  1. The student has become the master. LOL Good job Rick
  2. Yes, what PrOxLaMuS© said. I run MS-II, PCB3 on my 77zt (zx turbo engine) using factory dizzy. You do have to move two jumper cables on the board in order to use your Dizzy. The diagram is on the Megamanual. Installation is fairly easy. Tuning is more of a learning curve, for me at least. If you order it assembled and get the relay board its even easier.
  3. Thanks guys. The car right now is stock with MS-II. Stock injectors, stock turbo, 6psi boost

    Shift light

So how do I install a shift light with MS-II, PCB3 and relay board. 77zt with factory tach. Does it goes to one of the relay board connections. I searched some and I believe I can use one of the spare I/O lines but I still dont know how it connects and how to set it up. Thanks
  5. I posted this also on zcar but I got most of the MS info from this site, so here. 1st timer for me and the car. Terrible reaction time but still fun. I think I'm hooked. 77zt MS-II track vid
  6. So how far from the fuel pump do you place the valve? Did you use 5/16 barbed fittings on both sides of the valve to connect it to the fuel line
  7. It is an after market fuel pump. Unless I hear otherwise I'll just leave it as it is since it doesnt appear to be hurting anything. Thanks
  8. Little by little I have been chipping away at the MS-II 77zt swap and I can say that I am happy with the progres in the last few days. I leaned the VE table, replaced a faulty FPR, got new 8.0 mm plug wires and adjusted the PWM after reading Z-ya's post on PWM mesurments. I also changed the injector control setting to alternating, two squirts. This last one really hit the nail on the head and the idle settle really good. I am waiting for my new NGK plugs and will drive it again after I install them. Its boosting up to 6psi for now. Next its going to be a WB sensor & gauge. I still, however; have a very slight hicup upon acceleration that dissapears right away as RPMs go up. It happens at the very instant the throttle opens and then its gone. It doesnt do it under load, as in lets say 3rd gear at 45mph, under these conditions you punch it and it climbs slowly and steady then the turbo spools up really good and it pushes you back as you smile. Any suggestions? Thanks to all that have helped.
  9. I'm pretty sure the system remains presurized even after shutdown. Thats why you should apply voltage to the cold start valve prior to servicing the fuel system. This will release fuel into the intake and bring the pressure down so you dont get a nice fuel facial when disconnecting the lines. I believe it also ensures that the next time you crank the car it will start right away since the lines are already pressurized and the fuel is ready to "go". Or I could be wrong .......
  10. Problem fixed. Calibrated the thermistor tables as sugested by Matt and all is good now. It reads just a couple deegrees lower when compared to ambient temp but thats normal on an overnight cold engine. Guys, thanks again. Getting closer every day. If only every fix was this easy.
  11. I just checked the settings under the tool menu and yes they are off by a lot on eithr Celsius or Farenheit The sensor is grounded to the relay board. I really dont think its the bias resistor since it was purchased assembled from DIYautotune but I will check it if the settings correction doesnt fix it. Thanks PS I should have known the answer was in the MegaManual. GUILTY!!!
  12. I got the GM CLT sensor for my MS-II, its sinstalled in the thermostat housing, below the thermostat. The thing is it reads 17*F when the engine is cold and its a sunny 78* day. It will increase as the engine warms up but always has about a 60* difference. At the same time the AIT sensor reads pretty much the same as ambient temp. How do I calibrate it. I think this is whats causing the WUE to stay on all the time.
  13. When I turn the key on my 77zt MS-II, you can hear the fuel relay click and the fuel pump winds for a few seconds, pressure climbs to just shy of 40lbs, then the fuel pump cuts off and the fuel remains at around 35lbs. All good so far, right? As soon as I turn the ign swithch off the fuel pressure drops instantly to "0", nada. If I leave the ign on, the fuel pressure drops very slow and seems to stop around 30lbs. I have a factory turbo fuel pressure regulator and a 95lbs rated fuel pump. I have 0 to 60lbs fuel pressure gauge on the retun side of the fuel rail, before the FPR I have an after market fuel rail and new stock flow (not factory) injectors Fuel Damper? FPR?

