  1. Sorry to get back on topic for a second but would there be anything wrong with just welding the pin so that it doesn't wear in the housing
  2. thanks guys i'll weld it up. Go pick up another carrier ....LOL i'm in Eastern Canada. Finding a Z for parts up here is like you americians saying think i'll go to florida and get a used space shuttle, there might be a few around but NASA isn't selling.
  3. this rear end has made maybe 50 passes at the track so am i correct in assumming that this wear started at pass 1 and wear continued to expand the pin slot from that pass on. Is there something that can be done to prevent it from happening again (other than slowing down of course). John how much welding should i do with it just a tack or go completely around both ends of the pin. Do you have your beast welded?
  4. Busted a U joint at the track last weekend replaced it at the track made another pass and then heard a new clunking sound take a look at the center pin in the differental. Is this common. I normally run high 1.5 60fts with an ET of 11.3. I think the 3.90 gears are ok is it a big job to swap them into another center section.

  6. Never mind the motor what are you running for a rear end setup i run run dual stage 150/210 NOS with 235/50 15 ET streets and it spins the tires at the track. buy lots of u joints you're going to need them

Bracket raced on Saturday and won the event with my most consistent times ever 11.1x and 1.5x 60 foots all day long BUT the kicker was my HEI distributor was falling apart the mounts for the weights had broken off so i figure i might start the upgrade to MSD Anybody have any experience running a MSD Pro Billet Distributor the clearances must be better than a HEI for sure. Can I run it with a holley strip annihilator ignition and laser shot coil which i currently use
  9. First time on the quarter with that much HP going against the PROs at JNJ better start practicing i predict JNJ by at least 2 seconds.
  10. here's what i used to go from a 2.2 60ft to 1.5 (with NO motor changes) 1. Sticky tires (235/60 Mickey T. ET street radials) 2. changed from 3.55 to 3.90 gears 3. limit front end rise (chained front end so that there's only 3 inches of upward movement bolted chain to hole for sway bar end link and to cross member.) 4. Used rubber spring booster/savers in the back to make sure the suspension can't go past the point side axles are parallel with the pavement. 5. Remove front and rear sway bars ALL of these modifications make for bad highway driving so be carefull 400+HP is a big help also Good Luck Curtis
  11. guess i should have mentioned i smacked a 150 shot of NOS as soon as i rolled out. Run was made through the mufflers with a set of 235/60 Mickey Thompson ET street Radials
  12. Just wanted to thank both John and Jerry for the suspension setup advice they gave me over the winter IT WORKED i ran a personal best of 10.479@128.46 with a 1.553 60ft The car hooked really well and lifts the front tires nicely of the line more to come before the season is over
  13. JohnJerry why are you guys running a rear sway bar on a drag car. Is it helping you hook up or something ????
  14. HALF CORRECT The 8 hole weld wheel fits both the 4 lug mustang and the Z they just use different holes on the same wheel.

  16. i must be missing something here ....why would you need a 327 block when its the exact same bore as a 350 block?
  17. sort of on the same topic what would be a good stiffer rear spring replacement. I ran a bunch of low 1.6xs last weekend and i'd like to turn some of that wasted energy into forward movement
  18. will halfshafts from a 81 280ZX (manual non turbo ) fit a 75 280Z i only have 1 day before the car goes to the crusher to get them out! thanks
  19. if i was to make another set i'd buy a couple more 1 3/4 J bends and curve the 7 and 8 pipes forward to add length to make all primary lenghts more equal. For reference i'm running a 350 Transmission.
