  1. looks nice and clean! what did you do to the wheels exactly? Let me know how you like the bushings and how the install goes (do you need an impact gun or do regular tools work) - that's next on my to-do list for the ZX
  2. they are NOT the same. ZX stripping is hard to find...but I think there are several threads here if you search - that show alternatives - using hardware store issue stripping to do the job. Let us know what you find....I'll need to do it someday....
  3. Guninness. iPhone or Crackberry?
  4. This is the only negative feedback I've see thus far - some guy used the "launch" feature too many times and blew out his tranny (sounds like dealer error on education): http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=25361 I was driving my gtr two weeks ago and I heard a loud noise coming from the rear. I turned immediately had my gtr towed to crown nissan st. petersburg fl. They didn't touch my car only called some techs from tennessee to look at the car and record the noise, 4 days later two guys from japan to download some info from the car then left. Then I get a call from the dealer to tell me the news, and they told me that the car was driven without vdc too much and nissan will not warranty the transmission which they said was destroyed, I asked them how much to fix it they told me 20k, no freaking way I will pay 20k on top of what i just paid for the car. I called the gtr number and also talked to nissan consumer affairs got nowhere, now the car is sitting at the dealer. I know we shouldn't launch the car but why own it if you cant use this function, don't sell a car that goes 0-60 in 3.4 sec if the only way you can achieve this speed is to void the warranty , false advertising. Here is the bad news people were fearing it has happened to me and Nissan has told me there are already three people in my shoes, if you are one of these people email me, we have got to get together on this. Just think if any of you guys have taken the vdc off just a few times you have already voided your warranty, good luck what a joke nissan.
  5. I think I saw that car on EBay a few months ago - nice score! I have no idea about the value....you just got it - you now want to sell it - or just curious?
  6. Calaveras Road is a fun one too - but lots of cylclists and the occasional cow in the middle of the road (No joke!) http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=Sunol,+CA&daddr=37.504279,-121.827049+to:milpitas,+ca&hl=en&geocode=&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=12&via=1&sll=37.513811,-121.909103&sspn=0.199887,0.307617&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=12
  7. looks like an R8, 997 and GTR got together and had a kid!
  8. Thank god for your post - if you guys want to feel better about HybridZ, just hop over to www.e46fanatics.com for a dose of "mall rats" and bad grammar. That's what I have to put up with for my other car. "Breaks"...."Definately"..."ne1"...those are some of my favorites. So nice to have real English written here - I feel like I'm among real adults
  9. As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I knew my thread would be mentioned I've removed my blower and had no issues to date. BTW, in my (feeble) defense, I had referenced this as a "Coil blower" because I somehow thought there was a connection to this and the BMW coil/plug system (modern BMWs have the coil and spark plugs/plug wires into one unified unit per cylinder I believe. Either way...lesson learned - glad you guys got some yucks out of it
  10. that's an intereseting approach with the jack - I think I'll try that next time. The diff plug has some yellow hardened liquid around it, like it was locktite treated last time it was put in, I think.
  11. I'm trying to drain/refill my transmission and differential with new gear oil. I'm trying to get the FILL plugs out (getting the drain plug out only to not be able ot get the fill plug out is not something i want to deal with ). Now I've tried this twice, 2 weeks apart, giving myself time to get my patience back. I've tried "liquid wrench", waiting...then hitting the plug to get it loose....nothing is working. Is there any recommended alternate means to do this ? I'm going nuts.... Thanks in advance!
  12. interesting! I had no idea. I just pulled out the records from the original owner (including the sticker from the sale), and cannot find it as an option.
  13. are you trying to mount the spoiler, the louvres, or both? In have the stock slats/louvres and there are factory holes drilled (4) at the base of the window - there are 4 hand-tight screws that mount the slat assembly at the bottom; the top is secured with a set of hinges. but if yours is aftermarket, it may be a totallly different application. Pics would help us help you more
  14. thanks guys - this is fantastic feedback - very much appreciated!
  15. I believe the mechanical (belt-driven by the motor) fan is what I have. Previous owner was original owner and kept everything stock to myn knowledge. I've seen the "electric fan" mentioned several times here as an aftermarket upgrade...what are the benefits/drawbacks of converting to electric?
  16. Thanks guys. Are noisy injectors BAD or just...noisy? the ticking sounds like it's paced normally with the RPMs - does not get worse really... Can they be remedied with anything like an additive or is that all bunk? I'll look more into the 2800 RPM rattle source - thanks for the tips!
  17. Hi guys - pushing the n00b envelope even further with these 2 questions. I've done a valve adjustment twice now on my 1980 NA 280ZX - runs great...but I've noticed some noises that I can't figure out with the engine. Noise #1: Exactly at 3800 RPM - either revving up or revving down - I hear this rattling noise coming from the engine. It sounds like a heat shield is loose and rattling but i've checked many times and all those are mounted tight in the engine bay - can't find anything loose in the bay at all. Doesn't affect performance at all - it's just a metallic rattling sound that happens every time I cross 3800 RPM. Noise #2: At idle and with throttle, there is a "ticking" coming from the engine. At first I thought it was the valve lash since I had adjusted the valves (twice) recently. However, when I listen close and put my hand to the valve cover and other components, I notice that the valve cover DOES NOT seem to be the source - it instead seems to eminate from the injectors/fuel rail (circled in image below - not my car - just an image I found online to indicate the metal tubing I'm talking about): Should I be worried about these noises? What are the sources of these 2 noises? It's driving me nuts not knowing... Thanks in advance
  18. This is the setup I'm dealing with (not my car in this image): So...Sounds like I can do the filter thing as long as I block off the hose where it goes into the intake manifold (the lower right part of the green doodle I made)?
  19. Amen to that! I learned the hard way what a TPS was (and how water could foul it up) Just be sure to cover up the connections. I ended up using heat shrink tubing on my connectors and injectors right after this because they were all cracking from age.
  20. I'll take that one - skyline! celtics or lakers?
  21. That's right: I am asking about putting a filter/vent on the valve cover (to let it breathe) and capping off the manifold where it WOULD have connected via the vacuum hose (which would be removed with the filter install).
  22. Elvis FTW! Pen or pencil on crosswords?
  23. if you guys haven't already seen this site, it's pretty fun: http://www.jimmy540i.com/bmwnightmare.htm
