  1. Yeha you are lucky, years ago and guy here in MD had a peice of tranny guts come through the floorpan and into his leg, mainly that big ass artery in his thigh. the track staff thought the car just broke and pulled off the track so he didn't oil down the track. Buy the time the tow truck got to the car and they realized he was hurt he had died.
  2. When your Solonoids open you get a substaintal pressure drop in the fuel system. Don't "Replace" your pump, snag another D21 pump a run dual in tank pumps. you will Double you fuel systems flow capacity. Your stock fuel systems should be maxed out @ 15psi no juice, and when you add that pressure drop to the system your injectors arent pumping out thier rated CC's per min and your nozzle insn't dumping enough fuel for your shot.
  3. 100% if I didn't alredy have a DE-TT and a pair of T-25's in the garage I would slap a new turbo on the running VG30E that already in my future DE-TT truck I'm just being superfical because I want to say "3.0L DOHC Twin Turbo" to peopple in parking lots
  4. Stock block to stock block the DE-TT can safely handle more power. But all the guts interchange. you can run a DE-TT rotating asy on a SOHC VG30E and all the aftermarket parts interchange. A well Built VG30DE VS. a well built VG30E would both be close in the HP & TQ department, The DE would make more power but you would have less money in the E My heart is with the DE-TT I just love the way they sound, and the way thay pull up into the high RPMS
  5. VG30's and VG33 use the same cam profile in cars & trucks. turbo, Supercharged and N/A all use the same cams. the only advantage to the VG33 is you can bore it out to 3.4L (89mm) and the OE crank gear on the VG33 alows you to run a 100K mile timing belt. swaping a VG33 into a early Z would be exatly like swaping in a VG30 in every pissible way. The trucks with VG30's all made more HP and TQ over there Z31 brothers through inovative intake manifold reaserch & development. Thats why so many Z31 owers swap to 93-97 Pickup/ Pathfinder intake manifolds.
  6. X2 the Z31 and Z32 use diffrent Auto tranys dont they? I know the ECU's are TOTALY Although there is only 1 wire from the Z32 VG30DE-TT ECU that runs to the A/T module. It is Pin# 22 on the Z32 ECU and it goes to pin# 23 on the AT module. I wonder if you can throw a toggle switch on to pin#23 on the A/T module to manualy shif onto 1st gear??? I don't know what kind of signal the Module wants to see.
  7. P.S. Turbo D21's KICK ASS!!!!!!!!! And your only in DE??? we have got to tear up the streets sometime man, HAVE TO!!!!
  8. Are you 4 banging now or VG30 powered? I used my OEM VG30 ECU with a Greddy emanage on my SOHC truck.
  9. The NA motors are fine boosted by the way. TT's are 9.3:1 and NA's are 10:1 you woun't be able to push the stock N/A pistons much past 400WHP after that you need either OE TT pistons or foraged aftermarket pistons. Stock TT blockar are good to aroud 550WHP I have a NA long block out of an Infinity J30 and Z32 Turbos, Manifolds, ECU and harness. and any VG30 tranny will bolt up. It can be done afforabily if you shop around. Mostly you will only find clips from japan. the JDM cars have smaller turbos and more agressive cams.
  10. and then you have to drive the cam gears. which the SOHC crank won't acept the DOHC crank gear so you would need a DOHC crank. and oil pump since the front seals are diffrent. so no it's not really going to work out.
  11. go here http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi ALL VG30DE ecu pinout are the same. The speed sensor is pin 54 and is color coded Y/G #22 goes to the A/T controll module ( I dont know what it does, if you are running a manual trans terminat it, if you are running an Auto tranny it goes to pin# 23 on the A/T tranny module) #44 In the Netual switch OR clutch safty switch (Ground to start) the color code is Y/L #54 is Throttle valve switch related probably LG/R in color here are the major Nissan wire color codes through 1998 ALso on in the online manual there are MUCH MUCH more in depth diagrams on pages 102-180 in the "Engine Fuel and Emissions systems" section and pages 173-177 give you a specifc pin location for all the the engines sensors. If you are wiring up a VG30DE thoes are the 78 most important pages you will EVER read. make sure your printer has ink and print all the diagrams out and use them as your shop manual. thats what I have done. and here is the link to the downloadable version of the manual in .PDF form I keep it on my laptop so I have it when I'm at the shop. http://www.simsters.com/z32/servicemanual.htm
  12. For a sand rail I would go with a KA24DE out of a 93-98240sx 98-03 Frontier or a 96-02 Altima. They are 155HP stock take alot of abuse and are in every junk yard in the US I really like the VG30 though and the KA win never make the power & TQ that the VG will. and On the other had the SR20 is light. I a sand rail you won't need alot of crazy power to be quick. that's why I'd go KA with a smalinh turbo
  13. If I create a true dual intake, with a MAF only on one side, so the MAF only ever sees 1/2 of the air that goes into the egine. and I run Twinturbo 370cc injectors on a 100% stock N/A ECU will the truck run? I would be cuting the MAF signal in 1/2 and slightly more than Doubling the size of the injectors.
