  1. Congrats on getting the RB running. Please let us know how you like the AEM once its fully mapped. Thanks
  2. Two words - Stomper trucks. My folks dropped a box of old stuff at my house not that long ago and I ran across some of these great little battery powered 4x4s I had as a kid. Unfortunately the contacts are corroded or I would be out with my kids in the back yard right now
  3. I think the wheel ran around $250 when I bought it 12-18 months ago. Definitely an improvement over stock. http://www.sportscar-parts.com/mmwheel1.htm
  4. Just uploaded a quick look at the new steering wheel Next is a full set of gauges http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13853&size=big&cat=500
  5. Stealth, I've done a similar tach conversion but used a R32 tach inside the S30 housing. While I put the the pod together my mechanic wired it up. From what I remember we used the ground and power wires from the 240z harness and ran a wire to the tach pin out on the ecu. Make sure you verify with your own wiring diagrams however. As you say the R32 uses a cable speedo and like you I am running a rb25 tranny so I have don't my speed currently (though I can guess from gear and rpms). I'm running all of the other stock gauges for the moment but am considering replacing everything with Defi. Matt
  6. Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully it was insured or UPS makes it right given the cost of these ecus. I have considered using this EMS for my RB26 but have shied away from it given the difficulties the guys on gtr.co.uk seem to have had. Please let us know how tuning on this unit goes for you once you get it back.
  7. nevermind - carfiche.com is back in business
  8. Does anyone have expereicne removing these. Barring that does anyone have a factory fiche or manual that shows/describes how the spider gear is removed from the axle? I can't find a circlip like on R230 or S13 axles. It appears to have three sections on the outer edge of the axle end that are flattened somewhat (maybe this is how the gear is held on the end of the axle). Maybe it needs to be pressed off at a machine shop but I'm concerned that in doing so the splines or spider gears will be damaged. The purpose for pulling these off is to create a custom CV axle using 280zxt and S13 ends. Thanks for any help you can provide. Matt
  9. FYI Got the Nissan part #s for these axles... left (39601-24p10) right (39600-24p10) I had these part numbers and a VIN from a 88 SS (off z31.com database) cross referenced by the guys at Autopartsgiant.com. They claim that the A1 Cardone rebuilt #60-6100 is correct. It may or may not be, however I have one of these axles at home and it will not fit a Nissan S15 HLSD(which is 31mm/30 spline). Essentially the question of whether these axles (88 SS) can be used in this swap is open.
  10. Well the supposed 88 SE cv axle finally arrived - unfortunately it is a standard 300zxt axle 29 spline and smaller diameter than the S15 input shafts. So back to the parts store it goes. It was a rebuilt unit from A1Cardone part number 60-6100. The store had indicated that what they ordered was specifically for the 1988 SE model with VLSD but clearly it wasn't. The solution it seems to me at this stage is to buy a set of S13 cv's and a set of 300zx cv's and then use the larger 6 bolt ends from the S13 axles paired with the 4 bolt 300zx ends (on the 300zx axle) using the MM cv adapters. Unfortunately it won't be the most cost effective solution. If anyone has a pair of the 88 se axles please measure the diameter (s/b ~31mm) with 30 spline count. Thanks Matt
  11. Joe I ordered these from my local auto parts store. Unfortunately they called back to tell me only the driver side is available and that I would have to go to Nissan for the passenger side. Nevertheless, I have gone ahead with the driver side to determine if 30 spline 31mm diameter is indeed what these SS axles are. Should this be correct then I guess I will have to hunt the junkyards for a good condition passenger side axle. Matt
  12. To confirm if the SS axles work once and for all, I've just ordered a set (1988 300zx SS w/ VLSD). Should arrive in a week or so. I will post if these match up with the S15 HLSD center (with pictures) I have and am planning to put into my longnose r200 3.9 Matt
  13. I am definitely interested in further info regarding correct CV shafts to mate to the the S15 HLSD output shafts. I just bought one of these diffs off Ebay with the 30 spline outputs shafts included. I am going to try to use this in the long nose r200. I was guessing it would require a custom CV shaft but would like to see what could be done with the 280zxt or 300zx cv shafts. Thanks Matt
  14. Bringing up an old thread here....but has anyone used a mechanical speedo pickup from a R32 GTR trans in the R33 rb25 trans? This thread has focused on the electronic version so far and I am curious if the stock mechanical R32 GTR speedometer has been used yet in any of the Hybridz swaps. There was a thread back in 2005 that touched on this issue but I didnt see a resolution to the question. It unlikely that there will be sufficient clearance in the trans tunnel to accomodate the stock speedo cable anyway.... My idea is to purchase a stock r32 gauge cluster and fit the tach and speedo into the 240z gauge pods. I am just hoping to keep the interior a bit more stock like on my 240z but will go to the Autometers if there is no other choice. If anyone has done this please let me know. Matt
  15. I'm interested in the size of these gauges as well - hopefully someone has some dimensions. However in the current EBAY auctions you can see the back of the gauge clusters which are solid pieces and may be difficult to take apart to fit the old z gauge pods. http://cgi.ebay.com/MINES-SKYLINE-RB26-R32-320kmh-Gauge-Cluster-GTR-BNR32_W0QQitemZ230001499744QQihZ013QQcategoryZ72205QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/NISMO-SKYLINE-R32-320kmh-Gauge-Cluster-GTR-BNR32_W0QQitemZ330001114586QQihZ014QQcategoryZ72205QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330000312102&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BID_Stores_IT
  16. EZ-E It looks like the IC I got from Bell Intercoolers that I used in my rb26 swap. Core size was 24x6x3 and rated to flow 770 CFM (which I understand should support around 500 horsepower). Seems the core you are looking at will work fine (I presume you are doing an RB swap, if not, as Mr Soileau suggests you will need to have the end cap switched to minimize IC piping on a L28) I have a few pictures in my Hybridz gallery but they don't show tons of detail. I tried to link to the album using the URL but my computer skills failed me. Matt
  17. Saw this at the Nissan display last weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Nice to see an OEM swapping engines too. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3095&cat=500&page=1 http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3096&cat=500&page=1 Oh, and saw a nice 260 race car http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3097&cat=500&page=1
