  1. Hey norm I was wondering why you didn't replace it in the first place I'm going to see if I can use an RB20DET dampener. Then I wont be breaking cranks. tbs
  2. ok Can I get another pic of the head gasket on the head but the gasket fliped over this time like it should be? Also I can tell oil from water but not oil drain from oil pressure. I'm in need to know which holes feed the head with oil. tbs
  3. wait Never mind I get it now I was wrong the negative means your above the block sorry my bad. tbs
  4. I assume that you did this with the calculator and if you notice the deck cc's your -12.5 so your still in the block not above it, if I'm reading this right. Please let me know. Also with a N42 head the compression would be 7.74:1 for a turbo not bad but a N/A thats week. tbs
  5. hey DJ33 I noticed something really obvious that I should have seen before but can you post a pic of the gasket on the head with the read oil sealent toward the head like it when it's bolted down. I can't believed that I missed it. tbs
  6. Hey Mack that sounds intersting but I do belive that it will work check my other post under L6 performance I friend posted me a pic of an RB20 head with the gasket on it and it really matches up I don't personly see why it would cost that much maybe there tring to use belt and not chain I'm going with a chain because I can set it up eaiser I'm going to try it out anyways but thanks for the warning I will keep it in mind and thanks to everyone raising all these questions for me it's helping gather information and add to my nowledge of this. I've said this once before and I'll say it again I'm not going to let anyone piss on my Barbecue. But As I said thanks for the warning. tbs
  7. No I haven't considered that but I'm betting that the cost of it will be close to what an engineer designing the part and making the first run prototype and that was about 15000-20000 for the first and 600+ for everyone after that and to try and justify that cost would me very costly. So I'm going with the RB20 head because the cost can easily be justified because it's mainly machineing, and you can then on your own buy any skyline L6 manifolds for it. Thus cool import parts that are newly desined for the skylines and a higher rev but your going to need a new crank dampener I'm going to see about getting a BR20 one because it looks just like ours and will handle the rpm range. tbs
  8. yah I would like to see the front of the cams with out the gears on them. and the front of the head with out that little black plate on it. ALso can you mark on a picture what ones are oil gallies, pessure and drain for the head. Thanks tbs
  9. ok I read about half of it and started to fall asleep I did get the idea of Jeffps crank dampener but if what you say is true about the skyline crank dampener, then if you've seen the ones on the RB20 they match ours so no problems which ever cost less The RB20 or the one that jeff had that company design. I know I can get the head idea work work but to get the whole set up to work will take some time. tbs
  10. Can you be a little more in depth about the crank difference of a 10 and a full I would like to learn about them to get a better understanding of it. Can you enlighten me out yo2001? tbs
  11. I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear in my last post. I ment that in a stock head with a cam and springs you can make power to past 7k and people rev there motors to this high rpm range, heck the motor was built for topend not lowend you can tell that by the stock dyno tests. And I know people that rev them that high the only thing that I should be worried about is the crank pully seporating and breaking the crank but If I get to worried to always be reving it that high I'll have it rebalanced and thanks to Jeffp I can just buy a solid one piece crank pully plus the bottom end on these cars are almost bullet proff, the can take a lot of beating look at Norm he beats the heck out of his, seriously he does and a lot harder then the anyother z driver I know, and it held untill the crank pully spilt and broke his stroker crank. tbs
  12. What you making fun of me? Na just kidding but was do you mean by ray of sunshine in your life, are you that intersteaded in the head project too? tbs
  13. yo2001 I'm not concered about the bottom end because with springs and cam you can rev past 7000rpm. Well I need to get some money around so I can fund this project. Like always donations are always welcome. tbs
  14. The only thing I can tell you is that the bore centers are perfect with the L6. I don't know what the differece in the BR20 BR25 BR26. tbs
  15. Hey daneL24 I agree with you but with out spending mega bucks in head porting by rebleo racing your head will run out of flow and on a turbo car that will come back and bite you. I believe that if you combine a DOHC head with a 3.0 stroker bottom end you'll have a beast strait from the depths of hell. If you look into it the best motors that are produced are a stroker with DOHC motor. EX: 4G63(Eclipse and lancers), 2JZ(Supra), RB26DETT(Skyline). Note we don't have that and you always have to compromisse something when you deal with a single cam duration and advace and retard must be set at a happy medium to get a good set up and in a DOHC its independent you have more control over that and the abillity to produce more power that to me is better off. tbs
