  1. I'm trying to decide which lightweight flywheel to choose for my L28ET. I did some searching, and came up with the following brands: SPEC, Clutch Masters, RPS, and Fidanza. Does anyone have any of these flywheels installed who can give me some feedback on their products? I have a Fidanza flywheel in my MR2 and I really like it but it's not the same engine or layout. Right now I am leaning towards them strictly based on price.

  2. Hey guys, I'm trying to do an L28ET (w/ P90A head) swap into my '73 240Z. I'm on a tight budget because I'm saving up for a Z32 tranny and all the necessary swap parts. I read here (http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm) that the L26 cam is the largest stock L-series camshaft. Well it just so happens that my Z has an L26 in it currently; hurray! I have to double check the head code to confirm, but I was thinking of putting that camshaft into my L28ET before installing it into the car. I assume this isn't a drop-in affair. What would I have to do to make this work? Does timing come into play?

  3. Hey all,

I am interested in swapping a manual Z32 transmission into my S30. I've tried searching for the gear ratios for the transmissions but haven't had much luck. I guess I'm trying to find the one with the tallest gears since I'm aiming for top speed (obviously the differential/final drive ratio will come into play here; I think I have an R200 in my car but I haven't cracked the pumpkin open to check. All I know is that the previous owner installed an LSD). Is there a list somewhere that shows the ratios of the different transmissions, between n/a and turbo, and if there were any differences between the years?

  4. I'm gonna quote Dave Coleman who writes for Sport Compact Car:

"Here's your answer in only three words: buy a Miata. You, my friend, need to face some hard facts. First, you can't drive. You have no business in a Z until you've learned some skills in something balanced, rear-drive and underpowered."

I'm making my lil' bro buy a Miata as his first car. They're cheap, good on gas, parts are cheap, and so many people own them that there's tons of help and resources available. There's even a race series devoted strictly to Miatas. It is the ultimate entry level sports car IMO. I only wish it could've been my first car. The only other car I can recommend is a first generation Toyota MR2, which is similar to a Miata, but less popular and harder to work on.

Oh, and my only other advice is don't spend money on mods! Save cash for repairs because you'll need to make them, and if you want to be good, go to racing school. $4,000 spent on racing school will make you faster than if you drop $4,000 into your car.
