Hey mike do you want to do the wiring on a LS2 Engine going in a 72 Cheyenne truck???
Sure.
I will be in Mexico later this year. I will have to see all of your projects.

How did you fix the tach?

Would it need a 50A SPDT or 50A DPDT Relay? I'll order it from Waytek Wire. JTR hasn't responded to ONE of the five emails that I have sent in the last month or so, so I'll spend elsewhere.
The PCM is what switches it, right?
**Actually, I think that my question is answered in Cozy Z Cole's sticky on post #37 I'm going to continue to re-read all of the posts. It's just that many here use a manual switch, and I want it all automated so I don't have to worry about accidentally leving it 'on' or 'off'.
You will have a low and hi fan wire in your engine harness. They should be labled for you. They will supply a ground to switch the relay. You will need to have the ecu flashed to a lower turn on temp for the fans. You could just use one relay and hook it up to the high speed on the fan. This will keep everything semple in your engine bay.
Put your motor in, I want to hear it run.

I was at the JY again today snatching up as many Volvo Two Speed Fan Relays as I could get my hands on, and I was also rummaging for lots of Bosch Relays.
I came upon a Saab that had a fan relay with a "timer" [so it was written on the relay]. I was trying to pry it out of the terminal and it broke. It got me to thinking about how [especially smaller import] cars have the fans running AFTER the ignition is turned of and you walk away from the car to continue to cool it down.
Do the wiring schematics that have been posted [as stickies & others] take into consideration this type of scenario? I have printed out pretty much all of the relevant plans that should apply to an LS1 here; but, am not clear if they will run as long as it takes to get the coolant temp down regardless of if the ignition is on or not? This is likely a really ignorant question; but, seeing that "Timer Relay" made me feel as though I needed clarification.
Will the LS1 PCM tell the fans to stay on based upon temps even if I do not have the car running [or ON]? Or, is it simply a matter of wiring constant "Hot" feeding the Volvo fan switches?
Stan I had some problems with the Volvo relay sticking. They are not rated for the Taurus fan. You might want to run a 50amp relay, that is what I use now. Call JTR they have the 50 amp relays in stock.

Congrats, Looks like fun.

I used a c6 oil pan on my RX7. The pan needs some work to fit. It might fit the z-car better.
-
I think I have the old camber plates for your car. I will take a look next week.
Mike

If you are road racing the ls2 pan will be better. for street driving the ls1 pan will work just fine.

I think that the c6 oil pan might fit. It is a better pan than the ls1 pan for oil control. It also offers more ground clearance. I know that the front of the pan is 1/2" deeper than the ls1 pan, so make sure that it fits.

Yup, I got the whole deal. PM your address to me and it's yours.
Thanks for the p/s set up.

Looks good Cyrus, I need to get a ride someday.
What brakes are you using?

i should be in the 10s soon as soon as i get my car running and tuned. im sure with 150 shot i should be in the 10s with some m/t slicks or some drag radials. but, probably going to stick to high mid/high 11s w/out nitrous. never ran nitrous in my life, but a hella lot of boost on old projects! ill see what the lt1 does all motor first! sac raceway is known for offering good timeslips! .6 to .8 faster difference then fomoso raceway in bakersfield.
I have run the same time at Famoso and Sac. It would be very hard for a track to be .6-.8 sec off. I could see .1 to .2 from track to track at the most.
Good times Joey, You have been working on it for a long time.

Mike-
good ideas. How did you re clock the alternator without screwing up the rear mount location?
Mike
I did not use the rear mount.
-
The 1st test drive is always fun. You might want to reclock alternator to make more room for the power output wire. Try and pull your vss signal from the sensor and not the ecm output.

Hi, im so very interested in what im here, i would like to know if you did the swap including everything yourself, and whats your rear end, is it stock? What about the drive shaft, is it custom make with heavy duty u-joints, ect? and how in the f*** did you manage to get dry sump in there and hooked up, is wet sump possible? Are you able to fit aftermarket headers in there, (lets say lgmotorsports.com's longtubeheaders.) Do you have a tremec or ssr t56 tranny in there and if so any problems hooking up to the ls7? what about shifter location? did you encounter any problems of any sort along the way of the build, how was the wiring issues, did you use grannysspeedshop.com? any fabrication, welding, or cutting envolved? what about engine mounts, tranny mounts? what did you use for a selection of gears or gearing ratios? you must have crossmembers? could i have a detailed list of everything that was involved and the price please,
Thanks man, thanks alot, i apprciate it alot, thank you so very very much. as this could mean a dream come true for me., you could email me to.
That is alot of questions. Start by looking at Torquecentral.com
Also my car is in Nov&Dec issue of sports compact car magazine. They give a build sheet on the car.

I have a set of ls1 headers for z-cars for sale. I paid $850 for them 3 years ago. JTR had my set made into production headers so everyone can buy them for less. I just had my headers Ceramic Coated again so they look brand new.
JTR sales them for $475 new
$325 shipped

are there any brands of long tube headers that will fit on a 240 with the jtr conversion? I searched on the forum but I couldnt find anything.
I have a set of S&S headers that I had to bend the collector 1/2" for better clearance. I was using them with JTR mounts. I will let them go for cheap if you need them.

Looks good.

Sound great Sergio, I still want to see your car vs ls1z car at the track. But you need to shift faster........... Ls1z just ran a 11.1. I have driven both cars and it should be very close.
M1noel---------This video should motivate you. You will love the ls2.

ls1 MSD wires are the best to use. You are able to bend them out of the way of the headers.