  14. OK work with me here. please. I have tried to explain what I am doing and have been unsucsesfull. There are some VERY smart car builders here and I hope they can shed some light on my idea. I have a VG30DE-TT engine here going into my Pickup truck. I have a N/A ECU, TT injectors and stock turbos. #1) The Z32 in stock form routes both turbo inlets up to a comon MAF and air filter box. #2) The N/A Z32 300ZX uses 160cc injectors. The TwinTurbo Z32 300ZX uses 370cc injectors One day I will run a full standalone EMS like AEM or Haltech. BUT for now for this summer I think I can pull this of; If I create a true dual intake, with a MAF only on one side, so the MAF only ever sees 1/2 of the air that goes into the egine. and I run Twinturbo 370cc injectors on a 100% stock N/A ECU. I know this is curde, but my dialy driver just took a $1,500 dump on me and I want to drive this thing. I would dyno W/ A/F to verify I was OK I really think it will work. My ONLY fear is that the MAF table in the N/A ECU would not go low enough to compute the ultral low volume of air it was reading.
  15. Well the head mets the block right behind there as well as the front cover. It almost has to be you front cover there is a nasty little "T" junction there where the head, block & front cover all come together.
  16. The VG30DE-TT is VERY complex and VERY pricy$$$ I am a BIG FAN of the SOHC VG30E with custom manifolds and a par of T25's you can go 400WHP on ANY VG30 on a budget. and plenty of junkyard parts are available. If you use a Maxima VG30 you can use a maxima 5-speed and keep everything Mid engine RWD Also the Nissan Bluebird was FWD with the SR20 as well as the Sentra SE-R / Infinity G20 Oh and the VG30DE-TT will bolt right up to that FWD Maxima tranny if you use a 88 Z31 clutch and a 90-96 Z32 TT flywheel
  17. Probably the only reaso you can't find peopple who have done this swap is becaues other than possible weight reduction, there is no good reason to remove a VG30DE and replace it with a VQ. you MUSt have gotten a GREAT deal on that engine & tranny. although I have no help for you, I am wondering what made you go with the VQ?
  18. well, all the Z31 trannys have the same size & spline input shaft, so your 240mm disk would fit there, and as long as your Flywheel & pressure plate clamp the disc and there is no interferance, with the disc hub. everything should fit and work. but I have no idea on holding power most all of the 90-96 Z32 TT 250 MM clutches use a SUPPER strong pressure plate to get the higher holding power because the TT Z32 uses a power boosted clutch master cylinder. I don't know why 240mm Z31 cluthes are rated higher than the 250mm units, but it's probably in the pressure plate also.
  19. What year is you Z31? I asume since you are looking for a 250mm clutch you have a 87-88. don't ask me why but evry one rates thier 90-96 300ZX Twin Turbo clutcher higher than the 87-88 clutches. 90-96 TT's use a 250mm clutch that will bolt to your flywheel and the trannys are the same.
  20. I did the mini filters once, if you run alot of boost OR have alot of blow by they will get oily and collect ALOT of dust. I ended up geting a catch can. and just plug the manifold.
  21. If you run a straight edge across the top of both gears you should have 1mm of "sag" -OR- about a half-inch deflection with 20 lbs. of force straight down in the center of the cam gears.
  22. Um.... S13's weight 2700 lpbs Z32 weigh ma good bit more. 250WHP and 260 WTQ is about what a stock VG30DE-TT throws down with a K&N filter in the stock air box. I can understand the extra room you'll get and if the SR20 Bolts up toy your FS5R30A trans I would just bolt the motor to the trans and supportthe motor with a T-bar ans start making motor mounts.
  23. anyone know where I can get my hands on a ECU wiring harness pin out for a 90-95 TT 300ZX manual? the local dealer dosen't even have one? WTF?
  24. 300ZXclub.com his car is on the header and they are going to sell that poster to the public, they are looking for a printer now.
