  1. The Z driver in this video is pretty entrenched in brand / import loyalty. Granted, there's some trash talking, but he's not giving any valid reasons for why he thought he'd win, just a lot of 'Ford hunk of metal' 'it's a Ford, I have Japanese technology' BS.

Why do people still think this way?

Well if they actually do use people from forums its more than likely that they are like the hotheads come here and get banned within a few days.

  2. Your reply is indicative that you are new to these cars and motors? That is not the knock sensor that is part of the alternator harness and that is also a factory block ground at that point as well. These cars do not have a knock sensor, they only have a Cylinder Head Temp sensor back towards the 5th cylinder. Also when you apply Cooper Spray gasket you apply it to the head gasket while it is hanging and you spray it liberally, let it dry for a moment until it becomes tacky and then install it. The picture clearly shows weeping on the block.

No I just thought that's generally where people put aftermarket knock sensors on turbo L series (thinking of Big Phills car)

And how do you know this guy didn't spray down the block surface with the copper spray-a-gasket? Because why would the headgasket be weeping where there is almost zero compression? (around the timing chain housing)

  3.

Also looks like there might have had a head gasket leak at sometime after it was built:

Sure it's not just black paint? look at the nice clan knock sensor (I guess idk my NA doesn't have one there) near the bottom, and the gold is just copper spray-a-gasket.

    Nice car though.

  4. Let me clarify my first post. There is only one sender for your gauge. The "other single wire-sender to temp gage" in your post [yellow wire] has two different part numbers depending on if you have a digital or analog instrument cluster. If you get the wrong replacement sending unit it will throw off the display on your gauge by about half. Thats a mistake I made recently I was trying to help you avoid.

But I have two Single wire sensors on my thermostat housing, one has a yellow wire like you stated and one has a disconnect.

Is the Single wire sensor with he disconnect the sensor for the water temp. gauge in the cluster?

  5. I have used a crank balancer from an 83zx on my daily driven 79zx and have had no problems with it, its been about a year now!! Also, the washer used is different along with the timing indicator the bolts to the block. Might want to see if the indicator from the 79 can be used on you car. I had swap the indicator on my 79zx to accommodate the crank balancer from the 83zx to fit.

Oh I was wondering if the TDC mark was a little different, Ill have to drop by and pick up the timing indicator some time.

thank you all very much. :D

  6. those are balance drillings. when they balance the unit that is how they make it right. Opposite of wheel weights on a tire balance. Probably any pulley you look at will be different. As to difference between years I'd go with the if they look the same and fit go with it. Check the notch for TDC. But hey a pulley is a pulley.

Thank you sir, this is great news. :D

  7. Ok, I cracked my crankshaft pulley trying to get it off and I went to the junkyard and got one off of a 79 zx.

When I got it home I realized the 79 has 13 counter balance holes, the 81 has 6. And they are at different locations on the pulley.

Is this going to shake my crankshaft to death or will it work?

Well I just looked at MSA's website and apparently the 79 has a different part number then the 80-81... hmmm

  8. i think this is her...hahaha...it was a pic they took and it was uploaded to my account..

That must be the easiest search I have ever done "4G63 swap" that's it.

But the way I would go about this is look for 2G 4G63 swapped starions and see what transmission, intake/exhaust, and mounts they are using and transfer what you can over to an S30. There is a thread on here that went HIGHLY into detail on this subject but I really don't feel like looking for it because the search button works the same for me as it does for you.
