Hey guyz. What pourpose does the fuel damper serve, and can I do away with it even as a daily driver?

I have a ?. If I were to install a simple boost controller and set it @ 10lbs., would I need to do anything else? Just want to grow into slowly. I guess what Im asking is can I do this and nothing else right now? Or is there a series of things I need to do also, like FPR or Injectors. Can the factory stuff hang w/ the extra poundage? By the way the fact. turbo is fresh and I put new gaskets and seals,(conversion set) in the engine. Thanks for any info or educated input.

I recently had my turbo charger rebuilt and I added a manual boost controller, set @ 10lbs. Do I need to do anything w/ the relief valve on the intake manifold,(factory)? I am looking for a simple way without spending a lot of money, at least right now. I dont want to damage anything of course, but still reliable.

I was told that the auto ecu in a five speed have a few differnt parameters. For instance at a stop light the rpm's stay up, at a idle, a little more than the manual because the auto ecu is designed to always have some kind of load on it while it is in drive. I think that may be the most noticable though. I did this w/ one of my zxt's, also seemed to run a little rich too.

Yea Iv'e had my fair share of "New parts", my luck has always been- if there is a bad one on the shelf, no matter what it is or where its from, if I were to bet on getting "it" I'd be rich! But then again, the way my luck truely is, if I were to bet on "it" I wouldn't get a bad one ever again. So figure that one out. Thanks for the input and the confrimation. J.

Thanks, yea it is wierd. I didn't know about beeing too tight- thanks. And I read on here in some of the other forums about the connection issues at the ECU. I had this issue first on my 355k zxt at about 350k. And the second zxt I bought last Oct., that had been sitting in storage at a shop. They had worked on the car for the customer for other maitinence, Hadn't been started since '96, just needed fuel pump. But anyhow there was a resistor on the connector as well where you mentioned. Engine shut off while driving

This happened to me and the screw came out of the rotor button (bug) creating fire no fire. But this is on a zxt distributor. -
Both of my 280zxt's are having an issue not responding correctly when getting on the throttle, poping, backfiring thru the afm and really bogging down. After systematicaly removing all of the connections in the engine bay one at a time, finally when i pulled the connection on what I believe is the head temp sensor the idle came up to a grand and no more poping or backfiring, with much more instant responce at the throttle. This was all done at temp in the driveway. Here's the thing, I went to auto store- baught new sensor and still same issue. this sensor I speak of is at the back of the p90 between the last two spark plugs and right above the block serial #'s. Does anyone know about this? And maybe the new sensor is bad out of the box (autoz**e). I think it runs richer without being connected. Any input would be great. Thanks.

This happened to me in my zxt. Pulled off the diff cover and the large pin that holds the gears together moved out of place ( outward ), pushed back and welded into place (flush with of the gears). And I never had any more issues after that. The guy who welded this for me said this was just a easy fix, but suggested that I get ifixed as soon as possible. I drove it about two or three years after and it still held up.

I talked to a known local mechanic about the fuel stations around here going to 10% ethonal in all grades of fuel, concerned about the stock valve seats and he said that isn't as much a concern as the o2 sensors would be getting a mixed message reading. He also mentioned that the cat may be of more concern, because the ethonal will raise the octain. He also mentioned that this will cause a loss in milage as he has already in his late model ford pick-up and his motorcycle. I am scrathing my head here because in the past Iv'e always run the highest octain in my turbo to maximize my milage, and usually works out that way. So why would the ethonal decrease milage if it raises the octain value? I haven't had my z on the road to test this out yet with the ethonal issue, was wondering if anyone else has any input about this?

Thanks, I went to Thompson Turbo in Okc. and got new caps and o-rings. I do have the proper injectors accordingly. This web sit iz awsome help!

I was just wondering how important the pintle caps were and what pourose they served? It's just that the caps came off and stayed in the intake when I removed them with the rail. I didn't know if I could run them without the caps or not. Thanks for the info!

What is the for shure way to tell which injector I have? Because Ive had the black tops in an auto and replaced with what I was told needed to be green tops for turbo, but now Ive aquired a 82 1/2 turbo manual- which the last ZX was converted from auto to manual, has red tops (almost brownish). So after I get some educated answers on this part I was curiuos if anyone knew what would happen if the plasic caps on the bottom of the injectors were removed and the correct o-rings inserted.? Does this, the cap regulate fuel or spray pattern? Could I create a vaccume leak? Well thanks for any info. J.

Have you checked with Shawnee Imorts? Boyd over there use to have a mess of those z's. Last time I was there, ayear or so ago he came a cross and had a right hand drive 280zx but it is a 2+2. Is the 2+2 considered a Fairlady? I was told that the Fairlady"s were only right hand drive, can anybody varify?

Does anyone now where I can get the aftermarket stuff for 280zx (body parts), from Japan- like front air dams or carbon fiber pieces? Maybe like the hood vents for '83 turbo or door handle peices, door panels, dash trim, maybe even a cowl hood? Also, there is a set of ground effects from back in the 80's that was available in the J.C. Whittney when I was a kid that just looked great on the ZX coupe that left the fact. bumpers alone-and just defined the body so nicely. A member on this site has the set that I loose sleep over, and was wondering if anyone knew of another set anywhere for sale or to lend to get molds of? Check out 280zedex (a member here), and you will see his black ZX and you will see the set I speak of. Please help.

Back in the 80's there were a set of ground effex for this Z(1979-1983), the one place I remember seeing them were in JC Whitney catalog. I've called them obout reserching the archives, but nothing. Erebuni had the molds until 1998, but no help there either. This is the only set I want for my Z! I know there other sets at reasonable prices that look good(Motorsport Auto), but I want the original look which accentuated the body much more in my opinion- I only need the side skirts and rear quarters or rear spats for the 1983 Datsun 280ZX coupe. Does any one out there know what I am speaking of ? To get what I am talking about, from yahoo page just type in datsun 280ZX under the "images" tab, not the "web" tab, you will see an image of a red 280zx w/ hood scoop- click on that image then scroll down then you will see the black zx I am speaking of, as a matter of fact there are about three of the same pic of this car in that same area. If anyone even knows how to reach this person or know more info as to where I can get what I am looking for I would be eternally greatful, I have been seaching for years now- please help!!
