  1. Ron, looks like your looking at a nice car. However, be aware some of the "BRE" parts that you are referring to are not BRE parts. For instance Brock Racing Enterprizes did not use a dual oil filter, (Bob sharp did though). 1 to 1 ratio trannies are common and are easy to determine with the patern of the gears up left is reverse, down to first, up center for second, and on from there. "rally" transmissions are very rare and NOT good gears for the street, you might have a med close or ultra close ratio trans. BRE cars did use a 6 into 2 Stahl header...oh and you might want to verify the year of the car too. To my knowledge there were no 240Z's manufactured in 74. Just kind of an FYI, I hope this helps
  2. PDK Fabrication: Hi guys, here is your link to PDK. Call Mark. pdkfabrication@cox.net or Call us at 760-724-0144
  3. Guys, I guess i have been out of the loop a bit lately sorry bout that. PDK Fabrication was doing the CF Dashes and Fiberglass dashes, well quite frankly there was not enough interest...We went to the trouble to build up both products and cart them around to a few local shows and everyone that looked at them thought they were cool, but alas no buyers. So I am the sole owner of our original fiberglass dash, and I don't see us looking at any additional unless we can see a bulk order of 10 or more. So rally 10 friends that want one too and email me...
  4. An additional thought...the top of your strut towers twist under heavy load, most of the sections of your firewall are very flimsy, and if you dont tie in the section through where your sway bar is eventually you will crack your frame rails. So you might want to look at this type of solution... http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1229&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500
  5. Mike that is the best compliment you could give us. Thanks....I will talk to the guys at PDK, it's up to them. Hey have you checked out our triangulated front strut bar set up? I am wondering how that would work with your suspension upgrades. Ron Hey I would like to talk to you off line about your experiences with Z sport magazine
  6. good questions all here are your responses: Rick: sorry you got sticker shock, but the issue here is that the Carbon dash is alot more work to lay up because each of the locations where the guages go have to be layed up separately then flange molded into the final dash. It's well over twice the time to make the carbon fiber dash vs the fiberglass dash. hey a carbon hood would cost over $500...if it is too much we always have the fiberglass, it is cool too. If you are looking for a perfect original dash i can recomend a few places to get one. If your looking for a dash that will never crack let me know. Tim: we can do a colored gel coat let me know what color dash you would like. Katman: I agree, but ut is perfect for anyone who wants to run there z in several vintage classes and retain the factory look with a weight savings. As far as fit and finnish, IT IS trimmed out to the final diamentions. Our dash bolts up to the factory location, and it would be possible to remount all the factory equipment into it, your on your own for the glove box though..glad you like it. Mike: thanks, the mold has been very difficult to create!!! I am sure you know first hand how difficult the market is for Datsun Z parts. This is NOT a money making adventure. If I wanted to make money we would be making honda parts, not parts for a 30 year old Z car... Thanks, John... RB26Z: no install pictures yet we are looking at an article in Z sport magazine with install information. It should fit, but I don't have a 260 to verify this. 240Z Turbo, it's not the materials, it's the LABOR to make the part. For you guys who are willing spend the money to have something very unique for your Z car the carbon fiber dash is one of those items. 240turbo, sometimes you got to pay to play. Glad you like it...though. Drax240Z: your correct about the mold. unfortunately the CF dashs will be a limited run, I suspect 10 of the carbon ones total. I doubt that we will go below $650...To build this dash from scratch would cost well over $2000 in labor for the flanged mold alone.... DAW-the dash will look faster?!?! To all: the CF dash is an 8 section mold in order to look correct, vs. the fiberglass which is a one piece mold. The guys at PDK Fabrication have really worked hard to create cool Z parts at great expense to them...both in time and effort. Remember this when you order your parts.... Ron
  7. The Dash is a copy of the 72 240z dash, it is not a dash cap, it is designed for aftermaket gauges only, there is no glove box. It mounts to the factory bracketing for the dash...hope this helps! Ron
  8. see enclosed link & photos for front strut braces http://www.240z.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1184
  9. Photo link below will show you our prototype. PDK Fabrication now offers Carbon Fiber Datsun Z Dashes. Weighing less than 3 lbs and set up to install aftermarket gauges. Please forward all inquires to PDK Fabrication: pdkracing@cox.net or Mark at 760-724-0144 Both Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass available. http://www.240z.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1820 Please visit all of our photos.
