  1. sorry about my last post the quote and message is back wards. sorry about that. tbs
  2. Has anyone ever contacted Gikkin to see if they would be willing to part with their drawings? I mean, if you are going to start this thing from the dround up, then whay not see if you can get their engineering drawings for the head. As I understand it, they have no intensions of ever building the head again
  3. Well as for the RB head tomorrow is the big day I'm going to the junk yard to see if the VG30 oil pump can be made to work on our L6 blocks if so then I'll be fabercating a new front engine cover as well as a timing cover. This will allow me to convert to belt, and then if it all works like I hope I'll be in the market for a RB20 or a RB25. Which ever one I can find. Wish me luck. tbs
  4. who made them for you and how big was the price tag. I like them and would like to make a 3.0 some day, but I want my to have twin cams on it. tbs
  5. I personally like this idea of converting to a RB20DET ECU because I'm still pondering on setting up a RB20 head on the L28 block all that I need to check on is a oil pump and if it looks good I'll be looking for a head to import and mess with. I should know by this weekend if the oil pump works out. I would like to keep from using a dry sump for this applcation to make this idea more theaseable for other L6 driven z cars. Sorry to steal you post just need to get this out. tbs
  6. so your car builds RPMS for about 2 seconds after a shit? It sounds like your throttle linkage is in need of a cleaning, adjustment and lubercation. or heck convert it like me to cable linkage. tbs
  7. for those breathers can't you just remove the PVC and add another breather on at the block? I've seen pics of it like that and plus it would be seprate from the motor and not leaking in air. But one thing buggs me about this idea and that is how will the crank vent I know it uses the vacum from the motor so will it naturally vent or will a vacum pump be required? Also a little off topic I going to get me a 300zx oil up and work on the set up for my motor and if it works then I'll be in the market for an RB20 cylinder head. Also I got my car back paint matilic blue and silver I'll post pics as soon and I can. tbs
  8. For you that don't know back in the late 70's OS Giken made a DOHC 24 Valve head for the L6 motor which is rare to find. So guys you might be in luck I've taken another look at the RB set ups and from what I see and this is a maybe, If I can get a oil pump off a 300zx to slide on our cranks then I can make a custom plate to block off the oil. Then useing RB timing belt parts convert the L6 to belt and bolt on a RB head such as the RB20 or RB25. Then modifying the timing cover to bolt to the block over all of this. Now to me the only thing stoping this from working would be the distributor, since they don't use them it's going to be a mestery to set up one or just set up a solid state ignition on the car if possible for a desent price. So I ask if anyone can help with finding me a oil pump that I can mess around with and see how it will work on the car. Also I'm looking for information on Solid state ignition as well as any one who has an RB20 or RB25 head that they are willing to part with. If this doesn't work out then I'm back to square one building a chain driven DOHC from scratch but I would perfer this route to cut down cost. Finally to take full advantage of the cams alone we will need the Crank damperes that Jeffp is getting produced for us. Becuase its not 8K but 7K when the cranks get weak and when our dampeners spilt. tbs
  9. yes 600 bucks to cast a head with my molds. thats from bermag that will be doing the casting. Then there is the cost of machining, valve seats, cams,ect.... but I would like to make it use some of our parts to keep cost down. tbs
  10. why not cable linkage for our cars? I know scottieGNZ did it on his when it was a L28ET. He told me what I needed and i just have to go and get the cable out of the junk yard and I'm all set I re did the mounts, peddle, and body hole. I can't wait no more slow crappy hard linkage. And yes I did fully clean and lubercate my hard linkage as well. tbs
  11. HS30-H I didn't get a fax at the end of the year it was a few weeks ago, it said in it that at the end of this year there company will reconsider production of the head. If you want a scan of it I'll do that no problem. I don't know why your getting all upset with me, were all here to help and thats what I'm doing. tbs
