  1. The site says this kit has: 10' of 3mm 5' of 6mm 2'of 10mm Is that enough for all of our hoses? I saw the ebay one last week and was thinking about it too...but this is WAAAAY cheaper, and if it gets the job done, I'd do it. DUMB QUESTION OF THE DAY: if you replace existing vacuum hoses with ones of the same diameter, but longer/shorter lengths than original....will it impede performance? With the way the OEM engine bay looks, I could see some "hose management" giving it some improvement if I made some things longer or shorter....hence my dumb question
  2. Been searching for close to an hour here and not finding it. I'd like to clean up the bay a little and get the grime from the last 28 years off, and clean up the wires and hoses a little too. I've heard that spraying the whole bay with WD40 and leaving it over night (hood closed) does wonders. Does this work, and is it safe? Is there another recommended way of doing it? Thanks!
  3. thanks Maxxx for the tips and the pic! As mentioned in my initial post, I'm trying to find a solution that doesn't involve fabbing (shaving/fiberglas, etc) as I have no skills for that, and no specialty tools (and a measley 1 car garage right now...). Was just thinking there might be an aftermarket front the bolted right on to get the desired effect. If you got 'em, post 'em please. BTW Maxx - looks like you have a drop of about 1 inch - is that a Tokiko kit?
  4. Thanks for the response - darn - that's what I feared (that the parts wouldn't line up). I'm still hopeful someone out there may have found a way to do this without fabbing....crossing fingers!
  5. This is my third attempt to post this here....let's see what happens. I'm wondering if it's possible to bolt on the front bumper of a 280Z to the front of a 280ZX? I really like the gap and intergrated turn signals between the hood and bumper. And I really hate the look of the black and chrome bumper on mine - see the photo below (mine's in blue). Anyone done this? Is it just a straight bolt on? Any fabbing needed? Can someone share pics if they've done it? Thanks!
  6. love the airdam...is it (or a version of it) available in the US?
  7. Dash is HOT....very curious to learn how that's done....
  8. THIS is the ugly one I have now....
  9. Thanks guys - I didn't even think of that (width/girth) - I just really liked the old school look (and hate the 5MPH bumpers on my S130)....
  10. Kind of on the same topic...I saw a blue 260Z yesterday that I learned had been abandoned on the side of the road for about 9 months - window was open, and it began to pour...really sad. But...I really like the thinner style front bumper - had the small "towel rack" style chrome bar above it. Do you guys know if the 240 and 260 bumper hardware is "bolt on" for the S130s - or do they require mods? I haven't taken my bumper off - I'm just planning long term cosmetic mods here Thanks!
  11. I had my first one last night... Driving home from the airport (after parking it there all day) - everything works fine, except the turn signals don't. The hazards never have since I got it, but the turns worked fine - even that morning! 10 minutes into the drive, in rain and gloom, they started working again - I didnt' do anything different - they just decided to work again....strangeness!
  12. Great thanks so much - I've bookmarked it for the warmer months
  13. thanks gijonas - I'll google it too....but eagerly await your answer. Cheers!
  14. Hey everyone - I love this site already - lots of knowledge here and good attitudes all around I just acquired a 1980 280 ZX in good condition - it's got the usual 28 year old marks of a car its age but for the most part is in great shape. The one area I can see improving on most quickly and easily in the cosmetic department is the black that's faded on the rear slats and the hood vents. The hood vents are actually not in bad shape at all - just not "dark black" anymore. The slats in the back are borderline bare metal - see photo below. I don't have a paint shop or a huge garage so I will likely be using canister over the counter aerosol spray to touhc up these parts. What have you guys found to be the most effective (and longest lasting) black touch up method for the rear slats? Do you use a simple flat black like rust oleum for the BBQ grill, or do you use a primer, followed by several layers of black? I would imagine the "OEM" color is flat black (not gloss) for the rear slats but could be wrong. I likely won't tackle this till it gets warmer and dryer here, but wanted to reach out and see what has worked and hasn't - if you have pics of before and after, please post. Thanks guys!
  15. veyr cool! I just got a PM about my car color - some guy wanted to know the code since his wore off the engine bay....mine did too! Now I know and I'll point him toward this link. good find!
  16. I did it tonight - got it up on stands and pressure bled the clutch system. The slave was bone dry - no leaks. Master it's hard to tell since there's been fluid spilled there over the years - but it seems good right now - I'll have to check over time to see if the fluid level goes down in the master cylinder. Thanks for all your tips guys!
  17. ^^^^ lol I took apart the door panel last night and found about 3 inches or more of standing water in the bottom of the door, with tons of sediment. The 2 rubber "drains" were a joke - more like lengthy plugs. They were each about an inch long and had "vents" - I guess the water is supposed to drain out the vents - but with all that sediment built up over the years, there was no contest! I pulled them out (and will likely keep them out now, and drained, and cleaned the door out - airing it out now before I re seal with a garbage bag and put the panel back on. Note to others - if you have this happen, try first just pulling out the 2 black rubber plugs underneath the door - you may save some time.
  18. Thanks - that's what I am hearing - will check it out tonight. Cheers!
  19. Thanks - MSA seems to be the most popular air dam/body kit company in these circles. I checked out your site - amazing work!
  20. Thanks a ton guys - that's what I figured it was and will do that tonight! I grew up in Seattle - when it snowed 1 inch (every 3-4 years) people would go nuts, cancel school, drive like mad, etc..... I moved to CA to escape the rain - I have for the most part, but every once in a while it catches up with me. BTW, what air dam is that, cygnusx? I *like* it!
  21. It poured rain here in CA last week and the doors on the car seemed to fill with a couple inches of water (rest of interior is fine and dry) - it just sloshes around in here when I drive or open/close the doors. I'm planning on removing the inner panels this week and sopping it up - anyone experienced this and found a good remedy for it (besides a car cover)? Thanks!
  22. thanks guys. I am going to try the pressure bleeder this week and I'll check for leakage in those areas you've recommended. Another Q I have (totally unrelated to clutches): It poured rain here in CA last week and the doors on the car seemed to fill with a couple inches of water (rest of interior is fine and dry) - it just sloshes around in here when I drive or open/close the doors. I'm planning on removing the inner panels this week and sopping it up - anyone experienced this and found a good remedy for it (besides a car cover)? Thanks!
