more efficient. You guys should do a very simple mod that divides the y pipe on the stock piping. Pick up response and power. Heres mine.
  14. how many Z's do you have?

  15. Great results! Power seems a little high for 1bar but right. r34 turbos are slightly larger than 32,33 turbos. Having a fresh tight motor also probably helped. Dont believe you can use r34 cams on r32-33 ecu's as they have different CAS and pinout...
  16. Yea, exactly. NElson - MazeDatsun. Yea you should go. Angelest Creat Cruise, then BBQ at BrookSide Park in Pas. Not sure exactly where that is but yea. Its July 11th this Sat.

The orange Z is pretty sweet along with a Rebello tuned 3.2L dark aston martin green Z this older guy owns.

  17. So, it's not running yet? :/ you should still come. Bring the 32 *droool*

Man you're building youre Z the proper way... you should help me with mine. Just sucks cause it's my daily.

  18. Yea, Coreano.. I hang out with Harold too, sam not as much being in Philly and all...LOL that something Jason would say..

LOL I heard a story that you would use those toy robot arms for drive-thrus - GENIUS

yea i'm just about to check your Z blog out :]

Oh there's an Nostalgic Japanese Car cruise next This saturday..I went to the last one and it was chill, a lotta Z's and Truenos, and a ol school GTR...And this time there's going to be a BBq after..

  19. Not sure if i can move it back any further. Its how i placed the beta crossmember cross member to place the engine maybe an 1" from the fire wall. I didnt remove any of the tranny tunnel "ears" and its jacked all the way up. The tranny is really heavy and almost dropped it a 1 or 2 times jacking it by myself, but if you really want, ill try it again and see how far back i can tuck it. let me know if u need it done. I searched the cyrus threads but hate how all the pics are down or removed. Would of loved to see the progress as the work was done but that would be too perfect... r154 vs getrag....
  20. Well, just fyi for you guys but it seems that the 6spd transmission from the 93+ supra v160 getrag seems to fit under the stock transmission tunnel. I didnt attach it to the motor and try it yet but rough test fitting seems to fitting. pic from the firewall looking down...
  21. hahaha.... I didnt do crap but glad some one could get their Z up and going. Congrats on the sick build!
  22. Hey, I've been to your house a couple times, you had an R33. I remember you turned it on, but wasn't running right at the time or something(either way it was awesome sweeing a running real life R33). I heard you have a Z! I kick it with like RSX/Integra Jason, know Naz, and I saw your R32 roll into JAck one time it was sick. Wonder how'd you pay and pick up at the window though

  23. Instead of blocking the ends off, i would of added a oil heat exchanger. Two if you want to be symmetrical.
  24. cant wait for the dyno vids and the highway pulls now...