  12. Header Wraps SUX I will never use one they hold in the heat and mostire this will crack your mainfolds and espeically your turbine housing if your using a turbo charger. Hearder Wraps are evil and need to be taken off the market. tbs
  13. Somebody needs to slap the V8 out of you, you need to check out the 2JZ's, 4G63's, SR20's and so on. maybe you'll change you tune and say get the whole Supra effect. Thats what I'm after a god motor and effect. tbs
  14. HS30-H I do belive that only the 260z's got the LY heads so it leads me to belive that its an 432 if it was a fairlady. Also OS Giken now makes clutch and drive tain parts not just Skyline parts Datsun Dude. As for the TC24-B1 it was produced and from a recent fax that I received from OS Giken at the end of this year they will be reconsidering this part for reproduction, lucky for us that thier president at the moment is the one who designed the TC24-B1. So we might once again have a chance for this part I know I'll be saving my pennies for one and if I get one I don't know if I would want to use it or display it, it's so gorgous. Also I've heard the 18% increase in power but you must remeber that they used different hardware alround like New pistons which would have an effect on power. As for a cross flow head what cars in the 80's came with an L6 crossflow head I'm sure it could be grafted on to our blocks no big deal just as long as we can set up our distributors. Thats the reason I've turned away from an RB head but I would like to know if any RB heads were chain driven if so then I could possibly set something up with proboly a 300zx distributor. and the 280zxt CAS disk if your not already using 84 and up ECCS like me. tbs
  15. thank you for all this information I might be able to get this to work with the oil in our head and I have a friend that I'm helping out with trying to put an little nissan DOHC head on his mitsubishi four cylinder. tbs
  16. Can you point me in a direction to learn more about this dry deck set up. tbs
  17. hmm... that sounds interesting but my only concern would be thermal expansion and would would I use for lines, I amagine I would use flare fitting like whats used on the brake lines but would it really hold up to that much heat?? tbs
  18. I need to know when reinstalling my windsheild in my 81 280zx can I resuse my black weather stripping that is glued to the body that holds on the upper and lower stainless trim pieces? I would like to avoid spending about 70 bucks for new ones or does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? tbs
  19. If you must know. as for the RB head I've almost put that idea to rest unless I can find an oil pump that will bolt up to our bolcks but then in that event what about our distributor? how would I make it work. The reason is that the head over hangs to far because it uses the belt and not the chain. So for a head like that it would require a custom oil pump and a new way to hook up the distributor. And the skylines us a solid state ignition system so they can get away with just a CAS on one of there cams. If you look into it it gets more and more expensive and in the end a BR swap would be simpler and less costly. Now on the other hand I found a company that will cast me a head for 600 if I make the prototype and then mold it for them. Now for 600 bucks to me thats worth it plus I got the hook up at a machine shop that has a CNC Lathye and bridge port mill. tbs
  20. Ok I check it out and he makes nice heads but the price was enough to make me look to different aprocase to this head. Also right now i'm looking to find some pices of a 89 240sx head for a buddies 87 conquest it looks like it might work. Lucky B@st@rd. tbs
  21. Scottie you want to do my intake? No just kidding but those look nice, what was your steps that you did to polish it that good? tbs
  22. well I ported my runners to match the head which also matches the gasket. Also I started to remove all that crap on the intake, give me your email and I'll send it to you. tbs
  23. Ok Dan I don't think I was clear about my supra story A done up supra would eat his car up. Also this head isn't my #1 proirty right now getting my car painted and adding little things to it is. So its a side project that I'll do in my free time for fun. tbs
  24. Hey Chris Glad you like it. Also I got your package I checked it out and the clutch was turbo but the flywheel is non turbo. Do you have a turbo one?? tbs
  25. cost doesn't bother me, an exsample of this would be jeffp for what he has into that car and motor he could have had a supra or something that is faster then his car, is not about cost it's a love for the zcar. Plus I would like to be able to market them to everyone. tbs