  16. Sleeper I think that he is thinking of the SR20DET that came in the silva's in Japan. Thats a four cylinder and we have them in the states non tubo it's called a 240sx. Untill a few days ago I didn't know any of the motor numbers at all but I know a lot of them and some how I memorized them, and I usually don't ever memorize anything maybe it's because I have such a passion for zcars and performance. Well I'm sold on the RB20 head unless I can find a RB26 head for the same price but it will all work the same. tbs
  17. yah guys I found a head for the BR26DETT and was shocked when the price was converted to USD about $2400 shipped (3900AUD) for just the head. I decieded against that head and am on the search for a RB20DET head since the whole motor cost about $1000 USD I figure that just the head won't be to expensive plus it would be able to work on any zcar because of the spacing and the fact that it was a 2.0 liter., if I'm right I did see some pics of a stock gasket on a RB20 head and it's almost perfect I just need to know which holes were ment for oil so I can relocate them I really want this to work for us. Also if anyone can post me some pics of the timming belt tensioners I might go that route But I need to see some first. The problem at had is the oil pump and distributor if I go that route but I would really like to use the belt. tbs

  19. Hey DJ33 is that really a RB20 head? Also would you consider selling it? Or do you know where I can get one for a desent price?? Please let me know soon I would like to have that hed for the idea also to make it work then I will have to change the timming chain cover so I can block off the belt and then allwo oil to make it to the Oil pump or I can use a different oil pump or just go with chains but I do like belts over chains if I can get a way with it. tbs
  20. Ok I'm going to get my plan of action set strait with you guys. I was told for a fact that the Skyline RB26DETT head will bolt right up to the block and the cambers are dead on from matting with the cylinder bores. but I'll have to have the water ports changed and the oil gallies modified as well. Also as far as it makes since to me I'm going to use 2 stock cam sprokets with skyline everything else. I'll be using a chain instead of belt and it apears that I'll have to make a new front cover for the head as well as a new chain tensioner. The great news is that we can then start to use some new Japan performance parts on our z's and custom fabrication will be cut down on my end and hopefully save everyone money. As of now I'm trying to find a RB26DETT head and excaime the water and oil passages it should be no big deal to have a machine shop heat the head to about 400+ degrees and weld them all shut and then take it to be milled flat and have the new intrance holes machined to match our blocks. And yes by having the head heated and then welded will ward off cracks that must idiots machine shops will over look when welding a head up. Then we can use a stock head gasket as well in this applacation. Everyones head will have to be done individualy if we go this route and if you want go a head and buy a head like this if it works and I'll finish up the work for you and so you can save a lot of money. I did think about casting the head and then machineeing it out but after I would have fabercated it all the price would be really high as I assume OS Gikens if they bring back the head. and the bad part about there head is that you need thier manifolds to use it, to me thats a lot more work then it's worth so I'm sold on the Skyline head with all of there interals and that head will let us rev higher too. tbs
  21. I know that this should go under for sale but, I figured that I would get a faster response on this board. tbs
  22. the show is open to the public and it for companys to come and show off there new products. If you can be sucsessful at the show with OS Giken's president then me producing a DOHC cylinder head is no longer nessary and we will need a price to see on how many are intersted in buying it. I except it to be costly because tooling for a head runs about 15000-20000. and then about 1000 for each after that for a complete bolt on head. I would like to build a head and sell it for less than that to the z community. I ask that you try to pursade him to reproducing his cylinder head and if not ask for the blue prints if we can get anything from him I would love to have those design plans. from that it would speed up this process. If all goes not as planed then I ask of your help in setting up the valve train and timing it in the the gears. Thats what is going to take the longest for me to do I'm working on desings for the water jackets, cambers, and ports it all looks good so far. Also the convention is held in the LA convesion center south hall and in the top message of mine is the booth number. tbs
  23. Hey BayAreaZT since your a mechanical engineer if this deal with OS Giken can't be reached to make another run of the TC24 would you be willing to help me make one I don't know anything yet on the valve geometry and need some help. I would like to use 300zxtt valve, springs, and hydraulic lifters for this project. After I get one made by hand I can mold it and have it cast for 600 bucks. So I'm trying to get all the help I can with this. Will you help me in my quest?
  24. this month April. I know it's the same weekend as the West Coast Nationals but it would be benifichial to all z enthuiest. tbs