    Fouled plugs

Yeah I'm seriously thinking of getting a wideband

    Fouled plugs

So how many of you have fouled the plugs after a MS install. After a few days of on & off tuning my stock 77zt, MS-II I have finally fouled the plugs. The car got progressively worst. Stumbling and coughing. So I pulled the plugs and they are BLACK as they can be. Coated with a nice coat of fine carbon deposit, all of them. I'll try to adjust my cold start enrichment and see how it goes. I also think the whole VE table is way too rich. It seems to be fouling the plugs even after warming up. Oh well more tuning.
  16. This may sound ridiculous but, does it have any gas in the tank. Hey it happens. Dont ask.
  17. I went the dizzy (from a 83zxt) route. It is so simmple, I think it was like four wires from the dizzy and thas it. With the relay board even easier. EDIS is probably better performance wise, more precise. It works well for me and the mod required only two jumpers on the back of the board. Clearly marked and explained. Good Luck
  18. Prior to buying the MS-II I had no tuning experience, NONE!!. I got all the know-how off the net, here and there. Ease of tuning is relative. I couldnt tune a carb setup for nothing. I would have to learn it like I did the MS. This whole tuning thing was like Chinese algebra to me. Once you get to know the MS and spend some time tuning it becomes a lot easier. There are a lot of guys here willing to share and help out. I say go MS and then you can race your friend. My friend is putting toghether a carbed turbo setup and he has been talking a lo of junk so we will have to settle it at the track
  19. At idle is pretty quiet, kind of a low rumble that really gets peoples attention. I have not gone WOT yet but I can tell you that my friend's zxt with factory downpipe and straight exhaust all the way back souds pretty damn good at WOT. Its hard to describe but once it opens up it screams and you can clearly hear the turbo. I heard it as he was passing me, back when my z was NA. I'll try to post more videos soon.
  20. Hey cygnusx1 thanks for posting the video. Yeah man it a great feeling. Its been a long time coming. I will post my file after the rugrats go to bed tonight. It should get you a decent starting point idle. Just remember mine is bone stock, except for MS and DP ofcourse, oh and the 240 sx tranny.
  21. Finally got my 77 280z w/83 280zxt swap,(MS-II, direct coil control using zxt dizzy) on the road I took it for a spin around the block and I am very pleased with how its coming out. man, it sounds so good. 2.5in DP and exhaust all the way back, everything else is stock. Thanks to all who have helped me along the way. most of what I know about my Z and MS-II I learned here and at zcar.com. So guys pat yourself on the back too, cause in some way, shape or form you all had something to do with my little project. I am trying to post with a link to a short exhaust video but am not shure how. I was able to post a link to the video at zcar under the same login if you want to check it out. Eventually I will post my .msq file for all to see/use
  22. Guess not. I will try again tonight, or you can look at it on zcar.com, under car talk
  23. Finally running!!!! stock 83 280zxt, 2.5in DP all the way backhttp://www.putfile.com/images/winmedia.jpg Not sure if this is how to post here. Its on Putfile under z_dust
  24. I worked on all the grounds as suggested and charged the battery overnight. I now have a signal!!! The car starts, idles rough and as soon as I feather the throtle it stumbles and dies. Before all this I had it idling good and responding to throtle really smooth up to 3K RPM. Well at least now it wants to idle.
  25. Hey twoeightythreez, I want to first thank you because one of your old posts here at hybridz helped me in getting over some MS VE table issues. Yeah the dist shaft is still one piece and turning. I'll be trying again with a fresh and fully charged batt now that the baby (1mo old) is awake . The wife doesnt like it when I wake up the boy with teh Z (2.5in DP and exhaust straight back).