  10. Nice looking strut bar, but ineffective and very expensive to manufacture... You may want to consider our solution... http://www.240z.org/photopost/index.php?user=932&thumb=1&cat=500 http://www.240z.org/photopost/index.php?photo=1184 Ron
  11. fuel safe offers their own sender for gm and ford automobiles....the foam in your fuel cell should last 10 years. Installation of the sender is a bit more of a trick, I suggest you should contact the guys at fuel safe for the specific location of installation.
  12. SHOCK96, sorry no diagrams available, but think of it this way: all of the twisting of the chassis is the effect of two locations in working in oposite directions...the front suspension (as it loads up going around a turn)and the sway bar which is working against the front suspension to keep the chassis level...over time these forces will tear the frame rail or strip the bolt inserts for the sway bar...by tieing the strut tower and the sway bar link together we eliminate the stress to the frame rail by coupling these units together...All you have to do is look at older datsun race cars where oversized swaybars have destroyed the front frame rails and ripped apart radiators.... I hope this helps...
  13. zr8ted, Our brace mounts just in front of those braces you are speaking of.... Ron
  14. blueovalZ, that is exactly what we did two tubes are attached to the bottom plate running verticaly through the frame rail. If you look at the photo with the entire brace #1184 (link listed above) you will see this lower section of the mount. I will also add additional photos of this section to clarify...
  15. Katman, soundslike you'll need some bandwidth for those calculations.....Let us know what you come up with... John C Ask you buddy who used to work for NPTI if he knows Carl Azevedo.... I think we are missing a key point, no other "manufactured" bar offers a tie on to & through the frame rails to the front sway bar. this link is what adds a large amount of stability strength to this design by transfering that energy away from the frame rails and to our assembly and strut tower, thus stiffening the entire front subframe.
  16. more photos: http://www.240z.org/photopost/index.php?user=932&thumb=1&cat=500 As I Expand on Katman's comments: If you take into account that the center section works as a triagulated section then you have two small triangles supporting one large central triangle preventing lateral as well as twisting movement of a 30+ year old chassis. Katman we are always looking to make this product better. Got an idea, send it to me....
  17. james nice to hear from you! katman you are very knowlegable but incorrect about the bracing at the bulkhead, pull your cowl off to verify bracing back from the firewall. the difficulty is in mounting any brace to the center of the firewall because of the factory hood latch. Top End has tried, but does not support their product to the factory bracing built into the firewall, nor does it support the tie into the way bar. Most importantly, this bar picks up the twisting energy of an oversized sway bar-something most of us have, and transfers that energy to the triangulated assembly.... Having the prototype of this bar and driving the car extensively I can say that it works well, and does what is claimed. I DO NOT make a profit from the sale of this bar nor did i design it. It was designed by a guy who used to build chassis for NPTI and Neumann Haass. I know he knew what he was doing and the proof is in how the car handles....you are welcome to draw your own conclusions.....

  19. Oh yea, NO HEIM Joints! It is modular but bolts up solid with minimal movement. See the new photos posted of an installation on a 72 with camber plates! Just completed tonight!
  20. okay some clarifications for your questions: The 4 ends mount to the firewall behind the firewall are factory braces that distribute any stress to the rest of the chassis, if you remove the cowl you can clearly see the factory bracing. the swaybar mount goes THROUGH the frame rail, my car experienced frame rail cracking from too large of a sway bar, you can see the repair in one of the photos. The sway bar has been removed so the bottom plate can be seen. I have added photos that will clarify this. see the newly added photos. and forward any questions to PDK Racing or Me at rcarter@iwaynetworks.com for a faster response.. Ron
